    Israel\u27s Ethnic Cleansing of Palestinians

    Get PDF
The carving of Palestine to create a ‘Jewish State’, Israel, has imposed upon the Israeli and Palestinian people the necessity of separation on highly unequal terms and qualities of human existence. Since Israel’s creation, millions of Palestinians have been forcibly removed from their homes, displaced, rendered refugees, and continue to exist under severe Israeli military occupation. According to Israeli immigration laws, displaced Palestinians are prohibited from returning to their homes, joining their families in Israel or the occupied territories, and even from entering the ever-expanding borders of Israel. This has occurred alongside a high immigration rate through Israel’s Law of Return, or Aliyah, which invites Jews around the world to settle in Israel and receive full Israeli citizenship, denying this process to non-Jews. While both Palestinians and Israeli’s experience the terrible violence of the Israel-Palestine conflict, one can escape the circumstance by access to a comfortable lifestyle in Israel; for Palestinians, displaced and deprived of food, water, and shelter security, while being denied the freedom of movement, there is no escape from the escalating humanitarian crisis. For my project, I examine how Israel’s national ideology of Zionism has fueled the phenomena of creating a ‘Jewish State’ through ethnic cleansing of Palestinians at the expense of coexistence, focusing specifically on Israel’s Law of Return’s, or the phenomena of Aliyah’s, role in creating a homogeneous ethno-religious ‘Jewish State’ in what was once Palestine through population removal, replacement, discriminatory state infrastructure, and territorial expansion

Walleye Markets in the North Central Region: Results of a 1996/97 Survey

    Get PDF
Walleye is a popular sport and eating fish in the North Central Region (NCR). Virtually all U. S. walleye fisheries are off-limits to commercial fishermen in favor of sport fishermen. The commercial demand for walleye is supplied primarily by the Canadian market which has experienced some declines in its walleye fisheries. Because of walleye’s popularity, high market value, and supply limitations, interest in the commercial culture of walleye has intensified in recent years. Considerable funds have been invested in developing commercial culture practices. This study examines marketing challenges and opportunities for commercial walleye aquaculture

Industrial GaInP/GaAs Power HBT MMIC Process

    Get PDF
UMS has developed an industrial power HBT process especially dedicated to power MMICs in the 10GHz frequency range. The process has been qualified and meets the very demanding specifications required for X-Band high power amplifiers. Aside from the obvious RF performances, this includes the demonstration of the necessary stability and reproducibility of the process, associated with state-of-art reliability. It is important to note that the later has been achieved without affecting the high frequency capability of the devices, and demonstrated directly on high power transistors. Thanks to its intrinsic qualities this process can naturally also be used for other applications, like low phase noise voltage controlled oscillators, and power amplifiers at lower frequencies (for mobile phones for instance)

Costs for Pond Production of Yellow Perch in the North Central Region, 1994–95

    Get PDF
The development of culture methods for yellow perch has sparked interest throughout the North Central Region (NCR). Many researchers and industry entrepreneurs believe that this species holds tremendous potential for aquaculture in the region, from both production and marketing perspectives. As a result, a substantial amount of research on yellow perch culture methods has been undertaken in the region in recent years. Economic research on yellow perch, however, has been more limited. The budget work reported in this publication is the result of an effort by Purdue University and the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center (NCRAC) to provide economic information on yellow perch production in ponds. A fuller presentation and explanation of these pond budgets can be found in NCRAC Technical Bulletin #111

Marketing Seafood to Restaurants in the North Central Region

A marketing plan is an essential part of a business plan. This is especially true for products that must be niche marketed. Niche marketing involves time and effort to develop and service markets. A host of factors must be considered including choosing a product line, targeting a market segment, identifying individual prospective buyers, pricing products, estimating storage requirements, evaluating alternative production methods and schedules, examining processing capabilities, and planning promotional strategies. Market information of various types is needed. Consumer trends at all levels need to be examined. Market expectations and trends within the targeted market segment need to be explored. Competing products need to be understood. Accurate, reliable market information is essential to devising a useful marketing plan

Enterprise Budgets for Yellow Perch Production in Cages and Ponds in the North Central Region, 1994-95

    Get PDF
This study reports the results of an investigation into the costs of culturing yellow perch for the food fish market in the North Central Region (NCR). Enterprise budgets were developed for both cage and pond production systems at two size levels, 5,000 and 50,000 pounds of production. Because only a handful of established yellow perch aquaculture operations currently exist in the NCR, hypothetical production systems were modeled. Production values used in the budgets (e.g., feed conversion ratio, death loss, stocking rate) were based on the expert opinion of research and extension personnel at various universities in the NCR who are familiar with yellow perch. The production costs developed in this study suggest that larger systems, which can capture economies of size in investment and input costs, are likely to be economically feasible. The breakeven prices (cost per pound) for the larger cage and pond operations were similar and averaged about $2.00 per pound. This price is near the bottom of the range of monthly average wholesale market prices for yellow perch in the round reported by Lake Erie processors
