    Unilateral Blurred Vision as the Sole Presenting Symptom of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia

    Purpose: To describe a case of infiltrative optic neuropathy caused by chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Case Report: A 41-year-old white male presented with painless, blurry vision in the left eye. Examination revealed unilateral optic nerve swelling confirmed by optical coherence tomography (OCT). Initial workup revealed mild leukocytosis, eventually diagnosed as chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). No other cause of optic neuropathy was identified despite extensive investigation. The patient developed rapidly progressive retinal ganglion cell nerve fiber layer (NFL) atrophy and relative afferent pupillary defect (RAPD) of the left eye despite steroid treatment but stabilized after four cycles of CLLtargeted chemotherapy. Although infiltrative optic neuropathy is well-known in leukemia, presentation with only subtle vision loss is rare. Vision loss usually presents late in leukemic infiltrative optic neuropathy and therefore must be considered in patients with optic disc swelling and leukocytosis. Conclusion: When treating CLL, progressive visual decline with coexistent optic neuropathy may warrant chemotherapy

    Spinodal Phase Separation in Liquid Films with Quenched Disorder

    We study spinodal phase separation in unstable thin liquid films on chemically disordered substrates via simulations of the thin-film equation. The disorder is characterized by immobile patches of varying size and Hamaker constant. The effect of disorder is pronounced in the early stages (amplification of fluctuations), remains during the intermediate stages and vanishes in the late stages (domain growth). These findings are in contrast to the well-known effects of quenched disorder in usual phase-separation processes, viz., the early stages remain undisturbed and domain growth is slowed down in the asymptotic regime.     Bit Error Rate Analysis of Physical Layer Network Coding Spatially Modulated Full-Duplex Nodes Based Bidirectional Wireless Relay Network

    In this paper, Physical Layer Network coding (PLNC)-Spatially Modulated Full-Duplex (SMFD) nodes based two-way/bidirectional cooperative wireless relay network is proposed. The PLNC-SMFD-based system is a viable technology in the field of next-generation wireless networks to enhance spectral efficiency. In the proposed system model, both the source nodes and relay nodes are employed with 2 × 2 antenna configurations where 2 bits of information are exchanged between the source nodes through a relay node. Transmit antenna selection at the source nodes is based on the incoming bitstreams. For instance, the transmit antenna is selected at PLNC-SMFD nodes based on the data symbols of the Most Significant Bit (MSB). Whereas the selected transmit antenna sends the Least Significant Bit (LSB) bit of data symbol at any time instance. Further, the self-interference at the transmitting and receiving nodes is modeled as Gaussian with the thermal noise power as a variance. The Bit Error Rate (BER) analytical expressions for both the upper and lower bound are derived in a Rayleigh Fading channel background.     Estimation of Population Mean Using Exponential Type Imputation Technique for Missing Observations

    Some imputation techniques are suggested for estimating the population mean when the data values are missing completely at random under a simple random sample without replacement scheme. Two classes of point estimators are proposed. The bias and mean squared error expressions of the proposed point estimators are derived up to first order of approximation. It has been shown that the proposed point estimators are more efficient than some existing point estimators due to Lee, Rancourt, and Sarndal (1994) and Singh and Horn (2000). Theoretical findings are supported by an empirical study based on five populations to show the superiority of the constructed estimators and methods of imputation over others
