OBJECTIVES: To study the relationship between behavioural profile of children suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and the previous behavioural style of these patients as toddlers. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: We asked the parents of 50 schoolchildren with ADHD, and those of 30 controls, to fill in a Spanish version of the Toddler Behaviour Questionnaire (TBQ) from their retrospective perception of their children's behaviour as toddlers. TBQ items were grouped by factor analysis; t-Student between the scores of both groups and a multiple correlation analysis of TBQ and DSM-IV-ADHD-RS in each of the groups were used. RESULTS: Children in the ADHD group were reported by parents to have had a different toddler behavioural profile in comparison to that of control children (P<0.05). These differences were associated with adapting to new environments, mood, regularity and stability of play behaviour. A correlation was found between behavioural profile in DSM-IV-ADHD- RS and TBQ. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study should be interpreted with caution. However, they suggest that in the fifth trimester of life a particular behavioural style as regards regularity, stability of play, and mood, could indicate a risk of developing ADHD in the future. This behavioural style should be taken into consideration in rearing and early education prospective studies

Introduction: Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have modified the way knowledge is transmitted and assimilated. In medical education, they are considered fundamental for the optimization of the teaching-learning process, to favor the appropriation and integration of knowledge, and to support classroom activities. An effective application of these tools requires the identification of the most difficult topics for students, allowing to precisely address their use for the solution of learning problems. Methods: The Biochemistry topic with more difficulties was identified and a virtual tool was designed with animated slides, drawings and graphs that would address it. Students received conceptual guidance that they prepared and discussed with the professor. Later on, they accessed the tool to reinforce homework. The efficacy of the tool was evaluated on comparing the results of the evaluations before and after applying it and evaluated the students’ attitude towards their use. Results: The global difficulty index identified the metabolism of nitrogen compounds as a critical issue. The implementation of the tool increased the success in the intra- and inter-semester quizzes. The students’ attitude towards the use of the tool was favorable, they considered it useful to reinforce their knowledge and to improve their academic training. Conclusion: The use of the information and communication technologies in higher education favors the process of self-learning and raises the need for a greater integration or structured and adapted implementation of this type of tools to the students’ environment. © 2017, Editorial Ciencias Medicas. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the effect of factors of personal life and work conditions on the results obtained by inseminators in conventional and fixed-timed artificial insemination programs in beef cattle. Inseminators from three farms (21 in the total) were interviewed and evaluated according to the general obtained pregnancy rates. The differences among the pregnancy rates obtained in the farms, motivation and its association with the obtained pregnancy rate and the effect of each variable of the groups of needs on the pregnancy rate at first insemination were evaluated. The open questions were grouped by similarity and then analyzed by frequency of the answers. Pregnancy rates obtained by the inseminators ranged from 12 to 57%, with a mean service index of 3.10 ± 1.62 doses/pregnancy. It was also observed that the satisfaction of biological, financial, and training needs was more intimately related to the pregnancy rate than the satisfaction of the other needs, although none had shown an antagonistic relationship with it. Factors concerned to life quality and to the work can be important in determining the performance of these professionals.<br>Objetivou-se avaliar o efeito de fatores ligados à vida pessoal e ao trabalho sobre os resultados obtidos por inseminadores em programas de inseminação artificial convencional e em tempo fixo em bovinos de corte.
