    Get PDF
A 31-year-old pregnant woman presented with headache, fever and left-sided focal motor seizures, which progressed to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures. Her medical history included Crohn's disease treated with azathioprine and adalimumab, which were discontinued when she became pregnant. Her cerebro-spinal fluid was entirely normal and viral PCR negative. Extensive testing for infectious, autoimmune or malignant causes of encephalitis were non-revealing. MRI head showed unilateral cortical FLAIR-hyperintensity which on interval scans was seen bilaterally. Anti-myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG)-IgG was positive leading to a diagnosis of cortical FLAIR-hyperintense lesions in Anti-MOG-associated Encephalitis with seizures (FLAMES)

Low conversion copolymerization of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidon M.W = (111.14) VP (monomer-1) has been conducted with acrylic acid AA and methymethacrylate MMA in ethanol at 70ºC , using Benzoyl peroxide BPO as initiator . The copolymer composition has been determined by elemental analysis. The monomer reactivity ratios have been calculated by the Kelen-Tudos and Finman-Ross graphical procedures . The derived reactivity ratios (r1 , r2 ) are : (0.51 , 4.85) for (VP / AA ) systems and (0.34 , 7.58) for (VP , MMA) systems , and found the reactivity ratios of the monomer AA , MMA is mor than the monomer VP in the copolymerization of (VP / AA) and (VP /MMA) systems respectly . The reactivity ratios values were used for microstructures calculation

    Get PDF
A series of new 2-quinolone derivatives linked to benzene sulphonyl moieties were performed by many steps: the first step involved preparation of different coumarins (A1,A2) by condensation of different substituted phenols with ethyl acetoacetate. The compound A1 was treated with nitric acid to afford two isomers of nitrocoumarin derivatives (A3) and (A4). The prepared compounds (A2, A3) were treated with hydrazine hydrate to synthesize different 2-quinolone compounds (A5,A6) while the coumarin treated with different amines gave compounds (A7,A8). Then the synthesized 2-quinolone compounds (A5-A8) treated with benzene sulphonyl chloride to afford new sulfonamide derivatives (A9-A12). The synthesized compounds were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR spectra and by measurement some of their physical properties

Precision sculptured surface CNC machining using cutter location data

    Get PDF
Industrial parts with sculptured surfaces are typically, manufactured with the use of CNC machining technology and CAM software to generate surface tool paths. To assess tool paths computed for 3-and 5-axis machining, the machining error is evaluated in advance referring to the parameter controlling the linearization of high-order curves, as well as the scallop yielded as a function of radial cutting engagement parameter. The two parameters responsible for the machining error are modeled and corresponding cutter location data for tool paths are utilized to compare actual trajectories with theoretical curves on a sculptured surface assessing thus the deviation when virtual tools are employed to maintain low cost; whilst ensuring high precision cutting. This operation is supported by applying a flexible automation code capable of computing the tool path; extracting its CL data; importing them to the CAD part and finally projecting them onto the part’s surface. For a given tolerance, heights from projected instances are computed for tool paths created by changing the parameters under a cutting strategy, towards the identification of the optimum tool path. To represent a global solution rough machining is also discussed prior to finish machining where the new proposals are mainly applied.</jats:p

Hybrid methodologies of 3D beams reverse geometry analysis with embedded quality tools within the boundaries of a modern computer-aided design system

    Get PDF
Modern CAD systems are essential in all phases of designing, evaluating and manufacturing mechanical parts. Efficient integration of CAE tools into modern CAD environments results in highly accurate procedures within a short time frame. In this work, a comparative study is presented, based on two novel hybrid methodologies for evaluating and optimising the reconstruction procedure for a 3D beam with an arbitrary cross-section. Both methodologies combine adaptive meshing techniques with quality tools (Taguchi method and response surface methodology), within the boundaries of a modern CAD system for the formation of the boundary element method (BEM) mathematical model. The application of such a methodology as an integrated CAD/CAE tool offers students and inexperienced engineers an excellent overview on the behaviour of structures in various loading and boundary conditions

This is the final version. Available on open access from Elsevier via the DOI in this recordAvailability of data and materials: Data available within the article or its supplementary materials.Black rosehip (Rosa pimpinellifolia) fruit is rich in nutrients that could be valorised and used as a functional food ingredient. Drying can be applied to increase the applications of this fruit. Drying can influence the composition of heat-sensitive phytochemicals and the matrix in terms of the texture and microstructure of the fruit. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of convective drying in terms of drying temperature (50–80 °C) and airflow (0.5–1.5 m/s) on phenolic acids, flavonoids, and anthocyanins content, texture, and microstructure of dried black rosehip fruit. Catechin and epicatechin, as the two main flavonoids, were in their highest concentration in fruits dried at 70 °C. The highest levels of cyanidin-3-glucoside, cyanine chloride, cyanidin-3-rutinoside, and pelargonidin-3-glucoside were determined at 70 °C and 1.5 m/s. The sample dried at 50 °C exhibited the highest concentrations of chlorogenic acid, fumaric acid, gallic acid, protocatechuic acid, quercetin, and quercetin-3-glucoside. The hardness, cohesiveness, and resilience were among the key texture parameters that were affected by drying temperature. The applied drying temperatures and air velocities induced substantial effects on the fruit microstructure. Considering these changes, it is important to assess the bioaccessibility and bioavailability of nutrients from dried black rosehip fruit in future research.Ondokuz Mayıs University Scientific Research Projects Offic
