    ANALYTICAL SOLUTION OF A 2D TRANSIENT HEAT CONDUCTION PROBLEM USING GREEN´S FUNCTIONS

    Through the present work the authors determined the analytical solution of a transient two-dimensional heat conduction problem using Green’s Functions (GF). This method is very useful for solving cases where heat conduction is transient and whose boundary conditions vary with time. Boundary conditions of the problem in question, with rectangular geometry, are of the prescribed temperature type - prescribed flow in the direction x and prescribed flow - prescribed flow in the direction y, implying in the corresponding GF given by GX21Y22. The initial temperature of the space domain is assumed to be different from the prescribed temperature occurring at one of the boundaries along x. The temperature field solution of the two-dimensional problem was determined. The intrinsic verification of this solution was made by comparing the solution of a 1D problem. This was to consider the incident heat fluxes at y = 0 and y = 2b tending to zero, thus making the problem one-dimensional, with corresponding GF given by GX21. When comparing the results obtained in both cases, for a time of t = 1 s, it was seen that the temperature field of both was very similar, which validates the solution obtained for the 2D problem

    Optical studies of the correlation between interface disorder and the photoluminescence line shape in GaAs/InGaP quantum wells

    Photoluminescence (PL) and excitation PL measurements have been performed at different temperatures in a number of lattice-matched GaAs/In0.49Ga0.51P quantum wells, where the uctuations of the potential energy are comparable with the thermal energy of the photocreated carriers. Two samples with different well widths allow to observe a series of anomalous e ects in their optical response. The observed effects are related to the disorder in the interface, characterizing uctuations in the confinement potential energy.     Automatic diagnosis of the 12-lead ECG using a deep neural network

    The role of automatic electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis in clinical practice is limited by the accuracy of existing models. Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) are models composed of stacked transformations that learn tasks by examples. This technology has recently achieved striking success in a variety of task and there are great expectations on how it might improve clinical practice. Here we present a DNN model trained in a dataset with more than 2 million labeled exams analyzed by the Telehealth Network of Minas Gerais and collected under the scope of the CODE (Clinical Outcomes in Digital Electrocardiology) study. The DNN outperform cardiology resident medical doctors in recognizing 6 types of abnormalities in 12-lead ECG recordings, with F1 scores above 80% and specificity over 99%. These results indicate ECG analysis based on DNNs, previously studied in a single-lead setup, generalizes well to 12-lead exams, taking the technology closer to the standard clinical practice

    J-PLUS: A wide-field multi-band study of the M15 globular cluster. Evidence of multiple stellar populations in the RGB

    The Javalambre Photometric Local Universe Survey (J-PLUS) provides wide field-of-view images in 12 narrow, intermediate and broad-band filters optimized for stellar photometry. Here we have applied J-PLUS data for the first time for the study of Galactic GCs using science verification data obtained for the very metal-poor GC M\,15. Our J-PLUS data provide low-resolution spectral energy distributions covering the near-UV to the near-IR, allowing us to search for MPs based on pseudo-spectral fitting diagnostics. J-PLUS CMDs are found to be particularly useful to search for splits in the sequences formed by the upper red giant branch (RGB) and asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars. We interpret these split sequences as evidence for the presence of MPs. This demonstrates that the J-PLUS survey will have sufficient spatial coverage and spectral resolution to perform a large statistical study of GCs through multi-band photometry in the coming years.Comment: 11 pages, 11 figures.
