Achieving excellence through information literacy as part of innovative curriculum
A great responsibility facing education today is to develop students with information literacy while pursuing their education and extend it further in their workplace. In order for today's students to excel in the 21st century, they must be able to acquire, evaluate, and use and present information effectively. They must become information literate workers, teachers, facilitators and coachers. Information literacy skills allow the problem solving, critical and creative thinking, decision making, and cooperative learning that prepare students for the challenges in society. Information literacy leads to skilful, responsible thinking that facilitates good judgement because it relies on criteria, is self-correcting and is sensitive to context. It helps growth of individuals through a number of methods, programmes and techniques. It would be useful if the educational incorporate these elements since the elementary stage so that by the time their reach the college and university level, they have acquired the reading and information skills much required in the current information and knowledge era

Intensifying Experiential Learning with Dynamic Learning Styles in Traditional Classroom
Individual learning style diverges from one another, based on preferential perception on different types of information and degree of understanding the information. Learning contents require the focus to the efficiency of accomplishing learning goals, and all processes involved are considered essential. This paper seeks to explore students’ experiential learning in traditional classroom. It also aims at conceiving students’ learning experience through the transformative learning by adopting modern learning in traditional methods. The study was conducted at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), a local public university in Perak, Malaysia. Questionnaires were distributed, using stratified random sampling. Data was collected from 45 technical and vocational students who underwent a module, using traditional method with either engaging or using technological techniques in classroom. Results indicated that students’ preference in learning were the learning style with comprehension of learning elements and new pedagogical tools in classroom. The results would also assist educators in strategizing teaching and learning in schools or higher learning institutions with no technological facilities to deliver effective learning. The pace of worldwide education development has been highlighted specifically on the role of the educator in exploring students’ capability by uncovering their learning style strengths and opportunities even though in traditional way
Strengthening the academic usage of social media: An exploratory study
Technology strengthens learning and dominates over the conventional methods in too many aspects. Technologies are advancing learning procedure by their multiple formats, variety of resources, numerous delivery channels and not restricted to time space and place. Social media is a new form of communication that transformed the entire landscape of information access and dissemination online. This platform consists of a range of communication channels, considerably popular among students and assists them in various types of communication and collaborative learning. However, the platform of social media can also be considered as a source of distractions and divert student’s attention from learning and academic achievements. The principal objective of the current study is to understand the recent trends of social media use, the phenomenon of distractions and factors out convincing students for the academic use of social media. Interviews administered to enquire the phenomenon and analyzed with the help of ATLAS-Ti-7 and MS Excel. It is concluded from the results that individual psychological characteristics, social influences, information quality and system usefulness are the leading factors. Furthermore, the survey established the importance of this platform for academic purposes and perception concerning the phenomenon of distraction. In addition, future research directions and study limitations are discussed
