Spintessence: a possible candidate as a driver of the late time cosmic acceleration
In this paper, it is shown completely analytically that a spintessence model
can very well serve the purpose of providing an early deceleration and the
present day acceleration.Comment: 5 pages, no figure. Accepted for publication in Astrophysics and

Modified gravity with negative and positive powers of the curvature: unification of the inflation and of the cosmic acceleration
The modified gravity, which eliminates the need for dark energy and which
seems to be stable, is considered. The terms with positive powers of the
curvature support the inflationary epoch while the terms with negative powers
of the curvature serve as effective dark energy, supporting current cosmic
acceleration. The equivalent scalar-tensor gravity may be compatible with the
simplest solar system experiments.Comment: 23 pages, 3 figures, discussion is extended, references added,

Cosmology with a long range repulsive force
We consider a class of cosmological models in which the universe is filled
with a (non-electric) charge density that repels itself by means of a force
carried by a vector boson with a tiny mass. When the vector's mass depends upon
other fields, the repulsive interaction gives rise to an electromagnetic
barrier which prevents these fields from driving the mass to zero. This can
modify the cosmology dramatically. We present a very simple realization of this
idea in which the vector's mass arises from a scalar field. The electromagnetic
barrier prevents this field from rolling down its potential and thereby leads
to accelerated expansion.Comment: 15 pages, 8 figures, LaTeX (version accepted for publication in PRD).

Crossing the phantom divide with Ricci-like holographic dark energy
We study a holographic model for the dark energy considered recently in the
literature which postulates an energy density , where is the
Ricci scalar curvature. We obtain a cosmological scenario that comes from
considering two non-interacting fluids along a reasonable Ansatz for the cosmic
coincidence parameter. We adjust the involved parameters in the model according
to the observational data and we show that the equation of state for the dark
energy experience a cross through the -1 barrier. In addition, we find a
disagreement in these parameters with respect to an approach from a scalar
field theory.Comment: Match with accepted version by EPJ
Stability of Circular Orbits in General Relativity: A Phase Space Analysis
Phase space method provides a novel way for deducing qualitative features of
nonlinear differential equations without actually solving them. The method is
applied here for analyzing stability of circular orbits of test particles in
various physically interesting environments. The approach is shown to work in a
revealing way in Schwarzschild spacetime. All relevant conclusions about
circular orbits in the Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime are shown to be
remarkably encoded in a single parameter. The analysis in the rotating Kerr
black hole readily exposes information as to how stability depends on the ratio
of source rotation to particle angular momentum. As a wider application, it is
exemplified how the analysis reveals useful information when applied to motion
in a refractive medium, for instance, that of optical black holes.Comment: 20 pages. Accepted for publication in Int. J. theor. Phy
Validity of Generalized Second Law of Thermodynamics in the Logamediate and Intermediate scenarios of the Universe
In this work, we have investigated the validity of the generalized second law
of thermodynamics in logamediate and intermediate scenarios of the universe
bounded by the Hubble, apparent, particle and event horizons using and without
using first law of thermodynamics. We have observed that the GSL is valid for
Hubble, apparent, particle and event horizons of the universe in the
logamediate scenario of the universe using first law and without using first
law. Similarly the GSL is valid for all horizons in the intermediate scenario
of the universe using first law. Also in the intermediate scenario of the
universe, the GSL is valid for Hubble, apparent and particle horizons but it
breaks down whenever we consider the universe enveloped by the event horizon
Interacting New Agegraphic Dark Energy in a Cyclic Universe
The main goal of this work is investigation of NADE in the cyclic universe
scenario. Since, cyclic universe is explained by a phantom phase (),
it is shown when there is no interaction between matter and dark energy, ADE
and NADE do not produce a phantom phase, then can not describe cyclic universe.
Therefore, we study interacting models of ADE and NADE in the modified
Friedmann equation. We find out that, in the high energy regime, which it is a
necessary part of cyclic universe evolution, only NADE can describe this
phantom phase era for cyclic universe. Considering deceleration parameter tells
us that the universe has a deceleration phase after an acceleration phase, and
NADE is able to produce a cyclic universe. Also it is found valuable to study
generalized second law of thermodynamics. Since the loop quantum correction is
taken account in high energy regime, it may not be suitable to use standard
treatment of thermodynamics, so we turn our attention to the result of
\citep{29}, which the authors have studied thermodynamics in loop quantum
gravity, and we show that which condition can satisfy generalized second law of
thermodynamics.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure
On perfect fluid models in non-comoving observational spherical coordinates
We use null spherical (observational) coordinates to describe a class of
inhomogeneous cosmological models. The proposed cosmological construction is
based on the observer past null cone. A known difficulty in using inhomogeneous
models is that the null geodesic equation is not integrable in general. Our
choice of null coordinates solves the radial ingoing null geodesic by
construction. Furthermore, we use an approach where the velocity field is
uniquely calculated from the metric rather than put in by hand. Conveniently,
this allows us to explore models in a non-comoving frame of reference. In this
frame, we find that the velocity field has shear, acceleration and expansion
rate in general. We show that a comoving frame is not compatible with expanding
perfect fluid models in the coordinates proposed and dust models are simply not
possible. We describe the models in a non-comoving frame. We use the dust
models in a non-comoving frame to outline a fitting procedure.Comment: 8 pages, 1 figure. To appear in Phys.Rev.
Limits on decaying dark energy density models from the CMB temperature-redshift relation
The nature of the dark energy is still a mystery and several models have been
proposed to explain it. Here we consider a phenomenological model for dark
energy decay into photons and particles as proposed by Lima (J. Lima, Phys.
Rev. D 54, 2571 (1996)). He studied the thermodynamic aspects of decaying dark
energy models in particular in the case of a continuous photon creation and/or
disruption. Following his approach, we derive a temperature redshift relation
for the CMB which depends on the effective equation of state and on
the "adiabatic index" . Comparing our relation with the data on the CMB
temperature as a function of the redshift obtained from Sunyaev-Zel'dovich
observations and at higher redshift from quasar absorption line spectra, we
find , adopting for the adiabatic index ,
in good agreement with current estimates and still compatible with
, implying that the dark energy content being constant in time.Comment: 8 pages, 1 figur
Transverse Wave Propagation in Relativistic Two-fluid Plasmas in de Sitter Space
We investigate transverse electromagnetic waves propagating in a plasma in
the de Sitter space. Using the 3+1 formalism we derive the relativistic
two-fluid equations to take account of the effects due to the horizon and
describe the set of simultaneous linear equations for the perturbations. We use
a local approximation to investigate the one-dimensional radial propagation of
Alfv\'en and high frequency electromagnetic waves and solve the dispersion
relation for these waves numerically.Comment: 19 pages, 12 figure
