The study determined the home quarantine challenges and psychological status of Bangladeshi University students in the COVID-19 pandemic break-out. The study also looked into the impact of home quarantine challenges on the psychological status of the student. A well-structured questionnaire was created and circulated to respondents through various social media platforms and utilized the snowball sampling technique. A total of 250 graduate and undergraduate students were taken as respondents of this study. Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) software was used to complete the data analysis procedure. The findings of the study show that the most noteworthy home quarantine challenges for Bangladeshi University students are the lack of awareness of home quarantine advantages (82%), insufficient financial support from their families (78%), and unsatisfactory medical support (77%). Also, home quarantine challenges are positively connected to psychological status (r=.364**) and it had a significant impact (β=.287, p<0.00) on psychological status in the pandemic period. The study also aided the policymakers in the better understanding of home quarantine challenges and the psychological status of Bangladeshi students. However, out of seven divisions in Bangladesh only students of Dhaka and Sylhet were selected to be the respondents. This caused difficulty in generalizing the findings of the study

First on-line mass measurements at SHIPTRAP and mass determinations of neutron-rich Fr and Ra isotopes at ISOLTRAP

SHIPTRAP is an ion trap facility behind the velocity filter SHIP at GSI/Darmstadt. Its aim are precision studies of transuranium nuclides produced in a fusion reaction and separated by SHIP. The current set-up for high-precision mass measurements consists of three main functional parts: (i) a gas cell for stopping the energetic ions from SHIP, (ii) radiofrequency quadrupole structures to cool and to bunch the ions extracted from the gas cell, and (iii) a superconducting magnet with two cylindrical Penning traps at a field strength of 7 T. In this work the Penning trap system has been installed and extensively characterized. The first on-line mass measurements of short-lived nuclides were carried out and the masses of 147Er and 148Er could be experimentally determined for the first time. Here a relative mass uncertainty of delta m/m of about 1 times 10(-6}) was achieved. Furthermore the masses of heavy neutron-rich (229-232)Ra and (230)Fr isotopes have been determined with a relative mass uncertainty of about 1 times 10(-7) with the ISOLTRAP mass spectometer at ISOLDE/CERN. The isotope 232Ra is the heaviest unstable nuclide ever investigated with a Penning trap. Underlying nuclear structure effects of these nuclides far from beta-stability were studied by a comparison of the resulting two-neutron separation energies S(2n) with those given by the theoretical Infinite Nuclear Mass model

Pre and Post Regional Development Scenario in India

    Get PDF
India has travelled through a remarkable journey after Independence. As a fledgling democracy, the planned economic development took 40 long years from 1950-51 for India's real per capita GDP to double by 1990-91. Macroeconomic crisis of 1991 is a turning point in the post-Independence economic geography and history of India. The government of India adopted two completely different approaches of regional development in pre and post reform period after Independence. As a result of economic reform and unlocking its growth potential, in only 15 years, India's per capita income doubled in 2006-07 and going to double again by 2017-18, in only 10 years time. But rising income inequalities, loss of traditional livelihoods, increasing environmental problems and emerging social tensions in post reform period urge us to overview the degree of inclusiveness achieved in balanced sustainable regional development goals and further do the needful course correction in the policies

Antecedents of Employee Thriving at Work: The Roles of Formalization, Ethical Leadership and Interpersonal Justice

    Get PDF
In this paper, we examine whether the presence of a mechanistic structure (i.e., formalization) hinders or facilitates employee thriving at work. In doing so, we examine formalization as an antecedent of employee thriving at work. Specifically, we examine why and when formalization, as an important contextual factor, may facilitate employee thriving at work. We hypothesize that the positive relation between formalization and employees’ thriving at work is mediated by their interpersonal justice perceptions. Further, we hypothesize that ethical leadership moderates the indirect relationship between formalization and employee thriving at work via interpersonal justice. As such, this relationship is stronger in the presence of relatively high (rather than relatively low) levels of ethical leadership. Results from a two‐wave field study provide support for our hypotheses. We also discuss the theoretical and practical implications, limitations, and future research directions for our findings

    Get PDF
In the academic world, academicians, researchers, and students have already employed Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT to complete their various academic and non-academic tasks, including essay writing, different formal and informal speech writing, summarising literature, and generating ideas. However,  yet, it is a controversial issue to use ChatGPT in academic research. Recently, its impact on academic research and publication has been scrutinized. The fundamental objective of this study is to highlight the application of ChatGPT in academic research by demonstrating a practical example with some recommendations. Data for this study was gathered using published articles, websites, blogs, and visual and numerical artefacts. We have analyzed, synthesized, and described our gathered data using an "introductory literature review." The findings revealed that for the initial idea generation for academic scientific research, ChatGPT could be an effective tool. However, in the case of literature synthesis, citations, problem statements, research gaps, and data analysis, the researchers might encounter some challenges. Therefore, in these cases, researchers must be cautious about using ChatGPT in academic research. Considering the potential applications and consequences of ChatGPT, it is a must for the academic and scientific community to establish the necessary guidelines for the appropriate use of LLMs, especially ChatGPT,  in research and publishing

    Get PDF
The primary purpose of this research is to highlight the effectiveness and challenges of Online Learning (OL) for Bangladesh during COVID-19. Besides, the researchers have proposed some suggestions based on the findings of this research to overcome from those challenges. Fifteen students using purposive sampling from Bangladesh's private, public, and national universities have taken as a study sample. Researchers generated headings which will be asked to the respondents in relation to the research questions through the secondary sources (published articles, journals, reports, conference proceedings, newspapers, and government records). After that, data triangulation has been validated by the semi-structured interview of 15 students. According to the findings, online learning is now somehow effective; but, it faces several challenges in Bangladesh's educational system. The students, guardians, university authorities such as University Grant Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Education will be benefited from these findings.  The study only looked at Bangladeshi students' viewpoints, which may or may not be similar to those of other countries. As a result, generalization of the findings is less possible; consequently, more students from other countries should be included in the future

Recent improvements in Natural Language Processing (NLP) have led to the creation of powerful language models like Chat Generative Pre-training Transformer (ChatGPT), Google’s BARD, Ernie which has shown to be very good at many different language tasks. But as language tasks get more complicated, having even more advanced NLP tool is essential nowadays. In this study, researchers look at how the latest versions of the GPT language model(GPT-4 & 5) can help with these advancements. The research method for this paper is based on a narrative analysis of the literature, which makes use of secondary data gathered from previously published studies including articles, websites, blogs, and visual and numerical facts etc. Findings of this study revealed that GPT-4 improves the model's training data, the speed with which it can be computed, the flawless answers that it provides with, and its overall performance. This study also shows that GPT-4 does much better than GPT-3.5 at translating languages, answering questions, and figuring out how people feel about things. The study provides a solid basis for building even more advanced NLP tools and programmes like GPT-5. The study will help the AI & LLM researchers, NLP developers and academicians in exploring more into this particular field of study. As this is the first kind of research comparing two NLP tools, therefore researchers suggested going for a quantitative research in the near future to validate the findings of this research

PUTTING CUSTOMER SERVICE AT RISK: WHY AND WHEN FAMILY OSTRACISM RELATES TO CUSTOMER-ORIENTED BEHAVIORS

    Get PDF
This study examines why and when family ostracism can have an adverse effect on employees’ customer service behaviors. Drawing on self-determination theory (SDT), we theorize the existence of moderated multi-mediation relationships between family ostracism and employees’ customer service behaviors (i.e., customer-oriented organizational citizenship behaviors and customer-oriented voice behaviors) through harmonious passion for work and customer orientation, with social skills playing a moderating role. We used a time-lagged design to collect data from service employees in China. Our results show that controlling for workplace ostracism at Time 1, the relationship between family ostracism and employees’ customer service behaviors is negative and serially mediated by both harmonious passion for work and customer orientation. Furthermore, employees who are less socially skilled are more prone to the adverse effects of family ostracism. Last, female employees are more vulnerable to the effects of family ostracism on their customer service
