Dead Reckoning Localization Technique for Mobile Wireless Sensor Networks
Localization in wireless sensor networks not only provides a node with its
geographical location but also a basic requirement for other applications such
as geographical routing. Although a rich literature is available for
localization in static WSN, not enough work is done for mobile WSNs, owing to
the complexity due to node mobility. Most of the existing techniques for
localization in mobile WSNs uses Monte-Carlo localization, which is not only
time-consuming but also memory intensive. They, consider either the unknown
nodes or anchor nodes to be static. In this paper, we propose a technique
called Dead Reckoning Localization for mobile WSNs. In the proposed technique
all nodes (unknown nodes as well as anchor nodes) are mobile. Localization in
DRLMSN is done at discrete time intervals called checkpoints. Unknown nodes are
localized for the first time using three anchor nodes. For their subsequent
localizations, only two anchor nodes are used. The proposed technique estimates
two possible locations of a node Using Bezouts theorem. A dead reckoning
approach is used to select one of the two estimated locations. We have
evaluated DRLMSN through simulation using Castalia simulator, and is compared
with a similar technique called RSS-MCL proposed by Wang and Zhu .Comment: Journal Paper, IET Wireless Sensor Systems, 201
Crowdsourcing Based Social Awareness for Taboo Diseases Like HIV/AIDS
Creating social awareness for sexually transmitted diseases, such as HIV/AIDS is critical. The 2015 UNAIDS statistics shows that newly infected cases of HIV/AIDS has fallen down by 35% since 2000, worldwide. However, the statistics of Fiji tells a different story. The newly infected HIV/AIDS cases in Fiji has been increasing every year since 2000. Different HIV/AIDS awareness programs have been launched previously such as, workshops and seminars. Despite these efforts, there has been no reduction in the newly infected HIV/AIDS cases. Fiji's health sector is still using traditional approaches for building public awareness. Therefore, the primary purpose of this study is to explore the benefits of crowdsourcing in developing the social awareness on taboo diseases among Fijians. Data for this study were collected through questionnaire and experimental methods from the people living with HIV as well as from the young Fijians, such as secondary and tertiary students. The result clearly showed that crowdsourcing can be an effective means of assisting Fiji's public health by reaching out to the remote areas, reducing the program costs, and assisting thousands of people simultaneously
Image Processing With Dipole-Coupled Nanomagnets: Noise Suppression and Edge Enhancement Detection
Hardware-based image processing offers speed and convenience not found in software-centric approaches. Here, we show theoretically that a 2-D periodic array of dipole-coupled elliptical nanomagnets, delineated on a piezoelectric substrate, can act as a dynamical system for specific image processing functions. Each nanomagnet has two stable magnetization states that encode pixel color (black or white). An image containing black and white pixels is first converted to voltage states and then mapped into the magnetization states of a nanomagnet array with magneto-tunneling junctions (MTJs). The same MTJs are employed to read out the processed pixel colors later. Dipole interaction between the nanomagnets implements specific image processing tasks, such as noise reduction and edge enhancement detection. These functions are triggered by applying a global strain to the nanomagnets with a voltage dropped across the piezoelectric substrate. An image containing an arbitrary number of black and white pixels can be processed in few nanoseconds with very low energy cost
Problems of Female School Teachers in District Kulgam (J&K)
The purpose of this study is to find the problems of employed female school teachers in district Kulgam. Sample of 100 employed women are selected from different education institutions as 20 Rehaber e Taleem (ReT) female teachers, 40 female teachers, 20 female masters and 20 female lecturers using stratified random sampling. In this study we use descriptive analysis that highlights the problems faced by working women in educational institutes. ReT women are facing low status, non-recognition of their jobs and want higher wages for their work. Keywords: Female Teachers, Problems, Educational Institutes of District Kulgam
Posterior reversible encephalopathy and status epilepticus in Takayasu arteritis
Takayasu arteritis (TA) is a rare, systemic, chronic inflammatory condition causing granulomatous vasculitis of medium-sized and large arteries of unknown etiology. A possible relationship between Takayasu arteritis and tuberculosis has been suggested but not proven until now. Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) and seizure are rare complications. We report a case of Takayasu arteritis with lymph node tuberculosis presented with status epilepticus and Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome
Thermal evolution of single-particle spectral function in the half-filled Hubbard model and pseudogap
In the half-filled one-orbital Hubbard model on a square lattice, we find
pseduogap features in the form of two-peak structures associated with the
momentum-resolved spectral function, which exists within the temperature window
. is the temperature below which there
exists a well-formed dip in the density of state. Inside the window , the peak-to-peak separation in the two-peak structure
of the momentum-resolved spectral function rises on moving away from the point
() along the normal state Fermi surface towards , a
behavior remarkably similar to what is observed in the pseudogap phase. We
unveil these features by using a parallelized cluster-based Monte-Carlo method
for simulating the magnetic order parameter fields on a superlattice, which
enables us to access the momentum-resolved single-particle spectral function
corresponding to a lattice size of 240 240 with almost
negligible finite-size effects.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, critical comments and suggestions are welcom
Neurogenic bladder in a young female
This is an uncommon case of 25 year old female, who presented with lower abdominal pain and lower urinary tract symptoms along with suprapubic distension. Initially was thought to be a pelvic malignancy, but through ultrasound examination was found to be due to neurogenic bladder
