    The diseases affecting the locomotor system are increasingly seen in present era. This condition considerably reduces the human activity in terms of social and professional life. As Acharya Charaka says that the person who do not follow code of conducts for healthy life, are more prone to develop disease. Low back pain is a common disorder it affects about 40% of people affected with a set of symptoms including pain caused by irritation or compression of one of the five lumbar spine nerves roots of each of the left or right or both sciatic nerves is termed as Sciatica, sciatic neuralgia. Mild to pricking pain, feeling of pulsation, and stiffness in lumber region radiates to back of thigh and popliteal region, calf muscle till feet are the Cardinal features of disease Gridhrasi. Based on Dosha predominance Gridhrasi is two types Vataja Gridhrasi and Vata-Kaphaja. Acharya Charaka mentioned Ruka (Pain), Toda (Pricking sensation), Stambha (Stiffness), and Muhuspandana (Twitching) in Sphik and radiating towards the Kati, Prushtha, Uru, Janu, Jangha and Pada respectively. These are the cardinal symptoms of Vataja Gridhrasi. In Vata-Kaphaja type of Gridhrasi in addition to the above symptoms, Tandra (Drowsiness), Gaurava (Heaviness) and Aruchi (Anorexia) are also present

    The principle of treatment is three-fold in Ayurveda as Nidana Parivarjana, Apakarshana (Shodhana) and Prakriti Vighata, this treatment given by Charaka in Krimi chapter. This treatment is given on the basis of Rogabala, Rugnabala, Kala, Vayu, Agni, etc. Among the Pancha Shodhana, Vamana, Virechana, Nasya and Raktamokshana are indicated in the Kushtha. Vamana is to be applied in the treatment of Kapha predominant Kushtha, Virechana and Raktamokshana in the treatment of Pitta predominant Kushtha. After Shodhana Shamana Chikitsa is indicated to subside the remaining Doshas. In present life style when people do not have enough time from their busy schedule for Shodhana therapy in such cases Shamana therapy is to be advised. Charaka has described Shamana therapy with Tikta and Kashaya Dravyas

    Today as man is climbing the step of success, he is moving away from health abnormal food habits, style of living, greed, anger have become a part of his life. The sedentary life style has given birth to number of diseases. Amavata is one of the challenging diseases for the physicians due to its chronicity, incurability, complications and morbidity. Amavata (Rheumatoid arthritis) the term desires from the words as “Ama ” and “Vata” the word Ama is the condition which in various ailments in system due to its toxic effect. The Ama when combines with Vatadosha and occupies in Shleshmasthana (Asthi Sandhi) results painful disease ‘Amavata’ The disease is characterized by various features like Sandhishoola in the nature of Toda, swelling inability of joints movements etc. In this research work 16 patients were registered, these patients were given Nirgundi Ghan Vati in the doses of 500gm two Vati three times a day for 30 days, along with Nirgundi Patra Pinda Sweda in 28 days. Results show that significant decrease in the symptoms of Amavata after treatment regimen

    Almost all our ancient Acharayas have mentioned about the Shiro-roga of which Shirah-shoola as the main symptom and also they have taken Shirah-shoola as the synonym of Shiro-roga. all the Acharyas have mentioned Ardhavabhedaka in Shiro-roga. Acharya Sushruta has mentioned 11 types of Shiro-roga in Uttar Tantra. Among them, one of them is Ardhavabhedaka in which paroxysmal unilateral headache associated with vertigo and pain of varying intensity is seen. This can be correlated with Migraine. In the present era, a boom in the Alternative and Complementary systems of medicine has led to deep introspection of their utility based on scientific validation. Hence it is the need of the hour to establish a firm clinical research based scientific data for classical treatments. Thalam is one such treatment modality implicated for the use in Shiroroga. An attempt has been made in the present clinical research to assess the effect of Baladi Thalam in the management of Migraine (Ardhavbhedaka). Total 30 patients were registered. Result of the study revealed that Baladi Thalam therapy is effective in reducing the sign and symptoms as well as physical assessment

    Nidranasha is one of common disorder which affects the quality of life. Acharya Charaka has mentioned Nidra as one among the Trayo upastambha. which is an essential factor to lead a healthy life. Further he mentions Sukha, Dukha, Pushti, Karshya, Bala, Dourbalya, Purushatva, Klaibyata, Jnaana, Ajnaana, Jeevitha and Mrityu all are depended on proper and improper Sleep. Nidranasha is one among the Vataja Nanatmaja Vyadhi. In Nidranasha Shiroabhyanga is the one of the effective treatment. Abhyanga means the application of Sneha, suitable to one’s constitution, age, season, particular disease and atmosphere. Shiro Abhyanga is a Bahirparimarjana Chikitsa and are also a part of Dinacharya, is told to be beneficial in inducing Nidra. For clinical study total 15 patients were registered from O.P.D. and I.P.D. of K.V.G. Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Ambatedka. Result of the study revealed that Shiro Abhyanga effective in reducing the sign & symptoms of Insomnia as well as physical assessment
