The Hydrodynamical Limit of Quantum Hall system

We study the current algebra of FQHE systems in the hydrodynamical limit of small amplitude, long-wavelength fluctuations. We show that the algebra simplifies considerably in this limit. The hamiltonian is expressed in a current-current form and the operators creating inter-Landau level and lowest Landau level collective excitations are identified.Comment: Revtex, 16 page

On the Topological Origin of Entanglement in Ising Spin Glasses

    Get PDF
The origin of thermal and quantum entanglement in a class of three-dimensional spin models, at low momenta, is traced to purely topological reasons. The establishment of the result is facilitated by the gauge principle which, when used in conjunction with the duality mapping of the spin models, enables us to recast them as lattice Chern-Simons gauge theories. The thermal and quantum entanglement measures are expressed in terms of the expectation values of Wilson lines, loops, and their generalisations. For continuous spins, these are known to yield the topological invariants of knots and links. For Ising-like models, they are expressible in terms of the topological invariants of three-manifolds obtained from finite group cohomology -- the so-called Dijkgraaf-Witten invariants.Comment: RevTex4, 6 page

A Pattern Based Model Driven Approach to Model Transformations

    Get PDF
The OMG's Model Driven Architecture (MDA) initiative has been the focus of much attention in both academia and industry, due to its promise of more rapid and consistent software development through the increased use of models. In order for MDA to reach its full potential, the ability to manipulate and transform models { most obviously from the Platform Independent Model (PIM) to the Platform Speci_c Models (PSM) { is vital. Recognizing this need, the OMG issued a Request For Proposals (RFP) largely concerned with ending a suitable mechanism for transforming models. This paper outlines the relevant background material, summarizes the approach taken by the QVT-Partners (to whom the authors belong), presents a non-trivial example using the QVT-Partners approach, and finally sketches out what the future holds for model transformations

Role of Girikarnyadi Gutikaanjana in the Management of Krimi Granthi - A Review

Blepharitis is one of the inflammatory conditions of eyelid caused due to bacterial infection or colonization of the eyelid. It is notorious in nature and also very common, but very annoying to the patients and ophthalmologists too, because of its recurrent nature and lifelong treatment. So it is necessary to find an effective treatment modality. The symptoms of Blepharitis closely resembles to Krimigranthi described in Ayurveda, hence its treatment can be adopted. Girikarnyadi Gutika a Herbomineral formulation mentioned in Netra Prakashika consists of Shweta Girikarnika, Shodita Shweta Gunja, Shweta Punarnava, Haridra, Daruharidra, Shodita Tuttha and Gandhaka used as Anjana (application of medicated collyrium to the eye). These drugs are having the properties such as Krimighna (Antihelmintic), Vranaropana (Wound healing), Twakrogahara (cures diseases of skin) and Chakshushya (ocular protective) may be helpful in the management of Blepharitis

Chloroplast protein translocation pathways and ubiquitin-dependent regulation at a glance

    Get PDF
Chloroplasts conduct photosynthesis and numerous metabolic and signalling processes that enable plant growth and development. Most of the ∼3000 proteins in chloroplasts are nucleus encoded and must be imported from the cytosol. Thus, the protein import machinery of the organelle (the TOC-TIC apparatus) is of fundamental importance for chloroplast biogenesis and operation. Cytosolic factors target chloroplast precursor proteins to the TOC-TIC apparatus, which drives protein import across the envelope membranes into the organelle, before various internal systems mediate downstream routing to different suborganellar compartments. The protein import system is proteolytically regulated by the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS), enabling centralized control over the organellar proteome. In addition, the UPS targets a range of chloroplast proteins directly. In this Cell Science at a Glance article and the accompanying poster, we present mechanistic details of these different chloroplast protein targeting and translocation events, and of the UPS systems that regulate chloroplast proteins
