    In this project an ECG signal processing module will be implemented in VHDL on FPGA platform. The digital filtering will be carried out with low pass FIR architecture. Filters shall filter the 50 Hz coupled noise and other high frequency noises. The filtered signal is subjected to Short Time Fourier transform by which lot of inferences can be made by medical experts. A recorded ECG signal will be used as test input to test the modules implemented on FPGA. The Modelsim Xilinx Edition and Xilinx Integrated Software Environment will be used simulation and synthesis respectively. The Xilinx Chipscope tool will be used to test the results, while the logic running on FPGA. The Xilinx Spartan 3 Family FPGA development board will be used this project

Four antennas designed are presented in the following chapters. The first design is a compact dual band microstrip antenna which produces dual band characteristics. The second design is a compact wideband microstrip antenna that has wideband characteristics which have applications in health care,medical field like health monitoring and imaging in intensive health care units,pediatric units,emergency situation like heart beat rescue. The third one is the Design of circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna using a pair of inserted slits. The fourth one is the design of hexagonal shaped patch antenna using coplanar waveguide feed. The antennas designed above have better radiation characteristics with improved bandwidth

    Edge detection is the process of segmenting an image by detecting discontinuities in brightness. So far, several standard segmentation methods have been widely used for edge detection. However, due to inherent quality of images, these methods prove ineffective if they are applied without any preprocessing. In this paper, an image preprocessing approach has been adopted in order to get certain parameters that are useful to perform better edge detection with the standard edge detection methods. The proposed preprocessing approach involves median filtering to reduce the noise in image and then Edge Detection technique is carried out. And atlast Standard edge detection methods can be applied to the resultant preprocessing image and its Simulation results are show that our preprocessed approach when used with a standard edge detection method enhances its performance

    Background: The aim of the study was to study the effect of preoperative flexion deformity on the postoperative knee range of motion following total knee arthroplasty.Methods: A total of 28 knees were studied out of which twenty were osteoarthritis and eight were rheumatoid arthritis. Cruciate substituting and cruciate retaining implants were used. Patients above the age of 45 years with a minimum follow up period of two years from April 2010 were studied.Results: 28 knees had an average preoperative range of motion of 87.678. Patients with preoperative flexion deformity had postoperative range of motion of 97.5 degrees. The average postoperative flexion in 8 rheumatoid patients was 96.25 and 20 osteoarthritis patients was 107.462.Conclusions: The average postoperative range of motion was 105.538. Patients with a higher pre-operative range of motion had higher postoperative range of motion. Rheumatoid patients had a significantly low range of motion when compared to osteoarthritis patients. Patients with increased fixed flexion deformity had a significantly low postoperative range of motion
