Generalization of Dirac Non-Linear Electrodynamics, and Spinning Charged Particles

In this note we generalized the Dirac non-linear electrodynamics, by introducing two potentials (namely, the vector potential A and the pseudo-vector potential gamma^5 B of the electromagnetic theory with charges and magnetic monopoles) and by imposing the pseudoscalar part of the product omega.omega* to be zero, with omega = A + gamma^5 B. We show that the field equations of such a theory possess a soliton-like solution which can represent a priori a "charged particle", since it is endowed with a Coulomb field plus the field of a magnetic dipole. The rest energy of the soliton is finite, and the angular momentum stored in its electromagnetic field can be identified --for suitable choices of the parameters-- with the spin of the charged particle. Thus this approach seems to yield a classical model for the charged (spinning) particle, which does not meet the problems met by earlier attempts in the same direction.Comment: standard LaTeX file; 16 pages; it is a corrected version of a paper appeared in Found. Irrigação e adubação nitrogenada em gramíneas forrageiras.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes níveis de irrigação e de adubação nitrogenada sobre a produtividade média de matéria seca (MS) e o teor de proteína bruta (PB) de três gramíneas forrageiras. O trabalho foi conduzido na área experimental da Embrapa Meio-Norte em Parnaíba-PI, em Neossolo Quartzarênico Órtico Típico. As gramíneas utilizadas foram Pennisetum purpureum, cv. Pioneiro; Panicum maximum, cv. Tanzânia e Cynodon spp., cv. Tifton-85. Os níveis de irrigação aplicados foram calculados em função do fracionamento da evaporação do tanque Classe A (ECA) entre duas irrigações consecutivas: 0,2; 0,6 e 1,0. Os tratamentos de adubação foram 100, 200 e 300 kg/ha de N aplicados na forma de uréia e em cobertura. Para efeito de análise foram processados cinco cortes das gramíneas no período de avaliação. A produtividade de matéria seca (MS) da cultivar Tanzânia (24.984 kg/ha) é significativamente superior às MS das cultivares Tifton-85 (18.231 kg/ha) e Pioneiro (16.239 kg/ha). A combinação do nível de água correspondente a 0,2 ECA com o nível de adubação de 200 kg/ha de N apresenta os melhores resultados. O efeito de N sobre PB é linear e significativo (P<0,05) e o teor médio de PB da cultivar Pioneiro (15,58 %) é superior aos das cultivares Tanzânia (12,82 %) e Tifton-85 (12,85).bitstream/item/126432/1/boletim-42-Irrigacao-e-adubacao-nitrogenada-em-gramineas-forrageiras.pd

Molecular Evaluation of exons 8 and 22 of the SHANK3 gene in Autism Spectrum Disorders

Autism spectrum disorders are a group of neurodevelopmental disorders with a complex and heterogeneous etiology. Studies have shown that genetic factors play an important role in the aetiology of these diseases. Recently, de novo mutations, frameshifts and deletions have been described in the SHANK3 gene, also known as ProSAP2 gene, which encodes a synaptic scaffolding protein. All the participants of this study had normal karyotypes and underwent screening for Fragile-X syndrome. Subsequently, they were analyzed by direct sequencing of different points of exons 8 and 22 of the SHANK3 gene. None of the study participants presented with changes in these regions. These findings may be due to the fact that mutations, deletions and duplications of the SHANK3 gene are rare

On Matrix Superpotential and Three-Component Normal Modes

We consider the supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSY QM) with three- component normal modes for the Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield (BPS) states. An explicit form of the SUSY QM matrix superpotential is presented and the corresponding three-component bosonic zero-mode eigenfunction is investigated.Comment: 17 pages, no figure. Dotted and Undotted Algebraic Spinor Fields in General Relativity

We investigate using Clifford algebra methods the theory of algebraic dotted and undotted spinor fields over a Lorentzian spacetime and their realizations as matrix spinor fields, which are the usual dotted and undotted two component spinor fields. We found that some ad hoc rules postulated for the covariant derivatives of Pauli sigma matrices and also for the Dirac gamma matrices in General Relativity cover important physical meaning, which is not apparent in the usual matrix presentation of the theory of two components dotted and undotted spinor fields. We also discuss some issues related to the the previous one and which appear in a proposed "unified" theory of gravitation and electromagnetism which use two components dotted and undotted spinor fields and also paravector fields, which are particular sections of the even subundle of the Clifford bundle of spacetime.Comment: some new misprints have been correcte
