    Understanding of On-Chip Power Supply Noise: Suppression Methodologies and Challenges

    The on-chip activities of any modern IC are always inhibited due to the occurrence of power supply noise (PSN) in the chip power line. From many decades, researchers are pondering on what are the major issue of this PSN occurrence and how it can be suppressed without interfering the actual chip functioning. In the course of time, it is found that the uncontrolled triggering of the on-chip system clock and the unguarded on-chip power line is instigating the two major factors for the occurrence of PSN i.e., i(t) → instantaneous current and di/dt → current ramp or the rate of change of current over time. Both i(t) and di/dt are also the sub-factors to rise the PSN components like resistive noise and inductive noise respectively. In this chapter, we light upon the occurrence of resistive and inductive noise as well as depict their individual impact on the PSN occurrences. There is also discussion on how PSN is suppressed over the years in spite of facing challenges in the execution of suppression techniques. This chapter even concludes on the suitable ways for mitigating PSN in the contemporary era of delivering complex on-chip features

    We calculate the size distribution of quark nuggets, which could be formed due to first order QCD phase transition in the early universe.     Survival of orbiting in 20^{20}Ne (7 - 10 MeV/nucleon) + 12^{12}C reactions

    The inclusive energy distributions of fragments with Z \geq 3 emitted from the bombardment of 12^{12}C by 20^{20}Ne beams with incident energies between 145 and 200 MeV have been measured in the angular range θlab\theta_{lab} \sim 10^\circ - 50^\circ. Damped fragment yields in all cases have been found to be characteristic of emission from fully energy equilibrated composites; for B, C fragments, average Q-values, , were independent of the centre of mass emission angle (θc.m\theta_{c.m}), and the angular distributions followed \sim1/sinθc.m\theta_{c.m} like variation, signifying long life times of the emitting di-nuclear systems. Total yields of these fragments have been found to be much larger compared to the standard statistical model predictions of the same. This may be indicative of the survival of orbiting like process in 12^{12}C + 20^{20}Ne system at these energies.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.     Chronic inflammation in polycystic ovary syndrome: A case–control study using multiple markers

    Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with insulin resistance and elevated risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Chronic inflammation has been observed in PCOS in several studies but there is also opposing evidence and a dearth of research in Indians. Objective: To estimate chronic inflammation in PCOS and find its relationship with appropriate anthropometric and biochemical parameters. Materials and Methods: Chronic inflammation was assessed in 30 women with PCOS (Group A) and 30 healthy controls (Group B) with highly sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), and platelet microparticles (PMP). In group A, the relationship of chronic inflammation with insulin resistance, waist hip ratio (WHR) serum testosterone, and serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase (SGPT) were examined. Results: In group A, the hsCRP, TNFα, and PMP were significantly elevated compared to group B. However, IL-6 level was similar between the groups. In group A, PMP showed a significant positive correlation with waist-hip ratio and serum testosterone. IL-6 showed a significant positive correlation with insulin sensitivity and significant negative correlation with insulin resistance and serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase. Conclusion: PCOS is associated with chronic inflammation and PMP correlates positively with central adiposity and biochemical hyperandrogenism in women with PCOS.     Exploitation of mica deposits at Nellore mica belt, Andhra Pradesh, India

    India is the leading producer of sheet mica and a major part of this is exported. Nellore mica belt is the largest mica-producing area covering part of Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh, India. As most of the mines are old and privately operated, they are developed and operated purely based on local experiences. In this article, we highlight the problems associated with the present mica-mining practices in the Nellore mica belt, and scientific approaches that have been adopted for fixing different parameters associated with mica extraction. Based on detailed field study, geo-mechanical data and tested rock properties, extensive numerical modelling is done to suggest the best possible method of mining for safe and sustainable mica extraction from the area

Damped fragment yields in all the cases have been found to be the characteristic of emission from fully energy equilibrated composites. The binary fragment yields are compared with the standard statistical model predictions. Enhanced yields of entrance channel fragments (5 \leq Z \leq 7) indicate the survival of orbiting-like process in ^{20}Ne + ^{12}C system at these energies.Comment: 18 pages, 13 figure

    The abundance and size distribution of quark nuggets (QN), formed a few microseconds after the big bang due to first order QCD phase transition in the early universe, has been estimated. It appears that stable QNs could be a viable candidate for cosmological dark matter.
