    Non-commutative SU(N) gauge theories and asymptotic freedom

    In this paper we analyze the one-loop renormalization of the θ\theta-expanded SU(N)\rm SU(N) Yang-Mills theory. We show that the {\it freedom parameter} aa, key to renormalization, originates from higher order non-commutative gauge interaction, represented by a higher derivative term bhθμνF^μνF^ρσF^ρσ b h \theta^{\mu\nu}\hat F_{\mu\nu}\star\hat F_{\rho\sigma}\star\hat F^{\rho\sigma}. The renormalization condition fixes the allowed values of the parameter aa to one of the two solutions: a=1a=1 or a=3a=3, i.e. to b=0b=0 or to b=1/2b=1/2, respectively. When the higher order interaction is switched on, (a=3a=3), pure non-commutative SU(N) gauge theory at first order in θ\theta-expansion becomes one-loop renormalizable for various representations of the gauge group. We also show that, in the case a=3a=3 and the adjoint representation of the gauge fields, the non-commutative deformation parameter hh has to be renormalized and it is asymptotically free.Comment: 16 pages, no figure

    First Experience in Monitoring of Line Surge Arresters Installed on 110 kV Transmission Line Ston – Komolac in Croatia

    In paper are presented some first results and experience in real time monitoring of line surge arresters installed on 110 kV transmission line Ston – Komolac in southern part of Croatia. Mentioned line is the first line in Croatian transmission network equipped with line surge arresters (LSA). The line with its length of 43,95 km is situated in region with high soil resistance, exposed to one of the highest level of lightning activity in Croatia. At the same time it is the most important line in connecting HPP Dubrovnik (240 MVA) to the main part of 110 kV transmission network. Due to all mentioned reasons and great number of annual outages, it was decided to equip the line with LSA for improving the lightning performance and the availability of line. As result of performed numerical simulations on simulation line model it was decided to install 110 kV gapless, IEC Class II line arresters. Also, to improve analysis of expected results the 61 line arresters were equipped with Excount-II type of monitoring sensors. The main goal was to determine the behaviour of line arresters arrangement across the line during overvoltage events on towers. This installed “realtime” monitoring system enables remote control and wireless exchange the collected data from local data logger installed on LSA. Line arresters activity is monitoring through numbers, date and time and level of surges and the condition state of LSA, through the measuring of leakage current. First results in application of LSA are showing significant reduction of line outages with registered relatively strong activity of monitored line arresters. Also, as it was expected some particular part of line is espied to be exposed to higher frequency and higher level of registered arresters surge current. During collecting the data of LSA activity, some practical problems were encountered with time synchronization between monitoring devices and it is mentioned and discussed in paper, too. Although the analysed time period of eight months with LSA application is too short to allow strong final conclusions, obtained first experience will be very helpful in assessment of further LSA application in Croatian transmission network

    Magnetotunnelling in resonant tunnelling structures with spin-orbit interaction

    Magnetotunnelling spectroscopy of resonant tunnelling structures provides information on the nature of the two-dimensional electron gas in the well. We describe a model based on nonequilibrium Green's functions that allows for a comprehensive study of the density of states, tunnelling currents and current spin polarization. The investigated effects include the electron-phonon interaction, interface roughness scattering, Zeeman effect and the Rashba spin-orbit interaction. A qualitative agreement with experimental data is found regarding the satellite peaks. The spin polarization is predicted to be larger than ten percent for magnetic fields above 2 Tesla and having a structure even at the satellite peaks. The Rashba effect is confirmed to be observable as a beating pattern in the density of states but found to be too small to affect the tunnelling current.Comment: 31 pages, 11 figure

    One-loop corrections for Schwarzschild black hole via 2D dilaton gravity

    We study quantum corrections for the Schwarzshild black hole by considering it as a vacuum solution of a 2D dilaton gravity theory obtained by spherical reduction of 4D gravity coupled with matter. We find perturbatively the vacuum solution for the standard one-loop effective action in the case of null-dust matter and in the case of minimally coupled scalar field. The corresponding state is in both cases 2D Hartle-Hawking vacuum, and we evaluate the corresponding quantum corrections for the thermodynamical parameters of the black hole. We also find that the standard effective action does not allow boundary conditions corresponding to a 4D Hartle-Hawking vacuum state.Comment: 19 pages, Latex, some corrections are made in Sect.

    Lightning Performance Improvement Of 123 kV Line Ston – Komolac By Use Of Line Surge Arresters

    This paper presents HEP - Transmission System Operator Ltd. Line surge arrester (LSA) application pilot project on the Ston – Komolac 123 kV line. This 44 km long single circuit shielded transmission line operates in the region with a high lightning activity (keraunic level about 70 thunder days). In addition, it was very difficult to obtain good footing resistance. For these reasons, considered line used to have very bad lightning performance. It was decided to install Line surge arresters for line lightning performance improvement. In order to optimize arrester installation configuration sigma slp software simulations were performed. LSA are installed according to the results of the software simulations. LSA are installed in summer 2007 (110 gapless, IEC-class II Line arresters). Sixty one LSA are equipped with Excount - II monitoring sensors (monitoring arrester leakage current and peak of the impulse current). Based on the 8-month experience, LSA installation has improved line lightning performance. New line performance is close to the targeted once (improvement by 50 to 60 %). Surge arrester monitors collect very interesting information. Collected info will be compared with the software simulations

    Varimax and oblimin trasformations of significant principal components of complete intercorelation matrixes and significant principal axes of image matrixes of covariances were compared. Varimax poorl approximates simple structure, tending to produce general and poorly defined group factors and sometimes integrating those factors which in oblimin position are highly intercorrelated. Oblimin ususally gives very simple structure with well defined factors, especially if significant principal axes of image matrixes of covariances are transformed. The same analyses using the same tests on 9 subsamples (of which some overlapping from the same population were very similar. Not only that varimax invariance was not higher than direction oblimin invariance, but it was, as a rule, significantly lower. Therefore, ti seems that oblimin transformation of significant iage axes is very suitable method for explorative factor analyses of psychological measurement instruments

    Quantum corrections for (anti)-evaporating black hole

    In this paper we analyse the quantum correction for Schwarzschild black hole in the Unruh state in the framework of spherically symmetric gravity (SSG) model. SSG is a two-dimensional dilaton model which is obtained by spherically symmetric reduction from the four-dimensional theory. We find the one-loop geometry of the (anti)-evaporating black hole and corrections for mass, entropy and apparent horizon.Comment: 16 pages, Latex, no figure
