New virulent pathotypes of Sclerospora graminicola and resistance sources in pearl millet for A1 zone in India
Sixteen isolates of downy mildew (DM) pathogen (Sclerospora graminicola) collected during 2009 and 2010 from the A1 zone in India that comprises parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Haryana were characterized for virulence diversity along with five isolates collected during 1997 to 2005 from this region that are currently being used in the greenhouse screening. Based on DM incidence, three new pathotypes Sg 445, Sg 526 and Sg 519 identified as most virulent were selected for the greenhouse screening of 158 breeding lines under high disease pressure (>90% disease incidence in the susceptible checks). Twenty nine lines were resistant (=10% disease incidence) to at least one of the three pathotypes. Three lines were free from DM and five lines were resistant (=10% disease incidence) to all the three pathotypes, and seven lines were resistant to two of the three pathotypes. The multiple pathotype resistance identified in these breeding lines provides valuable genetic resources for breeding disease resistant pearl millet parental lines and hybrids for A1 zone in India
Evidence for Parton kT Effects in High pT Particle Production
Inclusive pizero and direct-photon cross sections in the kinematic range 3.5
< pT < 12 GeV/c with central rapidities are presented for 530 and 800 GeV/c
proton beams and a 515 GeV/c pi- beam incident on beryllium targets. Current
Next-to-Leading-Order perturbative QCD calculations fail to adequately describe
the data for conventional choices of scales. Kinematic distributions from these
hard scattering events provide evidence that the interacting partons carry
significant initial-state parton transverse momentum (kT). Incorporating these
kT effects phenomenologically greatly improves the agreement between
calculations and the measured cross sections.Comment: 11 pages including 6 pages of figures with caption
Measurement of direct photon production at Tevatron fixed target energies
Measurements of the production of high transverse momentum direct photons by
a 515 GeV/c piminus beam and 530 and 800 GeV/c proton beams in interactions
with beryllium and hydrogen targets are presented. The data span the kinematic
ranges of 3.5 < p_T < 12 GeV/c in transverse momentum and 1.5 units in
rapidity. The inclusive direct-photon cross sections are compared with
next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations and expectations based on a
phenomenological parton-k_T model.Comment: RevTeX4, 23 pages, 32 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev.
Search for bottom squarks in pbarp collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV
We report on a search for bottom squarks produced in pbarp collisions at
sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at Fermilab. Bottom squarks are assumed
to be produced in pairs and to decay to the lightest supersymmetric particle
(LSP) and a b quark with branching fraction of 100%. The LSP is assumed to be
the lightest neutralino and stable. We set limits on the production cross
section as a function of bottom squark mass and LSP mass.Comment: 5 pages, Latex. submitted 3-12-1999 to PRD - Rapid Communicatio
A Quasi-Model-Independent Search for New Physics at Large Transverse Momentum
We apply a quasi-model-independent strategy ("Sleuth") to search for new high
p_T physics in approximately 100 pb^-1 of ppbar collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV
collected by the DZero experiment during 1992-1996 at the Fermilab Tevatron.
Over thirty-two e mu X, W+jets-like, Z+jets-like, and 3(lepton/photon)X
exclusive final states are systematically analyzed for hints of physics beyond
the standard model. Simultaneous sensitivity to a variety of models predicting
new phenomena at the electroweak scale is demonstrated by testing the method on
a particular signature in each set of final states. No evidence of new high p_T
physics is observed in the course of this search, and we find that 89% of an
ensemble of hypothetical similar experimental runs would have produced a final
state with a candidate signal more interesting than the most interesting
observed in these data.Comment: 28 pages, 17 figures. Submitted to Physical Review
Search for R-parity Violating Supersymmetry in Dimuon and Four-Jets Channel
We present results of a search for R-parity-violating decay of the neutralino
chi_1^0, taken to be the Lightest Supersymmetric Particle. It is assumed that
this decay proceeds through one of the lepton-number violating couplings
lambda-prime_2jk (j=1,2; k=1,2,3). This search is based on 77.5 pb-1 of data,
collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron in ppbar collisions at
a center of mass energy of 1.8 TeV in 1992-1995.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure
