GENDER EMPOWERMENT IN AFRICA: AN ANALYSIS OF WOMEN PARTICIPATION IN ERITREAN ECONOMY

The role of women in African economies is more emphasised in recent years by ensuring gender equality and women empowerment. But the fact remains as women have less access to resources, education and health facilities in most of the developing countries. Greater participation of women in economic activities is the major concern of most of the countries in Africa. The picture is same in Eritrea, which became independence recently, with low levels of women education and their participation in the economy. An attempt is made in this paper to analyse women participation in economic activities in Africa in general and Eritrea in particular. The potentials and challenges of big data in public health

The potential to use big data sources for public health increases with the broadening availability of data and improved methods of analysis. Whilst there are some well-known examples of the opportunistic use of big data, such as GoogleFlu, public health has not yet realised the full potential of such data sources. A literature review was undertaken to identify the potential of such data collections to impact public health, and to identify what challenges are currently limiting this potential. The potential include improved real-time analysis, research and development and genome studies. However, challenges listed are poor universal standardisation and classification, privacy and security, as well as current inadequate platforms and tools for analysis. Without such reviews, limited understanding will hinder the rate of advance in utilising such data to improve the health status of population in public health

A Descriptive Analysis of a College Day Care Center

This paper is a descriptive analysis of a college day care center, situated on the campus of one of the community colleges of the City University of New York, which services the pre-school children of full-time matriculated day students. The Center is administered by the student-parents, under the supervision and guidance of the faculty Coordinator, who is a professor in the Department of Student Services. The teaching staff consists of a New York State certified Teacher-Director and Group Teacher, and an Assistant Teacher, all full-time, and numerous part-time work­study student aides. Chapter I contains a review of the literature on college day care. Chapter II describes the efforts of the original founding student-parents to establish a day care center, the problems they encountered, and the steps they took to resolve them. Chapter III deals with the structure and organization of the Center, and the evolution of the role of each of its three components: the college administration, the teaching staff, and the student-parents. Chapter IV describes the educational philosophy and program of the Center, and Chapter V a discussion of future goals and directions for the Center

Penerapan Lesson Study untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Dasar Mengajar Mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi Universitas Pasir Pengaraian

. To improving the teaching ability of preservice teachers must understand eight basic skills of teaching. Lesson study is a model used for teaching guidance for students, because in the model developed collaborative work, collegial and mutual benefit in learning (mutual learning). The purpose of this research is to improve the teaching ability of biology education students of Pasir Pengaraian University by using lesson study model. This research is a classroom action research (PTK). The data source of this research is the sixth semester of Biology education program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Pasir Pengaraian University. Data collected by observation sheet of basic teaching skill assessment. The result of the research shows the improvement of students\u27 teaching ability on the second cycle (from the first cycle 51,78 to 73,86 in the second cycle). Thus it can be concluded that there is improvement of teaching ability of Biology University of Pasir Pengaraian by applying lesson study model

Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Two Stay Two Stray Terhadap Hasil Belajar Biologi Siswa Kelas XI Mia SMA Negeri 1 Bangun Purba Tahun Pembelajaran 2014/2015

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cooperative learning model two stay two stray against student learning results biology class XI MIA SMA 1 Bangun Purba learning year 2014/2015. This type of research is a quasi-experiment. This study was conducted in November and December 2014. Data were analyzed using normality test, homogeneity and hypothesis testing. Experimental class averages 78.64 higher than the control class is 72.8. The results of this study can be concluded that by using the cooperative model of type two stay two stray can affect cognitive learning results of students in class XI MIA SMA Negeri 1 Bangun Purba 2014/2015 school year

Pengaruh Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Student Team Achievement Division (Stad) Berbantuan Media Gambar Terhadap Keterampilan Proses Sains Dan Hasil Belajar Siswa Kelas XI Mia SMA N 1 Bangun Purba Tahun Pembelajaran 2014/2015

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of cooperative learning model of type Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) assisted the picture media towards process science skills and learning results of students at class XI MIA SMA N 1 Bangun Purba in Academic Year 2014/2015. This study used quasi-experimental. Based on the results obtained in the experimental class average value of process science skills of observation is 79,60 with a high criteria. The results of hypothesis testing obtained ttest>ttable (2.859>2.064) can be conclude that cooperative learning model of type STAD assisted the picture media effect the process science skills and learning results of students at class XI MIA SMA N 1 Bangun Purba in Academic Year 2014/2015

ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN KONEKSI MATEMATIS SISWA DALAM MENYELESAIKAN SOAL CERITA

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of students' mathematical connection in solving story problems. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The study was conducted in junior high school Christian Soe 1with the source of the data was a student of class VII B as many people as 27 people. Data collection techniques using observation, mathematics connection ability test and interviews. The research instrument was observation sheets, mathematical connection ability questions and interviews. The research instruments were observation sheets, mathematical connection ability questions, and interview guidelines.  Data analysis techniques include Miles and Huberman models with data validity testing using the technique triangulation model. The results of the analysis show that students' high mathematical connection ability of students in solving story problems is high for indicators looking for the relationships of various representations of concepts and procedures, understanding relationships between mathematical topics, understanding the equivalent percentage of a concept and looking for relationships of one procedure with other procedures in equivalent representation while low for indicators of applying mathematics in other fields of study or in everyday life as well as in applying relationships between mathematical topics with topics outside mathematics

Persepsi Dan Partisipasi Masyarakat Terhadap Sumber Daya Hutan (Studi Kasus Tahura Bukit Barisan, Kawasan Hutan Sibayak II, Kabupaten Karo)

Tahura Bukit Barisan has good variety potentials to be developed. However, Tahura Bukit Barisan's management can not get maximal result if the rate of human's perception and participation haven't been known yet. Whereas, the rate of people's perception and participation in existing can be base for UPT Tahura Bukit Barisan manager to empower community, so that they will be more active in managing and using forest potency. So, the rate of community perception and participation of Tahura Bukit Barisan have to been known. Sampling technique uses purposive sampling. This research uses primer and secondary data. Primer data collected from survey and direct interview by quisioner. Then, counted the rate of community perception and participation by using formula, then it will be grouped into three categories namely high, medium and low. The result showed the level of peoples in Dolat Rayat, Jarang Uda and Merdeka Village are grouped into good perception, but rate of community participation for some activities such as planning, actuating, and evaluation are low

Kredit merupakan aktiva produktif yang sangat diandalkan oleh koperasi, karena dapat menghasilkan pendapatan terbesar. Kredit merupakan bisnis yang berisiko, di mana ada kemungkinan kredit yang diberikan tidak dapat dikembalikan yang akhirnya akan menjadi kredit bermasalah atau kredit macet. Untuk mengantisipasi risiko kerugian yang mungkin terjadi akibat dari penyaluran kredit dan untuk menekan persentase kenaikan kredit bermasalah ini pihak koperasi wajib membentuk cadangan penghapusan kredit. Metode pengumpulan datanya adalah wawancara dan dokumentasi. Jenis penelitian menggunakan data deskriptif kualitatif laporan keuangan KP-RI “SEHAT”. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa di KP-RI “SEHAT” dalam menyusun laporan keuangannya belum sesuai SAK ETAP, dalam hal ini terlihat pada neraca piutang macet dan cadangan kerugian piutang tidak di masukkan di dalam neraca. Peneliti mengharapkan KP-RI “SEHAT” lebih memahami SAK ETAP dalam menyusun laporan keuangannya
