Genetic Analysis of ABO and Rh Blood Groups in Brahmin Population of Uttar Pradesh, India”
A series of glycoprotein and glycolipids on the red blood cell surface constitute blood group antigens. These are A, B, AB and O in ABO blood group system and Rh in rhesus blood group system. These antigens are genetically controlled. Certain diseases have been shown to be associated with certain blood groups. In the present study an attempt is made to study the distribution of ABO and Rh. (D) blood group systems among the Brahmin caste population of Uttar Pradesh State. A total of 200 unrelated Brahmin individuals from Uttar Pradesh were studied for the phenotype and allele frequency distribution of ABO and Rh (D) blood groups. The order of occurrence of ABO phenotypes is B>O>A>AB. The corresponding allele frequencies of O, A, and B alleles are found to be 0.5790, 0.1510 and 0.2697 respectively. The allele frequency of D (0.735) is more than d (0.265). The present study was compared with the other studies reported to understand the affinity between them

Electro-Reflectance Spectra of Blue Bronze
We show that the infrared reflectance of the quasi-one dimensional
charge-density-wave (CDW) conductor K0.3MoO3 (blue bronze) varies with position
when a voltage greater than the CDW depinning threshold is applied. The spatial
dependence and spectra associated with these changes are generally as expected
from the electro-transmission [B.M. Emerling, et al, Eur. Phys. J. B 16, 295
(2000)], but there are some differences which might be associated with changes
in the CDW properties on the surface. We have examined the electro-reflectance
spectrum associated with CDW current investigation for light polarized parallel
to the conducting chains for signs of expected current-induced intragap states,
and conclude that the density of any such states is at least an order of
magnitude lower than expected.Comment: 1)submitted to Eur. Phys. J B 2) revised (July 24) to a) better

A new spectrophotometric method for the determination of Baygon in environment and biological samples
A sensitive, selective, cheaper and extractive spectrophotometeric method has been developed for the detection and determination of Baygon in fruits, vegetables, and grains is based on the coupling of their hydrolysation products with diazotized aniline. The dyes formed are measured at 450nm for Baygon after extraction in chloroform. Beer’s law is obeyed over concentration ranges of 0.8-5.0µg. The Molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity were found to be 9.7×105 L mol-1 cm-1 and 0.5×10-4 µg cm-2 respectively. The standard deviation and relative standard deviation were observed as ± 0.00336 and 0.0145% respectively. Various important analytical parameters were evaluated. The method was applied successfully to the determination of Baygon in water, grain, fruits, plant material and biological sample
Sitagliptin induced acute severe nasopharyngitis
Acute nasopharyngitis is one of the distressing adverse effects seen with the use of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors like sitagliptin. Here, we report a case of acute severe nasophryngitis with the use of sitagliptin for diabetes mellitus
