Note on Tests of the Factorization Hypothesis and the Determination of Meson Decay Constants
We discuss various tests of the factorization hypothesis making use of the
close relationship between semi-leptonic and factorized nonleptonic decay
amplitudes. It is pointed out that factorization leads to truely
model-independent predictions for the ratio of nonleptonic to semi-leptonic
decay rates, if in the nonleptonic decay a spin one meson of arbitrary mass or
a pion take the place of the lepton pair. Where the decay constants of those
mesons are known, these predictions represent ideal tests of the factorization
hypothesis. In other cases they may be used to extract the decay constants.
Currently available data on the decays are shown to be in excellent agreement with
the factorization results. A weighted average of the four independent values
for the QCD coefficient extracted from the data gives
suggesting that it may be equal to the Wilson coefficient evaluated

Two body non-leptonic decays in quark model with factorization ansatz
The two body non-leptonic decays are analyzed in factorization
approximation, using quark model, as a free parameter. It is
shown that the experimental branching ratio for restricts and this ratio can be understood for a value
of which lies in the range suggested by two body
B meson decays. The branching ratios for are predicted to be larger than the previous estimates. Finally it
is pointed that CKM-Wolfenstein parameter , where is CP
phase, can be determined from the ratio of widths of and or that of
and

Two body non-leptonic decays in the large limit
The two body non-leptonic decays are analyzed in the HQET with
factorization approximation and large limit. In this limit,
and baryons can be treated as the bound states of chiral soliton
and heavy meson, and consequently the Isgur-Wise function comes out in a
straight forward manner. The results obtained remain well below their
previously predicted upper limit
