The main goal of the Innovations in Technology Dissemination (ITD)component of the National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP) is to increase farmers input into programme planning and resource allocation especially at the block level and to increase accountabili ty of stakeholders. Further, it is also to increase the programme coordination and integration so that program thrust such as Farming System Innovation, Farmers' Organization, Technical Gaps, and Natural Resource Management can be more effectively and efficiently implemented. Objectives: To review the SREP methodology followed in the pilot districts with a focus on linkages and identification and prioritization of research, extension and development issues; To analyze the mechanism followed in each state for implementation of SREP outputs in operationalizing strategies evolved; To identify the gaps in SREP methodology and its implementation process and suggest appropriate measures to overcome the gaps; and To evolve future directions for up-scaling and institutionalization of SREP approach systems, structures and functional dimensions.Research and Development/Tech Change/Emerging Technologies,

A novel predictive optimization scheme for energy-efficient reliable operation of a sensor in dynamic scenarios

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has been studied for more than a decades that resulted in evolution of the significant applications towards assisting in sensing physical information from human inaccesible area. It was also observed from existing sysem that energy attribute is the root cause of majority of the problems associated with WSN that also gives rise to various operational reliability issue. Therefore, the prime goal of the proposed study is to present a novel predictive optimization approach of data fusion in order to jointly address the problems associated with energy efficiency and reliable operation of sensor nodes in WSN. An analytical research approach is carried out in order to ensure that a time-based synchronization scheme contributes to offer an evolutionary approach towards significant energy optimization. A simulation-based benchmarking analysis is carried out to find that proposed system offers good energy-efficient performance in comparison to existing approaches

Background: This study was undertaken to determine the correlation of amniotic fluid stained with meconium (MSAF) with maternal and fetal outcome. Methods: This prospective observational study was carried out in the Department of obstetrics and gynecology, Yenepoya medical college, Mangalore over a period of 14 months between January 2013 to march 2014. A total of 1000 pregnant women who had completed more than 37weeks of gestation with singleton pregnancies & cephalic presentation were included in this study. MSAF on spontaneous or artificial rupture of membranes were monitored during labour with fetal heart rate abnormality, consistency of liquor, 1 minute and 5 minute Apgar score, LSCS, instrumental delivery, NICU admissions and neonatal complications as outcome variables. Results: Women were divided into two groups: 350 women with MSAF as cases, while 650 women with clear liquor were taken as controls. Among 350 cases with MSAF, 70 % were unbooked and 30 % were booked pts. About 75.7% of women were between 20-30 years of age-group. Primi gravidas constituted 51.4% in study group. Approximately 41.4% cases had gestational ages of 39 -39+6. Among MSAF 55.4% were thin stained & 44.5%were thickly stained. 45.7% showed fetal heart abnormalities on electronic monitoring & presence of fetal bradycardia was higher. Caesarean section rates were nearly triple in cases (45.7% vs 15.7%). Fetal out come in regard to Apgar score at birth, birth asphyxia, MAS, increased NICU admissions were more in cases. Incidence of Male to female was high (52.6% vs 47.3%).Conclusions: Presence of MSAF is worrisome for both the obstetrician and pediatricians view as it increases surgical intervention, birth asphyxia, MAS & NICU admissions

Three new Ni(II) square planar complexes of 4-methoxy-3-benzyloxybenzaldehyde thiosemicarbazide(4m3BTSC) having polypyridyl bases of general formulation [ML2] (1) and [MLB] (2, 3), where L = 4m3BTSC and B is N,N-donor heterocyclic bases, namely, 1,10-phenanthroline (phen, 2), 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy, 3), are synthesized and characterized. The free radical scavenging assay results showed that complex 1 possesses significant activity when compared to complexes 2 and 3. The biological studies showed that the ligand and its complexes exhibited significant and different biological activities and also the prepared compounds are nonmutagenic. They may be potential commercial antioxidants because of their nonmutagenic and nontoxic nature. The DNA interaction of the new complexes is evaluated by absorption, emission, and melting temperature methods, and the results suggested that the binding affinity of the complexes increases with the presence of planar ligand in the molecule. The nickel (II) complexes with planar phenanthroline bases show moderate DNA binding and cleavage ability
