A geometric approach to integrability conditions for Riccati equations

Several instances of integrable Riccati equations are analyzed from the geometric perspective of the theory of Lie systems. This provides us a unifying viewpoint for previous approaches.Comment: 14 page

Integrability of Lie systems and some of its applications in physics

The geometric theory of Lie systems will be used to establish integrability conditions for several systems of differential equations, in particular Riccati equations and Ermakov systems. Many different integrability criteria in the literature will be analyzed from this new perspective and some applications in physics will be given.Comment: 16 page

An instrumental puzzle: the modular integration of AOLI

The Adaptive Optics Lucky Imager, AOLI, is an instrument developed to deliver the highest spatial resolution ever obtained in the visible, 20 mas, from ground-based telescopes. In AOLI a new philosophy of instrumental prototyping has been applied, based on the modularization of the subsystems. This modular concept offers maximum flexibility regarding the instrument, telescope or the addition of future developments.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures, Proc. The Flavonol-Anthocyanin Pathway in Blackberry and Arabidopsis: State of the Art

Flavonols and anthocyanins are plant secondary metabolites with an increasing interest due to their beneficial effects on human health. They are present in all plants, participating in plant protection against biotic and abiotic stresses. However, only some plant species accumulate them in relevant amounts, as is the case for berries. Among the health benefits reported is prevention of metabolic syndrome, s, including prevention of insulin resistance associated to type 2 diabetes. Therefore, there is a big interest to improve contents on plant foods to benefit health through the diet, as well as to obtain them for functional ingredients for food supplements. In fulfillment of this objective, a deep study about their biosynthetic pathway has been carried out in model plants, where the genome is available. However, not all species that accumulate them in high amounts have their genome sequenced, as is the case for blackberry. Transcriptomic approaches have been undertaken to gain knowledge of its specific biosynthetic pathway and regulatory elements, aiming to improve bioactive contents in the edible parts. Furthermore, determining the regulatory pathways will help to improve yields and in vitro production. For this purpose, a review on elicitors used to trigger this pathway is presented

________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis text introduces the Law, State, and Telecommunications Review, addressing, by way of an overview, its structure, contents and editorial policy. Besides that, this introduction defines the underpinnings of the journal’s regulatory approach. Statutes, administrative regulation and judicial decisions of 2010 pertaining to telecommunications are referred to in detail. It also addresses the main political and juridical discussions on the Brazilian telecommunications sector that took place in the previous year of this journal’s edition

Challenges in the COVID-19 vaccination era: Prioritization of vaccines among essential workers in Mexico

The coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic gave rise to a massive global health concern that has placed an unprecedented strain on healthcare systems, education and economy. The recent vaccine roll-out gave humanity a glimpse of hope. However, more than 50% of the vaccine supply has been acquired by high-income countries, forcing low- and middle-income countries to prioritize who should be vaccinated. In Mexico, the first phase of the vaccination program prioritized healthcare personnel working in front-line COVID-19 public institutions. The second phase was planned for the remaining healthcare workers attending at both COVID and non-COVID areas. The government, however, aiming to reopen schools, decided to vaccinate teachers instead. This raised several concerns, since Mexico tops the ranking of deaths among healthcare workers due to COVID-19 worldwide. Furthermore, the possible framing of vaccines as a political tool has caused commotion among the Mexican people and media, especially since 2021 is the Midterm Election year in Mexico, and the Teachers’ Union has historically played an essential role in this matter. Therefore, it is relevant to share the vaccination experience in resource-constrained settings to provide help and advice to reach an optimal strategy and deflate this pandemic
