    Can acoustic indices reflect the characteristics of public recreational behavioral in urban green spaces?

    Acoustic indicators serve as an effective means of assessing the quality of urban green space soundscape. The informative, easy accessibility and non-invasive nature of acoustic monitoring renders it an excellent tool for studying the interaction among the natural environment, wildlife, and human activities. Urban green space is essential in the urban ecosystem and constitutes the primary location for public outdoor recreation. However, the existing methods for monitoring public recreational behavior, such as on-site observation, drone observation, or questionnaire interviews, require significant labor or professional expertise. All of these methods have their limitations, so there is still much to be researched in the acoustic indices and recreational behavior. As a result, the potential for using acoustic characteristics to monitor public recreational behavior remains underexplored. To address this gap, this study investigates the potential of 5 widely used acoustic indices and acoustic intensity for monitoring public recreational behavior: Acoustic Complexity Index (ACI), Acoustic Diversity Index (ADI), Acoustic Richness (AR), Normalized Difference Soundscape Index (NDSI), and Power Spectral Density (PSD). Data were collected from 35 monitoring points in urban green spaces during the opening hours (6:00–22:00) to analyze the relationship between these indices and public recreational behavior. The findings indicate that (1) ACI, ADI, and AR daily exhibited multi-peak daily variation characteristics similar to those of public recreational behavior, displaying a “W” shape, while NDSI exhibits opposite variation characteristics; (2) the spatial variation characteristics of ACI, ADI, and AR change in response to the green space, and these changes align with public recreational behavior; (3) the correlation analysis and generalized linear mixed model construction further demonstrate that acoustic indices are effective in capturing the dynamic activities of visitor behavior; and (4) PSD undergoes significant temporal dynamic changes along the frequency gradient, with different frequency intervals reflecting the activity information of different recreational behaviors. In conclusion, this research highlights the effectiveness of using acoustic indices to analyze both the spatial and temporal variation characteristics of public recreational behavior in urban green spaces. The results can provide valuable data support for the enhancement and renovation of urban green spaces

    Intra-operative Measurement of Surgical Lengths of the Rectum and the Peritoneal Reflection in Korean

    The lengths of the surgical rectum and peritoneal reflection were important factors in treatment modality of rectal tumor. To evaluate the surgical length of rectum, we measured the length of the peritoneal reflections, sacral promontory and termination of the taenia coli from the anal verge by rigid sigmoidoscope in 23 male and 23 females during operation. The mean lengths of the sacral promontory were 16.5± 2.2 cm and 16.1±2.2 cm in the males and females, respectively. As for the peritoneal reflection, the results were anterior (8.8±2.2 cm, 8.1±1.7 cm), lateral (10.8±2.7 cm, 11.4±1.9 cm) and posterior (13.8±2.5 cm, 14.0±1.9 cm), respectively. There were no statistically significant differences between male and female. And only height had a correlation with the length of sacral promontory both in male and female (p=0.015 and p=0.018, respectively). For all the estimated lengths, the length of the sacral promontory had a correlation with the lengths of the anterior (p<0.001 and p=0.001) and posterior (p<0.001 and p<0.001) peritoneal reflections in males and females, respectively. We suggest that the intra-operative lengths of the rectum and peritoneal reflection will be useful information for treatment modality of rectal tumor clinically in Korean

    Preoperative computed tomography-based tumoral radiomic features prediction for overall survival in resectable non-small cell lung cancer

    ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was to evaluate whether preoperative radiomics features could meliorate risk stratification for the overall survival (OS) of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients.MethodsAfter rigorous screening, the 208 NSCLC patients without any pre-operative adjuvant therapy were eventually enrolled. We segmented the 3D volume of interest (VOI) based on malignant lesion of computed tomography (CT) imaging and extracted 1542 radiomics features. Interclass correlation coefficients (ICC) and LASSO Cox regression analysis were utilized to perform feature selection and radiomics model building. In the model evaluation phase, we carried out stratified analysis, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, concordance index (C-index), and decision curve analysis (DCA). In addition, integrating the clinicopathological trait and radiomics score, we developed a nomogram to predict the OS at 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years, respectively.ResultsSix radiomics features, including gradient_glcm_InverseVariance, logarithm_firstorder_Median, logarithm_firstorder_RobustMeanAbsoluteDeviation, square_gldm_LargeDependenceEmphasis, wavelet_HLL_firstorder_Kurtosis, and wavelet_LLL_firstorder_Maximum, were selected to construct the radiomics signature, whose areas under the curve (AUCs) for 3-year prediction reached 0.857 in the training set (n=146) and 0.871 in the testing set (n=62). The results of multivariate analysis revealed that the radiomics score, radiological sign, and N stage were independent prognostic factors in NSCLC. Moreover, compared with clinical factors and the separate radiomics model, the established nomogram exhibited a better performance in predicting 3-year OS.ConclusionsOur radiomics model may provide a promising non-invasive approach for preoperative risk stratification and personalized postoperative surveillance for resectable NSCLC patients

    Establishment and verification of a nomogram that predicts the risk for coronary slow flow

    BackgroundCoronary slow flow (CSF) has gained significance as a chronic coronary artery disease, but few studies have integrated both biological and anatomical factors for CSF assessment. This study aimed to develop and validate a simple-to-use nomogram for predicting CSF risk by combining biological and anatomical factors.MethodsIn this retrospective case-control study, 1042 patients (614 CSF cases and 428 controls) were randomly assigned to the development and validation cohorts at a 7:3 ratio. Potential predictive factors were identified using least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and subsequently utilized in multivariate logistic regression to construct the nomogram. Validation of the nomogram was assessed by discrimination and calibration.ResultsN-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, hemoglobin, left anterior descending artery diameter, left circumflex artery diameter, and right coronary artery diameter were independent predictors of CSF. The model displayed high discrimination in the development and validation cohorts (C-index 0.771, 95% CI: 0.737-0.805 and 0.805, 95% CI: 0.757-0.853, respectively). The calibration curves for both cohorts showed close alignment between predicted and actual risk estimates, demonstrating improved model calibration. Decision curve analysis suggested high clinical utility for the predictive nomogram.ConclusionThe constructed nomogram accurately and individually predicts the risk of CSF for patients with suspected CSF and may be considered for use in clinical care

    Material and ingenious synthesis strategy for short-wavelength infrared light-emitting device

    Infrared (IR) light-emitting materials have wide applications. However, variety and economical accesses to obtain IR materials and devices are still limited, because the IR-emitting materials are always suffering from two obstacles, namely, lower absorption and lower emission efficiency. In this work, using a modified high-temperature solid-state reaction an efficient short-wavelength IR luminescent material is successfully synthesized. On the basis of the excellent luminescent properties, a convenient IR light-emitting diode (LED) device is fabricated by combining the novel IR material with a commercial UV LED chip. Besides the anticipation that it may lead to a boost of the application of IR device in different fields, importantly, we also consider that the ingenious synthesis strategy may open a door for obtaining novel ions doped functional materials
