Dy on Rehabilitation Approach of Critical Farm by Exploiting of Mamar. Mamar is one of the permanent agricultural practises developed around a water source, using long-aged plants (hard plants), such as, coconuts, battle, mango, bananas, oranges and others as well as brushes or grasses for animal feeds. Practise of mamar in Kupang Regency is still communal so that development model of this can give positive impacts on safety of human activities and fire. The research was executed at mamar in Oebola, Camplong, Tuatuka, Pukdale, Oenesu, and Manulai villages, Kupang Regency, for 8 months, using survey and interview methods. Survey was conducted to find out characteristic ecosystem of mamar (soil, vegetation, climate, exploiting, and water). The result indicated that vegetations found at mamar covered Tectona grandis, Artocapus integra, Ficus benjamina, Tamarindus indica, Bamboo sp, Leucaena leucochepala, Mangifera indica, Cocos nucifera), Arecha catechu , Mozes parasidica, Zea mays, Dioschorea sp, and Arachis sp. Exploiting of soil, water, and vegetations at mamar was very abundant to various activities, such as, food and horticultural agriculture, and fishery that potentially, could degrade soil productivity, water infiltration, plasma nutfah reserve, and degrade income value and ecology improvement. Volume of water at mamar was 0.23±0.09 L/sec. These results showed that mamar can increase community income (that increase ± Rp 262,985), social and culture (it is due to the use of battle and battle nut in traditional life); rehabilitate critical/poor soil, and conserve soil and water

The Effect of Dipping Treatment on Faloak (Sterculiacomosa Wallich) Silviculture Properties. Faloak is a species belongsto dry land that tends to decrease in population and may be endangered because of no silvicultural treatments. This study aims to determine the percentage and growth rate of Faloak at seedling level. A direct test through experimental techniques in nursery plots using complete randomized design (CRD) was used. The results of the study show that the percentage of the growth and the growth rate of Faloak seedlings are different depending on the types of treatments and duration of immersion. It is evident that 3 x 12 hours soaking treatment gives different effects compared to the control (without soaking treatment). The percentation of the growth and growth rate of the faloak increase with the increase of soaking times

Back Reflector with Diffractive Gratings for Light-Trapping in Thin-Film III-V Solar Cells

    Get PDF
We report on the development of light-Trapping architectures applied to thin-film solar cells. In particular, we focus on enhancing the absorption at 1-eV spectral range for dilute nitride and quantum dot materials and report on the influence of planar back reflectors on the photovoltaic properties. Moreover, we discuss the properties of polymer diffraction gratings with enhanced light-Trapping capability pointing to advantageous properties of pyramidal gratings. In order to understand the suitability of these polymer grating architectures for space applications, we have performed an electron irradiation study (1 MeV) revealing the absence of reflectance changes up to doses of 1Ă—1015 e-/cm

Quantum dot solar cells are promising for next-generation photovoltaics owing to their potential for improved device efficiency related to bandgap tailoring and quantum confinement of charge carriers. Yet implementing effective photon management to increase the absorptivity of the quantum dots is instrumental. To this end, the performance of thin-film InAs/GaAs quantum dot solar cells with planar and structured back reflectors is reported. The experimental thin-film solar cells with planar reflectors exhibited a bandgap-voltage offset of 0.3 V with an open circuit voltage of 0.884 V, which is one of the highest values reported for quantum dot solar cells grown by molecular beam epitaxy to our knowledge. Using measured external quantum efficiency and current-voltage characteristics, we parametrize a simulation model that was used to design an advanced reflector with diffractive pyramidal gratings revealing a 12-fold increase of the photocurrent generation in the quantum dot layers

Wavelet denoising and segmentation for non-stationary signals: a reinterpretation of an iterative algorithm and application to phonoenterography

This communication deals with wavelet-based denoising techniques of non-stationary signals, in order to extract informative events. The practical application concerns physiological bowel sounds processing, with a view to medical diagnosis and monitoring. This work continues and develops a recent publication placed in the same framework [14]. The method for separating the stationary part from the non-stationary part of a signal presented by Hadjileontiadis et al. [15, 14] stems from a denoising algorithm introduced by Coifman and Wickerhauser [6, 7]. This method involves two user-tuned parameters. We propose a novel version of this algorithm, based on a fixed-point interpretation. This modification allows to eliminate one of the parameters and to determine an inferior limit for the second, depending on the probability distribution of the wavelet coefficients. This revisited version also improves significantly the computational efficiency. We present the results and compare them with other denoising algorithms, both on simulated signals and on real bowel sounds.

Predators reduce extinction risk in noisy metapopulations

    Get PDF
Background Spatial structure across fragmented landscapes can enhance regional population persistence by promoting local “rescue effects.” In small, vulnerable populations, where chance or random events between individuals may have disproportionately large effects on species interactions, such local processes are particularly important. However, existing theory often only describes the dynamics of metapopulations at regional scales, neglecting the role of multispecies population dynamics within habitat patches. Findings By coupling analysis across spatial scales we quantified the interaction between local scale population regulation, regional dispersal and noise processes in the dynamics of experimental host-parasitoid metapopulations. We find that increasing community complexity increases negative correlation between local population dynamics. A potential mechanism underpinning this finding was explored using a simple population dynamic model. Conclusions Our results suggest a paradox: parasitism, whilst clearly damaging to hosts at the individual level, reduces extinction risk at the population level

Review-aggregated aspect-based sentiment analysis with ontology features

With all the information that is available on the World Wide Web, there is great demand for data mining techniques and sentiment analysis is a particularly popular domain, both in business and research. Sentiment analysis aims to determine the sentiment value, often on a positive–negative scale, for a given product or service based on a set of textual reviews. As fine-grained information is more useful than just a single overall score, modern aspect-based sentiment analysis techniques break down the sentiment and assign sentiment scores to various aspects of the product or service mentioned in the review. In this work, we focus on aspect-based sentim
