Direct determination of the spin structure of NdIrO by means of neutron diffraction
We report on the spin structure of the pyrochlore iridate NdIrO
that could be directly determined by means of powder neutron diffraction. Our
magnetic structure refinement unravels a so-called all-in/all-out magnetic
structure that appears in both, the Nd and the Ir sublattice. The ordered
magnetic moments at 1.8 K amount to 0.34(1) /Ir and
1.27(1) /Nd. The Nd moment size at 1.8 K is
smaller than that expected for the Nd ground state doublet. On the other
hand, the size of the ordered moments of the Ir ions at 1.8 K agrees
very well with the value expected for a = 1/2 state based on
the presence of strong spin-orbit coupling in this system. Finally, our
measurements reveal a parallel alignment of the Nd moments with the net
moment of its six nearest neighboring Ir ions.Comment: http://journals.aps.org/prb/pdf/10.1103/PhysRevB.94.16110
Vector constants of motion for time-dependent Kepler and isotropic harmonic oscillator potentials
A method of obtaining vector constants of motion for time-independent as well
as time-dependent central fields is discussed. Some well-established results
are rederived in this alternative way and new ones obtained.Comment: 18 pages, no figures, regular Latex article forma
Graduation Rates in Arkansas: An Updated Analysis
High school graduation rate has become an increasingly important measure of school performance over the past fifteen years. Graduation is an important event, as studies have shown that failing to graduate from high school is associated with several negative consequences including lower lifetime wages, poorer health, and an increased likelihood of incarceration. This paper examines several district- and school-level variables that may impact the high school graduation rate in a given school, district or region
Outstanding Educational Performance Awards: Highlighting High-Growth Arkansas Schools, 2017
This section highlights [middle] schools across the state whose students demonstrated high growth on the Arkansas ACT Aspire exams. The ACT Aspire was administered to students in grades [5] through [8] in April 2017 in Math and ELA courses which include English, Writing, and Reading. Each table in this section presents the Top 20 schools for the noted subject area and school level. In addition, these tables include the region in which the schools are located, the grades served at the school, the weighted achievement score, and the content growth score in that particular subject. The level of the schools, namely Elementary, Middle, and High, have been based on the school allocation given through the My School Info portal of the Arkansas Department of Education website
Deformations of symplectic cohomology and exact Lagrangians in ALE spaces
We prove that the only exact Lagrangian submanifolds in an ALE space are
spheres. ALE spaces are the simply connected hyperkahler manifolds which at
infinity look like C^2/G for any finite subgroup G of SL(2,C). They can be
realized as the plumbing of copies of the cotangent bundle of a 2-sphere
according to ADE Dynkin diagrams. The proof relies on symplectic cohomology.Comment: 35 pages, 3 figures, minor changes and corrected typo

On equivariant characteristic ideals of real classes
Let be an odd prime, an abelian totally real number field,
its cyclotomic -extension,
We give an explicit description of the equivariant characteristic ideal of
over for all odd by applying M. Witte's formulation of an equivariant main conjecture (or
"limit theorem") due to Burns and Greither. This could shed some light on
Greenberg's conjecture on the vanishing of the -invariant of
$F_\infty/F.
Observation of long range magnetic ordering in pyrohafnate Nd2Hf2O7: A neutron diffraction study
We have investigated the physical properties of a pyrochlore hafnate Nd2Hf2O7
using ac magnetic susceptibility \chi_ac(T), dc magnetic susceptibility
\chi(T), isothermal magnetization M(H) and heat capacity C_p(T) measurements,
and determined the magnetic ground state by neutron powder diffraction study.
An upturn is observed below 6 K in C_p(T)/T, however both C_p(T) and \chi(T) do
not show any clear anomaly down to 2 K. The \chi_ac(T) shows a well pronounced
anomaly indicating an antiferromagnetic transition at T_N = 0.55 K. The long
range antiferromagnetic ordering is confirmed by neutron diffraction. The
refinement of neutron diffraction pattern reveals an all-in/all-out
antiferromagnetic structure, where for successive tetrahedra, the four Nd3+
magnetic moments point alternatively all-into or all-out-of the tetrahedron,
with an ordering wavevector k = (0, 0, 0) and an ordered state magnetic moment
of m = 0.62(1) \mu_B/Nd at 0.1 K. The ordered moment is strongly reduced
reflecting strong quantum fluctuations in ordered state.Comment: 10 pages, 9 figures and 2 tables; to appear in Phys. Rev.
