H&TRC authors gratefully acknowledge the FCT/MCTES national support through the UIDB/05608/2020 and UIDP/05608/2020.Sawmill workers have an increased risk of adverse respiratory health effects due to wood dust, microorganisms, and metabolite exposure. Knowledge about exposure-response relationships is scarce, with information lacking regarding this transformation sector in Portugal. Among microbial components, fungi and fungal spores and fragments stand as allergens and irritants, due to their high prevalence, under the right circumstances, on wood products (planks, chips) that have been preserved. Aspergillus species can infect the lungs, causing pneumonia-like symptoms that can progress into more severe sickness and are reported as the most common found in sawmills. Moreover, Aspergillus section Fumigati has recently entered the WHO ranking list of most critical fungal pathogens, based on the impact of the fungal disease on public health. While antifungal resistance has been reported in sawmills, there is no data, to date, on occupational exposure to azole-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus (ARAF) in Portuguese sawmills. This study aims to determine the prevalence of azole-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus, followed by the characterization of the distribution of azole-resistance mutations in Aspergillus fumigatus from Portuguese sawmills. The correlation of the exposures with work tasks handled wood products, and seasonal variation will also be made to suggest the most suitable procedures to ensure sawmill workers’ safety.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    A formação do pedagogo: uma análise do currículo do Curso de Pedagogia da UFPB para atuação em espaços não escolares

    O presente estudo tem como interesse, investigar se o curso de Pedagogia da Universidade Federal da Paraíba prepara o pedagogo para a atuação em espaços não escolares, espaços esses, que necessitam de intervenções pedagógicas. Para tal, fez-se imprescindível analisarmos os currículos do Curso de Pedagogia da instituição, a fim de identificar se os mesmos vêm acompanhando o alargamento das possíveis áreas de atuação do pedagogo, além da sala de aula. Este estudo conta ainda com uma pesquisa através de entrevistas semiestruturadas aplicadas com graduandos do Curso de Pedagogia e com pedagogos que já atuam em espaços não escolares. Para uma possível relação entre a formação e a atuação do pedagogo. Nos apoiamos nos estudiosos e pesquisadores como ARAGÃO (2005), LIBÂNEO (2004), PIMENTA (1997), SAVIANI (2008), entre outros. Os resultados revelaram que somente a formação inicial que o curso oferece, apesar de essencial, é considerada insuficiente, faz-se necessário investir na formação continuada, a fim de que se possa acompanhar as transformações na área educacional.This study is interest, investigates whether the Faculty of Education of the Federal University of Paraíba prepares the teacher for not acting in school spaces, spaces those who need educational interventions. To this end, it became vital to analyze the curriculum of the institution Education Course in order to identify whether they have been following the enlargement of the possible areas of teacher's performance, in addition to the classroom. This study also has a search through semi-structured interviews with graduates of applied Education Course and teachers already working in non-school spaces. For a possible relationship between training and the performance of the teacher. We support the scholars and researchers as Aragão (2005), Libâneo (2004), Pepper (1997), Saviani (2008), among others.     Alternative Treatment for Leishmaniasis

    Leishmaniasis remains as one of the most important neglected diseases in the world and, after all these years, its treatment is still a problem, mainly because of the side effects caused by the first- and second-line drugs and the indiscriminate treatment, which leads to increasing cases of parasite resistance. The search for alternative therapies for the treatment of leishmaniasis is extremely important. In this context, the use of natural products arises as a promising alternative, combining the empirical knowledge disseminated in the population with researches that aim to scientifically prove the therapeutic effects of plants. Based on this, the use of medicinal plants is considered a desirable and accessible tool in the treatment of these diseases and considered by pharmacognosy as a valuable source for the development of new drugs and as adjuvant for conventional therapies
