Flux dynamics and vortex phase diagram of the new superconductor
Magnetic critical current density and relaxation rate have been measured on
bulks from 1.6 K to at magnetic fields up to 8 Tesla. A vortex
phase diagram is depicted based on these measurement. Two phase boundaries
and characterizing different irreversible
flux motions are found. The is characterized by the
appearance of the linear resistivity and is attributed to quantum vortex
melting induced by quantum fluctuation of vortices in the rather clean system.
The second boundary reflects the irreversible flux motion in
some local regions due to either very strong pinning or the surface barrier on
the tiny grains.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
Properties of odd nuclei and the impact of time-odd mean fields: A systematic Skyrme-Hartree-Fock analysis
We present a systematic analysis of the description of odd nuclei by the
Skyrme-Hartree-Fock approach augmented with pairing in BCS approximation and
blocking of the odd nucleon. Current and spin densities in the Skyrme
functional produce time-odd mean fields (TOMF) for odd nuclei. Their effect on
basic properties (binding energies, odd-even staggering, separation energies
and spectra) is investigated for the three Skyrme parameterizations SkI3, SLy6,
and SV-bas. About 1300 spherical and axially-deformed odd nuclei with 16 < Z <
92 are considered. The calculations demonstrate that the TOMF effect is
generally small, although not fully negligible. The influence of the Skyrme
parameterization and the consistency of the calculations are much more
important. With a proper choice of the parameterization, a good description of
binding energies and their differences is obtained, comparable to that for even
nuclei. The description of low-energy excitation spectra of odd nuclei is of
varying quality depending on the nucleus
Deep-learning-driven quantification of interstitial fibrosis in digitized kidney biopsies
Interstitial fibrosis and tubular atrophy (IFTA) on a renal biopsy are strong indicators of disease chronicity and prognosis. Techniques that are typically used for IFTA grading remain manual, leading to variability among pathologists. Accurate IFTA estimation using computational techniques can reduce this variability and provide quantitative assessment. Using trichrome-stained whole-slide images (WSIs) processed from human renal biopsies, we developed a deep-learning framework that captured finer pathologic structures at high resolution and overall context at the WSI level to predict IFTA grade. WSIs (n = 67) were obtained from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Five nephropathologists independently reviewed them and provided fibrosis scores that were converted to IFTA grades: ≤10% (none or minimal), 11% to 25% (mild), 26% to 50% (moderate), and >50% (severe). The model was developed by associating the WSIs with the IFTA grade determined by majority voting (reference estimate). Model performance was evaluated on WSIs (n = 28) obtained from the Kidney Precision Medicine Project. There was good agreement on the IFTA grading between the pathologists and the reference estimate (κ = 0.622 ± 0.071). The accuracy of the deep-learning model was 71.8% ± 5.3% on The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and 65.0% ± 4.2% on Kidney Precision Medicine Project data sets. Our approach to analyzing microscopic- and WSI-level changes in renal biopsies attempts to mimic the pathologist and provides a regional and contextual estimation of IFTA. Such methods can assist clinicopathologic diagnosis.U01 DK085660 - NIDDK NIH HHS; RF1 AG062109 - NIA NIH HHS; R21 CA253498 - NCI NIH HHS; R21 DK119751 - NIDDK NIH HHS; R01 HL132325 - NHLBI NIH HHS; UL1 TR001430 - NCATS NIH HHS; R56 AG062109 - NIA NIH HHS; R21 DK119740 - NIDDK NIH HHShttps://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.01.03.21249179v1.full.pd
Direct Measurements of the Branching Fractions for and and Determinations of the Form Factors and
The absolute branching fractions for the decays and
are determined using singly
tagged sample from the data collected around 3.773 GeV with the
BES-II detector at the BEPC. In the system recoiling against the singly tagged
meson, events for and events for decays are observed. Those yield
the absolute branching fractions to be and . The
vector form factors are determined to be
and . The ratio of the two form
factors is measured to be .Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
Measurements of J/psi Decays into 2(pi+pi-)eta and 3(pi+pi-)eta
Based on a sample of 5.8X 10^7 J/psi events taken with the BESII detector,
the branching fractions of J/psi--> 2(pi+pi-)eta and J/psi-->3(pi+pi-)eta are
measured for the first time to be (2.26+-0.08+-0.27)X10^{-3} and
(7.24+-0.96+-1.11)X10^{-4}, respectively.Comment: 11 pages, 6 figure
BESII Detector Simulation
A Monte Carlo program based on Geant3 has been developed for BESII detector
simulation. The organization of the program is outlined, and the digitization
procedure for simulating the response of various sub-detectors is described.
Comparisons with data show that the performance of the program is generally
satisfactory.Comment: 17 pages, 14 figures, uses elsart.cls, to be submitted to NIM
Measurement of branching fractions for the inclusive Cabibbo-favored ~K*0(892) and Cabibbo-suppressed K*0(892) decays of neutral and charged D mesons
The branching fractions for the inclusive Cabibbo-favored ~K*0 and
Cabibbo-suppressed K*0 decays of D mesons are measured based on a data sample
of 33 pb-1 collected at and around the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with
the BES-II detector at the BEPC collider. The branching fractions for the
decays D+(0) -> ~K*0(892)X and D0 -> K*0(892)X are determined to be BF(D0 ->
\~K*0X) = (8.7 +/- 4.0 +/- 1.2)%, BF(D+ -> ~K*0X) = (23.2 +/- 4.5 +/- 3.0)% and
BF(D0 -> K*0X) = (2.8 +/- 1.2 +/- 0.4)%. An upper limit on the branching
fraction at 90% C.L. for the decay D+ -> K*0(892)X is set to be BF(D+ -> K*0X)

The pole in
Using a sample of 58 million events recorded in the BESII detector,
the decay is studied. There are conspicuous
and signals. At low mass, a large
broad peak due to the is observed, and its pole position is determined
to be - MeV from the mean of six analyses.
The errors are dominated by the systematic errors.Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures, submitted to PL
Study of

Search for the Lepton Flavor Violation Processes and
The lepton flavor violation processes and are
searched for using a sample of 5.8 events collected with
the BESII detector. Zero and one candidate events, consistent with the
estimated background, are observed in and
decays, respectively. Upper limits on the branching ratios are determined to be
and at the 90% confidence level (C.L.).Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure
