O texto examina os modos pelos quais foram ordenados os acontecimentos e problemáticas para a invenção da escrita da História do Ceará. Destaca-se uma comparação entre as obras Iracema (1865) e História da Província do Ceará (1867). Entende-se, então, que a delimitação de temas passa necessariamente por determinados valores que orientam as relações que o presente estabelece com o passado e o futuro

Entre a poeira e o silêncio: sobre exposições e construções da memória no Museu do Ceará (1932-1997)

This article discusses some manners to construct the meanings of the past into Museu do Ceará's exhibitions between 1932 and 1997. Based on issues of Social History of Memory, the meanings of dust and silence are highlighted in a way that the past is configured in the space of the exhibitions. The artifacts are treated taking into account underlying values and expectations that guide, in certain circumstances, connections and separations between past and present.O artigo aborda algumas maneiras de construir os sentidos do passado nas exposições do Museu do Ceará entre os anos 1932 e 1997. Com base em problemáticas da história social da memória, são destacados os sentidos da poeira e do silêncio no modo pelo qual o pretérito é configurado no espaço das exposições. Desse modo, os artefatos são tratados a partir de valores e expectativas que orientam, em determinada circunstância, as conexões e as separações entre passado e presente

A lição da pedra: usos do passado e cultura material

By proposing certain divisions between past and present, modern history writing also articulates various connections between what is real and what is not real. A viable historiographical approach is exactly the study of the way these connections are structured and legitimized. Therefore, this article investigates the uses of the past in historical culture as experienced by Gustavo Barroso. Based on theoretical and methodological insights by Manoel Luiz Salgado Guimarães, it relates Barroso’s writing to the production of other intellectuals. The paper aims at illustrating the significant role material culture has in the shaping of certain ways of giving meaning to the past, more specifically through the transformation of marks and traces into vestiges of the passage of time.Ao propor certas divisões entre o passado e o presente, a escrita da história na modernidade também articula várias maneiras de fazer conexões entre o real e o que não é real. Uma possível abordagem historiográfica é exatamente o estudo sobre a forma como essas conexões são constituídas e legitimadas. Portanto, este artigo é uma abordagem historiográfica sobre os usos do passado na cultura histórica vivida por Gustavo Barroso, a partir das proposições teóricas e metodológicas de Manoel Luiz Salgado Guimarães. Relacionando a escrita de Barroso com a produção de outros intelectuais, percebe-se o importante papel da cultura material para a construção de certas formas de dar sentido ao passado, através das transformações de marcas e traços em vestígios da passagem do tempo

A insustentável leveza do tempo: os objetos da sociedade de consumo em aulas de história The unbearable lightness of time: consumer society objects in the history class

O artigo desenvolve propostas para o uso dos objetos em aulas de história. Argumenta-se que a reflexão sobre as múltiplas relações entre sujeitos e objetos pode ser uma via de acesso para a construção da consciência crítica sobre o tempo, ou melhor, sobre as formas pelas quais acontecem ligações e separações entre passado, presente e futuro. O intuito é afirmar a necessidade de colocar, a partir do cotidiano vivido e de reflexões sobre a sociedade de consumo, a memória dos objetos no ensino de história.This article propose the use of consumer objects in history classes. It argues that the reflection on the multiple relations between citizens and consumer objects may lead to the development of the awareness of time, or better yet, of the connections or disconnections between past, present, and future. The intention is to state the need of a place for the memory of daily life objects and of the reflection on the consumer society in history education
