    Objective: To explore the systematic diversity of mangrove actinomycetes as well as screening of top valued enzymes Methods: The target sampling region was selected on Muthupet mangrove forest, Tamilnadu, India. Soil samples were collected at a depth of 15-25 cm from the land to the marine. All isolates were identified by classical approach by means of morphological, physiological and biochemical characterization. In addition, the ability of selective Streptomyces isolates producing important enzymes such as amylase, protease, lipases, esterase and gelatinase were screened for industrial application. Results: In total, 205 actinomycetes were isolated from mangrove sediments and most of the genus belongs to Streptomycetes. Among, 35 morphologically distinct Streptomyces species were exhibited positive results for amylase (25%), Protease (21%), Lipase (16%), Esterase (17%) and Gelatinase (21%) Conclusion: The research focused towards exploring marine actinomycetes as a source for enzyme reservoir to compensate current industrial demands

    A Novel Neural Network based Classification for ECG Signals

    Cardiac Arrhythmia represents heart abnormalities. This problem is faced by people, irrespective of age. Even the physicians feel difficulty in diagnosing the abnormal behavior of heart accurately. Accurate detection of cardiac abnormalities helps to provide right treatment. Classification plays an important role in predicting abnormal behaviors of heart and it helps the physician to treat the patients who are having cardiac arrhythmia. Extracted features from ECG (Electrocardiogram) signals are used for classification. It is possible to extract multiple features from ECG signal regardless of the features used for classification. Classification performed using all the extracted features leads to misclassification of abnormalities. So feature selection is an important concept in classifying the normal and abnormal behavior of heart.     Prediction of Success or Failure of Software Projects based on Reusability Metrics using Support Vector Machine

    In the field of computer science & engineering and software industry the term reusability means usage of existing software assets or previously developed code in the software development process. The assets of the software are products and by-products of the product development life cycle which includes code, test cases, software designs and code documentation. The process of modifying the existing assets as per the need and specific requirements is called leveraging. But the reusability process creates a new version of the existing assets. So always reusability is preferred rather than leveraging. To identify the quality of the reusability of the software components various software metrics are available. But the framework or model that can predict the reusability of the software assets are needed to be developed. The reusability metrics must be identified during the design or coding phase and that can be used to reduce the rework needed develop a similar software module. This can much improve the productivity due to the probabilistic increase in the reuse level. In this study various software metrics representing the software reusability nature of the software components are collected in relation with a particular software project to form a database. The database is divided in to training and test set and Support Vector Machine is trained using the Radial Basis Function (RBF) to predict whether the software component can be reused or not

    Divergence Between the Human State Assumption and Actual Aircraft System State

    Divergence is defined in this thesis as an inconsistency between the human operator’s assumption of the system state and the actual state of the system, which is substantial enough to have consequential effects on the outcome of the situation. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the concept of divergence and develop a framework that can be used to identify the consequential causes of divergence in cases involving human-system interaction. Many recent aircraft accidents involve divergence between the crew state assumption and the actual system state. As aircraft systems and automation become more complex, it’s possible that the consequential effects of divergence, illustrated by these accidents, could become more prevalent due to the correspondingly more complex understanding that may be required by the crew to effectively operate the aircraft. Divergence was explored as a concept by (1) understanding the previous literature related to divergence such as work on human error, human information processing, situation awareness, and mode awareness (2) developing a framework that can be used to understand possible causes of divergence, (3) illustrating use of the framework with accident case studies, and (4) discussing the implications of the findings of the case study analysis of divergence. Human information processing of divergence was developed using the established human information processing literature including Wickens (1992), Endsley (1995), and Reason (1990). The framework highlighted the inputs to the human and represented human processing of this information in relation to formation of a state assumption. The process model was used to identify potential causes of divergence, which were hypothesized as human information processing failures affecting the human state assumption, and to evaluate the effects of those failures on downstream processes and the human state assumption. Eleven accident case studies involving automation mode confusion were conducted to evaluate divergence using the process model of divergence. Eight of the case studies involved auto-throttle mode confusion and the three remaining cases involved divergence in other automation systems that resulted in controlled flight into terrain.     VLSI Implementation of Barrel Distortion Correction in Endoscopic Images based on Least Squares Estimation

    An efficient VLSI Implementation of Barrel Distortion Correction (BDC) in Endoscopic Images based on Least Squares Estimation is presented in this paper. Computational complexity is reduced by employing Odd order polynomial, as an approximation to Back-mapping expansion polynomial. This polynomial can be solved in monomial form, by Estrin\u27s algorithm. In Estrin’s algorithm, a high order expression can be factorized in to sub-expression, which can be evaluated in parallel. In our simulation, on comparison with some existing distortion correction techniques, 75% of hardware cost and 70% of memory requirement is reduced by using TSMC 0.18μm technology
