Invariants of genus 2 mutants
Pairs of genus 2 mutant knots can have different Homfly polynomials, for
example some 3-string satellites of Conway mutant pairs. We give examples which
have different Kauffman 3-variable polynomials, answering a question raised by
Dunfield et al in their study of genus 2 mutants. While pairs of genus 2 mutant
knots have the same Jones polynomial, given from the Homfly polynomial by
setting v=s^2, we give examples whose Homfly polynomials differ when v=s^3. We
also give examples which differ in a Vassiliev invariant of degree 7, in
contrast to satellites of Conway mutant knots.Comment: 16 pages, 20 figure
Topologically Massive Gauge Theory: A Lorentzian Solution
We obtain a lorentzian solution for the topologically massive non-abelian
gauge theory on AdS space by means of a SU(1, 1) gauge transformation of the
previously found abelian solution. There exists a natural scale of length which
is determined by the inverse topological mass. The topological mass is
proportional to the square of the gauge coupling constant. In the topologically
massive electrodynamics the field strength locally determines the gauge
potential up to a closed 1-form via the (anti-)self-duality equation. We
introduce a transformation of the gauge potential using the dual field strength
which can be identified with an abelian gauge transformation. Then we present
the map from the AdS space to the pseudo-sphere including the topological mass.
This is the lorentzian analog of the Hopf map. This map yields a global
decomposition of the AdS space as a trivial circle bundle over the upper
portion of the pseudo-sphere which is the Hyperboloid model for the Lobachevski
geometry. This leads to a reduction of the abelian field equation onto the
pseudo-sphere using a global section of the solution on the AdS space. Then we
discuss the integration of the field equation using the Archimedes map from the
pseudo-sphere to the cylinder over the ideal Poincare circle. We also present a
brief discussion of the holonomy of the gauge potential and the dual-field

Streetplan: Hacking Streetmix for community-based outreach on the future of streets
Riggs, Boswell and Ross describe their pilot street design project deploying Streetplan, a version of the opensource tool Streetmix. As part of the City of San Luis Obispo downtown revisioning project, their efforts inform the process, currently underway, of revising the Downtown Vision Concept Plan. The ultraluminous X-ray source NGC 1313 X-2 - Its optical counterpart and environment
NGC 1313 X-2 is one of the brightest ultraluminous X-ray sources in the sky,
at both X-ray and optical wavelengths; therefore, quite a few studies of
available ESO VLT and HST data have appeared in the literature. Here, we
present our analysis of VLT/FORS1 and HST/ACS photometric data, confirming the
identification of the B ~ 23 mag blue optical counterpart. We show that the
system is part of a poor cluster with an age of 20 Myr, leading to an upper
mass limit of some 12 M_sun for the mass donor. We attribute the different
results with respect to earlier studies to the use of isochrones in the F435W
and F555W HST/ACS photometric system that appear to be incompatible with the
corresponding Johnson B and V isochrones. The counterpart exhibits significant
photometric variability of about 0.2 mag amplitude, both between the two HST
observations and during the one month of monitoring with the VLT. This includes
variability within one night and suggests that the light is dominated by the

Potential formulation of the dispersion relation for a uniform, magnetized plasma with stationary ions in terms of a vector phasor
The derivation of the helicon dispersion relation for a uniform plasma with
stationary ions subject to a constant background magnetic field is reexamined
in terms of the potential formulation of electrodynamics. Under the same
conditions considered by the standard derivation, the nonlinear self-coupling
between the perturbed electron flow and the potential it generates is
addressed. The plane wave solution for general propagation vector is determined
for all frequencies and expressed in terms of a vector phasor. The behavior of
the solution as described in vacuum units depends upon the ratio of
conductivity to the magnitude of the background field. Only at low conductivity
and below the cyclotron frequency can significant propagation occur as

Predicting pharmacy naloxone stocking and dispensing following a statewide standing order, Indiana 2016
BACKGROUND:
While naloxone, the overdose reversal medication, has been available for decades, factors associated with its availability through pharmacies remain unclear. Studies suggest that policy and pharmacist beliefs may impact availability. Indiana passed a standing order law for naloxone in 2015 to increase access to naloxone.
OBJECTIVE:
To identify factors associated with community pharmacy naloxone stocking and dispensing following the enactment of a statewide naloxone standing order.
METHODS:
A 2016 cross-sectional census of Indiana community pharmacists was conducted following a naloxone standing order. Community, pharmacy, and pharmacist characteristics, and pharmacist attitudes about naloxone dispensing, access, and perceptions of the standing order were measured. Modified Poisson and binary logistic regression models attempted to predict naloxone stocking and dispensing, respectively.
RESULTS:
Over half (58.1%) of pharmacies stocked naloxone, yet 23.6% of pharmacists dispensed it. Most (72.5%) pharmacists believed the standing order would increase naloxone stocking, and 66.5% believed it would increase dispensing. Chain pharmacies were 3.2 times as likely to stock naloxone. Naloxone stocking was 1.6 times as likely in pharmacies with more than one full-time pharmacist. Pharmacies where pharmacists received naloxone continuing education in the past two years were 1.3 times as likely to stock naloxone. The attempted dispensing model yielded no improvement over the constant-only model.
CONCLUSIONS:
Pharmacies with larger capacity took advantage of the naloxone standing order. Predictors of pharmacist naloxone dispensing should continue to be explored to maximize naloxone access
Partition function of two- and three-dimensional Potts ferromagnets for arbitrary values of q>0
A new algorithm is presented, which allows to calculate numerically the
partition function Z_q of the d-dimensional q-state Potts models for arbitrary
real values q>0 at any given temperature T with high precision. The basic idea
is to measure the distribution of the number of connected components in the
corresponding Fortuin-Kasteleyn representation and to compare with the
distribution of the case q=1 (graph percolation), where the exact result Z_1=1
is known.
As application, d=2 and d=3-dimensional ferromagnetic Potts models are
studied, and the critical values q_c, where the transition changes from second
to first order, are determined. Large systems of sizes N=1000^2 respectively
N=100^3 are treated. The critical value q_c(d=2)=4 is confirmed and

The general-covariant and gauge-invariant theory of quantum particles in classical backgrounds
A new approach to the concept of particles and their production in quantum
field theory is developed. A local operator describing the current of particle
density is constructed for scalar and spinor fields in arbitrary gravitational
and electromagnetic backgrounds. This enables one to describe particles in a
local, general-covariant and gauge-invariant way. However, the current depends
on the choice of a 2-point function. There is a choice that leads to the local
non-conservation of the current in a gravitational or an electromagnetic
background, which describes local particle production consistent with the usual
global description based on the Bogoliubov transformation. The most natural
choice based on the Green function calculated using the Schwinger-DeWitt method
leads to the local conservation of the current, provided that interactions with
quantum fields are absent. Interactions with quantum fields lead to the local
non-conservation of the current which describes local particle production

The nature of supernovae 2010O and 2010P in Arp 299 - II. Radio emission
We report radio observations of two stripped-envelope supernovae (SNe), 2010O
and 2010P, which exploded within a few days of each other in the luminous
infrared galaxy Arp 299. Whilst SN 2010O remains undetected at radio
frequencies, SN 2010P was detected (with an astrometric accuracy better than 1
milli arcsec in position) in its optically thin phase in epochs ranging from ~1
to ~3yr after its explosion date, indicating a very slow radio evolution and a
strong interaction of the SN ejecta with the circumstellar medium. Our
late-time radio observations toward SN 2010P probe the dense circumstellar
envelope of this SN, and imply a mass-loss rate (Msun/yr) to wind velocity (in
units of 10 km/s) ratio of (3.0-5.1)E-05, with a 5 GHz peak luminosity of
~1.2E+27 erg/s/Hz on day ~464 after explosion. This is consistent with a Type
IIb classification for SN 2010P, making it the most distant and most slowly
