New Recursion Relations and a Flat Space Limit for AdS/CFT Correlators

We consider correlation functions of the stress-tensor or a conserved current in AdS_{d+1}/CFT_d computed using the Hilbert or the Yang-Mills action in the bulk. We introduce new recursion relations to compute these correlators at tree level. These relations have an advantage over the BCFW-like relations described in arXiv:1102.4724 and arXiv:1011.0780 because they can be used in all dimensions including d=3. We also introduce a new method of extracting flat-space S-matrix elements from AdS/CFT correlators in momentum space. We show that the (d+1)-dimensional flat-space amplitude of gravitons or gluons can be obtained as the coefficient of a particular singularity of the d-dimensional correlator of the stress-tensor or a conserved current; this technique is valid even at loop-level in the bulk. Finally, we show that our recursion relations automatically generate correlators that are consistent with this observation: they have the expected singularity and the flat-space gluon or graviton amplitude appears as its coefficient.Comment: 22+6 pages (v2) typos fixe

The Impact of Corporate Governance on Firm’s Performance: Evidence from Ethiopian Insurance Companies

    Get PDF
The issue of corporate governance has long been ignored in developing economies like Ethiopia. To fill the gap, this study examines the impact of corporate governance mechanisms on the performance of Ethiopian insurance Companies using a panel data model for the period covering from 2009 to 2013.Both descriptive and regression analyses were conducted on the selected samples of 10 insurance companies out of 15 operating in the market. The findings from the study indicated that board meeting and board compensation had statistically significant positive impact on return on equity (ROE) of the Ethiopian insurance Industry. But the results failed to show any significant impact of board size, audit committee, and gender diversity on the proxy of companies’ performance. Moreover, the Size of the companies had a significant positive impact on ROE, but the Age of the firms did not reveal any significant impact on ROE. Hence, the study recommends that efforts to improve the corporate governance system of insurance companies in Ethiopia should focus on the number of meetings to be held by directors, the level of board compensation, as well as on the size of firms, and these in turn improve the performance of the insurance companies. Finally, the study also recommends the participation of all stakeholders in the industry at the time of developing the governance system of these companies. Magnetic phase diagram of the antiferromagnetic pyrochlore Gd2Ti2O7

Gd2Ti2O7 is a highly frustrated antiferromagnet on a pyrochlore lattice, where apart from the Heisenberg exchange the spins also interact via dipole-dipole forces. We report on low-temperature specific heat measurements performed on single crystals of Gd2Ti2O7 for three different directions of an applied magnetic field. The measurements reveal the strongly anisotropic behaviour of Gd2Ti2O7 in a magnetic field despite the apparent absence of a significant single-ion anisotropy for Gd3+. The H-T phase diagrams are constructed for H//111], H//[110] and H//[112]. The results indicate that further theoretical work beyond a simple mean-field model is required.Comment: 4 figure

Varying Vector Pulse Width Modulation for Three Phase Inverter

This paper mainly deals with designing a control scheme to eliminate the OFF STATE (T0 state) present in a Space Vector Pulse-Width Modulation; this has been achieved by redesigning the equations for calculating the reference vector of modulating signal (Vref). In widely used Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation Vmax of carrier signal is greater than Vref of modulating signal (except when Vref = Vmax). Thus during this state the drive goes into the OFF STATE (T0 state). T0 States are similar mirror image states; hence they have no good or bad effect on the system. But there is an amount of switching loss occurring when the switch executes the T0 state. The new equations for reference vector resulted in reducing the switching losses to half the actual value. Also it has various other advantages like. Increase in DC-Link utilization from 15.47 to 21.14 at 2 KHz carrier frequency and Reduction in THD of the system compared to widely used SVPWM

MUMAP: Modified Ultralightweight Mutual Authentication protocol for RFID enabled IoT networks

    Get PDF
Flawed authentication protocols led to the need for a secured protocol for radio frequency identification (RFID) techniques. In this paper, an authentication protocol named Modified ultralightweight mutual authentication protocol (MUMAP) has been proposed and cryptanalysed by Juel-Weis challenge. The proposed protocol aimed to reduce memory requirements in the authentication process for low-cost RFID tags with limited resources. Lightweight operations like XOR and Left Rotation, are used to circumvent the flaws made in the other protocols. The proposed protocol has three-phase of authentication. Security analysis of the proposed protocol proves its resistivity against attacks like desynchronization, disclosure, tracking, and replay attack. On the other hand, performance analysis indicates that it is an effective protocol to use in low-cost RFID tags. Juel-Weis challenge verifies the proposed protocol where it shows insusceptibility against modular operations

PERFORMANCE STUDY OF FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS ON NON EXPANSIVE SOILS

    Get PDF
As part of infrastructure development   huge investment is being made on expansion of National highways and important roads across the country.  For improvement of Highways two types of Pavements are commonly used in India viz., Flexible Pavements (Bituminous) and rigid pavements (Concrete). Flexible pavements are widely used in this country from the considerations of economy The performance of Flexible pavements depends largely on properties of original ground on which the pavement rests, the quality of materials used in the construction of various layers of pavement and quality assurance as per relevant specifications. In general any road after construction is basically evaluated by the performance in terms of unevenness index and structural stability over a period of time. The evaluation of these two important parameters will facilitate the clear understanding of performance of various materials used in the construction and to undertake suitable rehabilitation measures if necessary. Review on Utpatti of Shukra Dhatu as per Ayurveda

    Get PDF
Shukra Dhatu is present throughout the body, but according to Sushruta, it is most prominent at the Bladder opening. Moola-Sthana (origin) of Shukravaha Srotasa (system related with reproductive tissue) has Been attributed to Vrishana (testis), Shepha (penis), Stana (breast), and Majja (bone marrow). Shukradhara Kala is a vital structure that spans the entire body. Shukra Pramaana is Ardha Anjali (1/2 handful), whereas typical semen volume is 2 ml according to WHO standards. Dhairya (sexual potency), Chyavanam (timely ejaculation), Preeti (love for partner), Dehabalam (physical strength), Harshana (sexual desire), and Beejaratha (to fulfil the purpose of Beeja, i.e., procreation) are considered to be the functions of the Shukra. When Shukra, which is prevalent throughout the body, is triggered by Harsha, Darshana, Smarana, hearing the voice, Sparshana, or performing sexual activities, Shukra travels to the testis and ejaculates it. Spermatogenesis is a highly structured, complicated series of mitotic and meiotic differentiation Processes that result in genetically differentiated male gametes for fertilisation with the female ovum. It aids in the propagation of a species and adds to genetic diversity on a larger scale. Spermatogenesis is the process of turning spermatogonial germ cells into spermatids through cell proliferation and remodelling. Several Inherent and external variables influence the process. Spermatozoa are discharged into the Epididymis via the seminiferous tubules, where they undergo post-testicular maturation and storage. At the time of ejaculation, the ejaculate, or semen, is freshly generated. Ejaculation usually follows a predictable Pattern

Simulation in development of skilled and competent operators

    Get PDF
Modelling and Simulation helps industry to get information about how something will behave without actually testing it in real life in real industry scenario which will incur cost. One can compress the time frame, and study the behaviour of a scenario without engaging it. The use of this within engineering is well recognized. It became necessity or need in an industry. It plays various roles, from fulfilling the requirement in front end task up to furnishing the needed areas in back end task. In a petrochemical plant especially in Ethylene crackers, training operators to operate plant safely and consistent is a need. Highernumber in employees 'migration does play a role in a need of training simulator. When an operator with many years of experience left the company, he brings with himself a valuable portion of knowledge and data and training new personnel will incur money and time cost. The training of ethylene plant new operators now need to rely on senior operators experiences from different plant life cycle and will vary with different trainers. Need of simulation that can represent the real world scenario is a mandatory to give a valuable training experience and loss of billions dollars can be avoided
