Rendering Using Deep Shadowmaps
Rendering shadows of transparent objects in real-time applications is difficult. The number of usable methods is limited by the available computing power. Depth Peeling and Dual Depth Peeling methods are described in this document. These allow rendering of transparent objects without the need of sorting them. Deep Shadow Maps are described as a method for rendering shadows of transparent objects. These methods were used to create an demonstration application. This application provides rendering of transparent objects and their shadows, including colored ones. The Application is build upon OpenGL and Qt framework. Evaluation of rendering speed according to various parameters is also part of this work.
Tool for Fireworks Design and Simulation
Do aplikace lze přidávat další efekty pomocí pluginů.Topic of this thesis is design of Tool for Fireworks Design and Simulation. Design patterns for object oriented programming are used for application design. The application is developed in Java programming language. Firework effects are visualized by particle systems, which are implemented using Java3D library. The application allows modification of effect parameters, inserting them on timeline and then simulate. The application is able to play background sound while simulation is running. The application can be extended by new effects using plugins.

Relationship Between Filial Deprivation Experience and Adjustment to Residential Treatment in Seven-To-Fourteen-Year-Old Children
This study was designed to determine the relationship between the adjustment to residential treatment of seven- to fourteen-year-old children and their mothers' experience of filial deprivation (or separation experience) during placement. Also included as predictors of the children's adjustment in this study were parental alienation, parental self-esteem, parental involvement in the children's treatment, and whether the placement had been supported (agreed to by the mother) or not. Also examined was the relationship between parental involvement and filial deprivation and whether the placement was supported or non-supported.
Thirty mothers who had children admitted to a short-term residential treatment center (maximum ninety days), and thirty others who had children admitted to long-term treatment (one to two years) were interviewed within eleven months of admission. The adjustment of the children was assessed by rating scales completed by social workers and child care workers.
Factor analysis of maternal reports of feelings following placement yielded four dimensions of filial deprivation in the population of mothers: anger and shame, guilt with sadness, bitterness, and thankfulness. Results indicated that filial deprivation is related to children's adjustment, especially in the areas of peer relationships and hostility. In addition, there was a negative relationship between maternal guilt with sadness and the frequency of contact of the mother with the social worker.
Several significant relationships were found between aspects of the mother's personality and the adjustment of her child.
The findings were discussed in relation to: possible social work interventions, the impact of institutional care on parents, and the provision of social services for seriously emotionally-disturbed children
Running-in of machine elements
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the effect of topography change on the running-in of a machine element. The objective was to evaluate the time change of the friction coefficient during running-in of five steel balls with different surface treatment. The experiment was performed in mixed lubrication regime. There was also a task to measure the change of surface topography after a concrete time intervals. Another task was to evaluate a fluid film thickness for every steel ball. The output of the measurement are graphs containing the time function of friction coefficient and time change of selected surface topography parameters. The change of topography was also displayed on Abbott-Firestone curves and the fluid film evaluation was compared with the predicted value. The thesis improves knowledge about running-in process and provides comparison for surface machining by three different types of sandpaper and shown change in the behaviour of machine element after lapping or polishing.
