Sensitivity of Rural Housing Values to Aggregate Economic Policy
This paper has a two-fold contribution, 1) Examine the importance of aggregate economic policy on housing prices and rural housing prices, and 2) delineate factors resulting in divergent housing prices between urban and rural markets. Empirical application to US state level data from 1975-2006 indicates general economic variables are consistently influencing both urban and rural housing prices. While the farm economic variables do have differential influences on the housing and rural housing prices, their effects are transitory. Finally regional effects have greater impact on differential effects on urban rural housing price indexes than national farm programs.US state data, rural housing prices, 1975-2007., Community/Rural/Urban Development,
MEASURING SCOPE AND SCALE EFFICIENCY GAINS DUE TO SPECIALIZATION
Using the non-parametric linear programming approach, this study examines overall efficiency gains due to diversification between crop and livestock enterprises for a sample of Kansas farms. Overall efficiency gains were decomposed into scope efficiency gains and scale efficiency gains. Farms with both crops and livestock were found to be less efficient than farms with just crops or just livestock. Operator age, profit margin, and farm size were significantly related to overall efficiency.Farm Management,
Design of Zero Voltage Switching Boost DC-DC Converter Using Bond Graph Model
The research in power supply design is moving towards improving efficiency by reducing losses. Another aspect of research in power converters is its modeling as it involves multiple domains such as electrical, mechanical, magnetic...etc. bond graph modeling is suitable for the multi domain systems. Here, a zero voltage switching boost converter is designed using its bond graph model. The bond graph simulated results which are done in MATLAB/SIMULINK are matched with the experimental results. The efficiency of the ZVS boost converter is calculated and is compared with the efficiency of conventional pulse width modulated (PWM) boost converter
Genetic sequences derived from suppression subtractive hybridization analysis provides insight into their possible roles in Xanthomonas albilineans
Leaf scald disease (LSD) is caused by the Gram-negative bacterium, Xanthomonas albilineans. Genomic DNA from X. albilineans and Xanthomonas hyacinthi were analyzed by suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) using X. albilineans as the tester from which unique sequences were sought and X. hyacinthi as the driver. Following the SSH procedure, amplification products within the size range of 100 - 600 bp were generated, purified, directly cloned with the Promega pGEM-T vector cloning kit, and transformed into ultracompetent Escherichia coli X L2-blue MRF’ cells (Stratagene, La Jolla, CA). Clones selected were sequenced (using a Perkin Elmer ABI PRISM Dye terminator cycle sequencing kit and ABI Model 377 DNA sequencer) in one direction with SP6 and T7 primers (Promega). Clone Xa 6 revealed very close homology with a probable bacterioferritin from Pseudomonasaeruginosa. Clone X. albilineans 12 showed 92% homology to the acetate repressor proteins and clone X. albilineans 18 displayed 85% homology to the plasmid pTOM9 from Alcaligenes xylosoxidans.Sequencing data also revealed homology to various hypothetical proteins
Management of supracondylar fracture humerus type 3 in children with percutaneous K-wire vs. open reduction and internal fixation with K-wire
Background: Aim of the study is to determine the relation between the reduction technique percutaneous pinning and open reduction and internal fixation with K-wire used in management of supracondylar humerus fractures in paediatric age group and the ultimate elbow status (functional and cosmetic), so that appropriate reduction technique can be adopted for better functional and cosmetic outcome. Methods: Children below 12 years with Gartland’s type III supracondylar fractures managed by closed reduction and percutaneous K-wire fixation and open reduction and K-wire fixation and Flynn’s criteria was used to grade the outcome of surgical fixation. 10 Closed reduction and K-wire fixation and 10 open reduction and K-wire fixation were done. Results: Most of the fractures were sustained when the patient had fallen down on out stretched hand while playing or slip and fall. According to Flynn’s grading, there are 7 excellent, 2 good and 1 fair functional result observed in closed reduction and k wire fixation. There are 4 excellent, 3 good and 3 fair functional results observed in open reduction and k wire fixation with statistically significant p value 0.04. Conclusions: Open reduction through lateral approach and internal fixation wire K wires is safe and effective method of treatment, if indicated, in supracondylar fractures of humerus in children and is associated with a good outcome. A small incision medially in cases where medial epicondyle cannot be defined to visualize the epicondyle and the ulnar nerve, by which iatrogenic ulnar nerve palsy in percutaneous fixation can be prevented
GIHAT: An Efficient Prediction Technique for Measure for Diabetes Mellitus
The medical service industry is a consistently developing field, producing trillions of information consistently. The modernization of the area has an immediate association with this incremental extent. These acquired informational collections are somewhat organized however for the most part unstructured in nature. These acquired information must be prepared with most extreme care to determine finish usable examples for subjective and prescient investigations. These gigantic records of information, in the wake of handling, when utilized, will turn out to be very unpredictable. Diabetes is a lifetime disease marked by elevated levels of sugar in the blood. It is the second leading cause of sightlessness and renal disease worldwide. Sort 2 diabetes mellitus (S2DM) is genuine and expensive metabolic illness that is a developing worries among peoples .S2DM is related with various comorbid conditions that can prompt negative patient results. Comorbid endless torment is extremely basic in S2DM because of the nearness of diabetic neuropathy and musculoskeletal conditions that are related with delayed hyperglycemia. This Paper using General Integrated High Availability Transaction (GIHAT) algorithm concentrates on the causes, sorts, and factors influencing DM (diabetes mellitus), preventive measures, and treatment of diabetes other than those directly associated with Diabetic Patients structured and unstructured data-sets .This algorithm executed in “R” Programming used for statistical analysis which provides the accurate results comparing existing algorithms
Formulation and evaluation of herbal ointment containing Cajanus Cajan extract
From the ancient times being a rich source of protein and a most important forage crop, Cajanus Cajan is the most widely used and cultivated crop. It has also been used traditionally in many parts of the world for its innumerable medicinal properties but still its identity as a medicinal plant is not established. To date, several flavonoids, isoflavonoids, tannins and protein fractions have been isolated from its different parts and their medicinal uses have been established, but many bioactive constituents and pure compounds have so far been neglected by phytochemists and pharmacologists and a large amount of work has been done only on extracts and not the isolated fractions which shows scope for further study in this direction. Traditional knowledge of the past and present folk is of massive value to the development of newer drug compounds. In the present work an attempt has been made in the development of four formulations of herbal ointment of Cajanus Cajan. All the formulations were studied for physicochemical properties like spreadability, extrudability, washability, solubility, loss on drying and showed satisfactory results. The prepared formulations showed proper pH range that is approximately pH 6; it confirms the compatibility of the formulations with skin secretions. The ointment formulations were found to be stable during stability study according to ICH guidelines (40 ± 2 °C/ 75 ± 5 % RH) for 3 months. F4 was found to be the best formulation as it shows 97.36% drug release within 5 hours, drug content 97.68% as compared to other three formulations
Current factors affecting the menstrual cycle
A regular menstrual cycle is an important indicator of a healthy reproductive system. Menstrual problems affect not only women but also families, social & national economy as well. The menstrual cycle is divided into two 14-day phases. In normal healthy women, menarche occurs between the ages 10 and 16 years, with an average rhythm of 28 days, inclusive of 4–6 days of bleeding, with some common minor variations like Amenorrhoea, Oligomenorrhoea, Polymenorrhoea, Menorrhagia, Hypomenorrhoea, etc., these menstrual disorders frequently affect the quality of life of young adults women, some of the lifestyle factors like obesity, intake of junk food, stress, lack of physical activity, skipping breakfast are associated with irregular menstruation. The purpose of this study is to identify menstrual irregularities and assess the impact of lifestyle factors and on the menstrual patterns in reproductive-age females
