Universal spectral correlations in ensembles of random normal matrices

We consider non-gaussian ensembles of random normal matrices with the constraint that the ensembles are invariant under unitary transformations. We show that the level density of eigenvalues exhibits disk to ring transition in the complex plane. We also show that the n-eigenvalue correlation and the spacing distribution are universal and identical to that of complex (Gaussian) Ginibre ensemble. Our results are confirmed by Monte Carlo calculations. We verify the universality for dissipative quantum kicked rotor system.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figure

Solving Target Coverage Problem in Wireless Sensor Network Using Genetic Algorithm

    Get PDF
The past few years have seen tremendous increase of interest in the field of wireless sensor network. These wireless sensor network comprise numerous small sensor nodes distributed in an area and collect specific data from that area. The nodes comprising a network are mostly battery driven and hence have a limited amount of energy. The target coverage deals with the surveillance of the area under consideration taking into account the energy constraint associated with nodes. In nutshell, the lifetime of the network is to be maximized while ensuring that all the targets are monitored. The approach of segregating the nodes into various covers is used such that each cover can monitor all the targets while other nodes in remaining covers are in sleep state. The covers are scheduled to operate in turn thereby ensuring that the targets are monitored all the time and the lifetime of the network is also maximized. The segregation method is based on Maximum Set Cover (MSC) problem which is transformed into Maximum Disjoint Set Cover problem (MDSC). This problem of finding Maximum Disjoint Set Cover falls under the category of NP-Complete problem. Hence, two heuristics based approach are discussed in this work; first Greedy Heuristic is implemented to be used as baseline. Then a Genetic Algorithm based approach is proposed that can solve this problem by evolutionary global search technique. The existing and proposed algorithms are coded and functionality verified using MATLAB R2010b and performance evaluation and comparisons are made in terms of number of sensors and sensing range

Dietary and Nutritional Value of Fish Oil, and Fermented Products

    Get PDF
Present review article explains the dietary and nutritional value of various fish derived natural food products. Fish is a good source of important nutrients such as proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. Fish oil contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) mainly omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and eicosanoids. Fish contains high-quality protein ( ~ 14-16 percent) and is consumed worldwide. This article also emphasizes therapeutic uses of fish nutrients and oil in healing of wounds, hyper pigmentation, dermatitis, and in cardiovascular risks. Fish oil polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are highly beneficial in cardiovascular problems and dermatitis. Fish oil is good for skin-related diseases such as photo-ageing and melanogenesis These also affect anticancer, wound healing and anti-depressant activity. In the present review various local, national, and international processed fish derived food currently available in the market fish dishes have been mentioned

Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis of Aflatoxins in Dry Fruits and Nuts from Central India

    Get PDF
In central part of India, dry fruits and nuts are mostly sold in loose conditions and hence may get fungal infections, and may have aflatoxins to the levels beyond the safe limits. The present study is an attempt to showcase the present scenario of aflatoxins in dry fruits and nuts from Central India, both qualitatively and quantatively. Out of 84 samples, 15 were found to have the presence of at least one aflatoxin. HPLC detection showed that AFB1 is the major aflatoxin. The total aflatoxins were found in the range of 25.4 - 393.51 μg kg-1, which is beyond the safe limit set by regulatory authorities. Further, dry figs were the most contaminated among tested dry fruits, and 5 out 12 samples (41.6%) were contaminated, followed by cashew nuts (33.3%). Samples sold in loose packing were found more contaminated with aflatoxins. The study advocates that selling of such dry fruits in loose form should be banned by the regulatory authorities

Changes in elemental composition of scales of Channa punctatus on treatment with mercury

    Get PDF
In the present study different regions in the scales of Channa punctatus were investigated for elemental composition to see the impact of mercury on them. Five sublethal concentrations of mercury were used after calculating the LC50 value which is 1.21mg/L in 96 hours. When focal and lepidontal regions of scales were seen under electron probe analysis (JEOL 8600M), they were composed of four major elements and these are: calcium (Ca); iron (Fe); aluminium (Al); and phosphorus (P). The percent composition of calcium was recorded to be maximum, followed by phosphorus, aluminium and iron. The percent composition of each element upon exposure to mercury was compared to corresponding control and the deviations were observed. When fish was exposed to different sublethal concentrations of mercury for 15d and 30d, an increase was observed in percentage composition of aluminium and phosphorus, whereas reverse trend was noticed for calcium and iron
