Zusammenfassung : Die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit im Kanton Genf und der Volksbescheid zur Schaffung eines kantonalen Entwicklungshilfefonds. 1982 lehnte die Genfer Bevölkerung per Volksbescheid die sogenannte « Initiative 0,7 » ab, auf deren Basis — zusätzlich zur « privaten » Hilfe der Gemeinden — ein kantonaler Entwicklungshilfefonds geschaffen werden sollte. Im Anschluss an eine geschichtliche Einführung in die Genfer Entwicklungshilfepolitik beschreiben die Autoren die Vorbereitungen und den Verlauf dieses erstmaligen Referendums solcher Art. Abschliessend werden die vielschichtigen Auswirkungen der gescheiterten Initiative auf das öffentliche Bewusstsein in Genf und in der übrigen Schweiz sowie den Bund und die Entwicklungshilfeorganisationen aufgezeigt

Regional Femoral Nerve Block Combined with Local Anaesthesia in Day Surgery for Varicose Veins

AbstractThree anaesthetic techniques are commonly used in surgery of varicose veins: general anaesthesia, central nerve block and tumescent anaesthesia. In this report we evaluate the efficacy and safety of another method – regional femoral nerve block with additional local anaesthesia. We report the early postoperative outcome in a group of 56 patients managed using this type of anaesthesia. In all cases removal of all incompetent saphenous trunks and varices was accomplished without any operative complication. Two cases of wound infection occurred postoperatively and in three patients skin abrasions were caused by bandages. 62% of patients are asymptomatic 2 months after surgery. We have found this anaesthetic method to be safe, efficient, easy and quick to perform. It offers an alternative to tumescent or general anaesthesia for day surgery in patients with varicose veins

INFLAMMATORY SYSTEM OF THE BODY BY BIOFLAVONOID TREATMENT OF CHRONIC VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY IN ELDERLY PEOPLE

В статье рассматривается влияния терапии микронизированной очищенной флавоноидной фракцией (МОФФ) ДИОСМИН + ГЕСПЕРИДИН на противовоспалительную систему организма при хронической венозной недостаточности (ХВН) у людей пожилого возраста. Показано, что в пожилом возрасте по сравнению со средним возрастом достоверно (p<0,05) снижается активность противовоспалительной системы организма (если судить по уровню IL-4 в сыворотке крови). Однако, увеличение полиморбидности приводит к росту этого показателя как в пожилом, так и в среднем возрасте. Установлено, что фармакотерапия МОФФ ДИОСМИН + ГЕСПЕРИДИН в течении 30 суток приводит к активации противовоспалительной системы организма, что проявляется в достоверном увеличении концентрации IL-4 в сыворотке крови больных ХВН и ХВН + сахарный диабет 2 типа (p<0,05) по сравнению со значениями до начала терапии.The article discusses the impact of therapy by micronized purified flavonoid fraction (Mpff) Diosmin + Hesperidin on anti-inflammatory system of the body in chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) in the elderly. Showed that in the elderly compared with the average age was significantly (p<0,05) reduced anti-inflammatory activity of the organism (as measured by the level of IL-4 in the serum). However, increasing polymorbidity leads to an increase of this parameter in the elderly and in middle age. Established that pharmacotherapy Mpff Diosmin + Hesperidin for 30 days leads to the activation of anti-inflammatory system of the body, resulting in a significant increase of the concentration of IL-4 in the serum of patients with CVI and CVI + type 2 diabetes mellitus (p<0,05) compared to values before treatment
