Improved mapping functions for atmospheric refraction correction in SLR
[1] We present two new mapping functions (MFs) to model the elevation angle dependence of the atmospheric delay for satellite laser ranging (SLR) data analysis. The new MFs were derived from ray tracing through a set of data from 180 radiosonde stations globally distributed, for the year 1999, and are valid for elevation angles above 3degrees. When compared against ray tracing of two independent years of radiosonde data (1997-1998) for the same set of stations, our MFs reveal submillimetre accuracy for elevation angles above 10degrees, representing a significant improvement over other MFs, and is confirmed in improved solutions of LAGEOS and LAGEOS 2 data analysis.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Time domain analysis of a wideband common-mode suppression filter for bent interconnects
A technique to efficiently reduce differential-to-common mode conversion occuring at a bend discontinuity in coupled microstrip lines is investigated. Total signal integrity in the interconnect structure has been improved by minimizing the differential reflection coefficient and insertion loss simultaneously. This is achieved by changing the geometry of the microstrip lines via a tapering section to tightly or very tightly coupled ones in the area of the bend. The new design was manufactured, measured, and validated by means of time-domain analysis, providing very satisfactory results

On the kinematics of the Local cosmic void
We collected the existing data on the distances and radial velocities of
galaxies around the Local Void in the Aquila/Hercules to examine the peculiar
velocity field induced by its underdensity. A sample of 1056 galaxies with
distances measured from the Tip of the Red Giant Branch, the Cepheid
luminosity, the SNIa luminosity, the surface brightness fluctuation method, and
the Tully-Fisher relation has been used for this purpose. The amplitude of
outflow is found to be ~300 km/s. The galaxies located within the void produce
the mean intra-void number density about 1/5 of the mean external number
density of galaxies. The void's population has a lower luminosity and a later
morphological type with the medians: M_B = -15.7^m and T = 8 (Sdm),
respectively.Comment: Version 1. 14 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables. Accepted to Astrophysics,
