    Nonlocality of nucleon interaction and an anomalous off shell behavior of the two-nucleon amplitudes

    The problem of the ultraviolet divergences that arise in describing the nucleon dynamics at low energies is considered. By using the example of an exactly solvable model it is shown that after renormalization the interaction generating nucleon dynamics is nonlocal in time. Effects of such nonlocality on low-energy nucleon dynamics are investigated. It is shown that nonlocality in time of nucleon-nucleon interactions gives rise to an anomalous off-shell behavior of the two-nucleon amplitudes that have significant effects on the dynamics of many-nucleon systems.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures, ReVTeX

    Somatosensory-Evoked Early Sharp Waves in the Neonatal Rat Hippocampus

    The developing entorhinal–hippocampal system is embedded within a large-scale bottom-up network, where spontaneous myoclonic movements, presumably via somatosensory feedback, trigger hippocampal early sharp waves (eSPWs). The hypothesis, that somatosensory feedback links myoclonic movements with eSPWs, implies that direct somatosensory stimulation should also be capable of evoking eSPWs. In this study, we examined hippocampal responses to electrical stimulation of the somatosensory periphery in urethane-anesthetized, immobilized neonatal rat pups using silicone probe recordings. We found that somatosensory stimulation in ~33% of the trials evoked local field potential (LFP) and multiple unit activity (MUA) responses identical to spontaneous eSPWs. The somatosensory-evoked eSPWs were delayed from the stimulus, on average, by 188 ms. Both spontaneous and somatosensory-evoked eSPWs (i) had similar amplitude of ~0.5 mV and half-duration of ~40 ms, (ii) had similar current-source density (CSD) profiles, with current sinks in CA1 strata radiatum, lacunosum-moleculare and DG molecular layer and (iii) were associated with MUA increase in CA1 and DG. Our results indicate that eSPWs can be triggered by direct somatosensory stimulations and support the hypothesis that sensory feedback from movements is involved in the association of eSPWs with myoclonic movements in neonatal rats

    Hydrophobization of Track Membrane Surface by Magnetron Sputter Deposition of Ultra-high Molecular Weight Polyethylene

    Method for the formation of polymer coatings on the poly(ethylene terephthalate) track-etched membrane surface by magnetron sputter deposition of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene in a vacuum is considered. The surface morphology and chemical structure of nanoscale coatings have been investigated. It is shown that the application of the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene-like coatings leads to hydrophobization of the membrane surface, the degree of which depends on the coating thickness. Besides, the usage of this modification method leads to smoothing of structural inhomogeneity of the membrane surface, a decrease in pore diameter, and alteration of pore shape. The investigation of the chemical structure of deposited coatings by XPS method showed that they contain a significant concentration of oxygen-containing functional groups. The composite membranes of the developed sample can be used in the process of desalination of seawater by the method of membrane distillation

    Integrals of Motion for Critical Dense Polymers and Symplectic Fermions

    We consider critical dense polymers L(1,2){\cal L}(1,2). We obtain for this model the eigenvalues of the local integrals of motion of the underlying Conformal Field Theory by means of Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz. We give a detailed description of the relation between this model and Symplectic Fermions including the indecomposable structure of the transfer matrix. Integrals of motion are defined directly on the lattice in terms of the Temperley Lieb Algebra and their eigenvalues are obtained and expressed as an infinite sum of the eigenvalues of the continuum integrals of motion. An elegant decomposition of the transfer matrix in terms of a finite number of lattice integrals of motion is obtained thus providing a reason for their introduction.Comment: 53 pages, version accepted for publishing on JSTA

It can be regarded as an extension of the "nearly commutative" algebra C[X,Y]C[X,Y] with XY=(1)pYXX Y =(-1)^p Y X by nilpotents.     Effects of NO Synthase Blocker L-NAME on Functional State of the Neuromotor System during Traumatic Disease of the Spinal Cord

    © 2017, Springer Science+Business Media New York.Functional state of the neuromotor system after administration of a nonspecific NO synthase blocker L-NAME was studied on the model of experimental contusion of the spinal cord. Electron paramagnetic resonance measurements of NO production in the damaged segment of the spinal cord were performed for estimation of the dynamics of intensity of NO production during traumatic disease of the spinal cord and selection of optimal period for L-NAME administration. The status of the neuromotor system was evaluated by stimulation electromyography. Treatment with L-NAME during the acute period of traumatic injury to the spinal cord sharply reduced the intensity of evoked motor responses and more pronounced increase in excitability of peripheral motor structures. The results suggest that NO system is a factor of regulation of the stress-induced and adaptive responses of the body at the early stage of spinal cord injury

    Solvable Critical Dense Polymers

    A lattice model of critical dense polymers is solved exactly for finite strips. The model is the first member of the principal series of the recently introduced logarithmic minimal models. The key to the solution is a functional equation in the form of an inversion identity satisfied by the commuting double-row transfer matrices. This is established directly in the planar Temperley-Lieb algebra and holds independently of the space of link states on which the transfer matrices act. Different sectors are obtained by acting on link states with s-1 defects where s=1,2,3,... is an extended Kac label. The bulk and boundary free energies and finite-size corrections are obtained from the Euler-Maclaurin formula. The eigenvalues of the transfer matrix are classified by the physical combinatorics of the patterns of zeros in the complex spectral-parameter plane. This yields a selection rule for the physically relevant solutions to the inversion identity and explicit finitized characters for the associated quasi-rational representations. In particular, in the scaling limit, we confirm the central charge c=-2 and conformal weights Delta_s=((2-s)^2-1)/8 for s=1,2,3,.... We also discuss a diagrammatic implementation of fusion and show with examples how indecomposable representations arise.
