    Application of Bradford’s law of scattering on research publication in Astronomy & Astrophysics of India

    The present study is focused on examining the application of Bradford’s law of scattering on research articles published in the field of Astronomy & Astrophysics by Indian scientist during 1988-2017. The bibliographic data was retrieved from Web of Science (WoS) bibliographic data base for different period of time. Total 18,877 journal’s article have been published by Indian scientist in the field of Astronomy & Astrophysics during 1988-2017 which was further retrieved and analyzed separately for different blocks of 10 years as well as for 30 years consolidated too. The core journal of the field was identified. The Bradford law of scattering and Leimkuhler model was also tested to verify the data set and failed to establish the consistency in scattering of literature due to high level concentration of articles in very few journals

    Scientometric mapping of research output of NIRF first ranked institute of India: IISc, Bangalore

    The study is aimed to investigate the scientific research productivity of India’s NIRF first ranked higher academic & research institute, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore for a period of 05 years during 2014-2018. A total of 12,130 research papers were retrieved as SCIE publication from WoS bibliographical database and analyzed. The study is focused to find out the year wise institutional contribution in research, compound annual growth rate, areas of interest, collaborating institutions and countries, mode of publications, research funding agencies, prolific journals, prolific authors, authorship pattern, degree of collaborations etc. Different scientometric tools and techniques were used to analyze the data and interpretation has been done accordingly to draw out the meaningful result in evaluating the research productivity of the institute

    Grey Relational Analysis-Based Optimisation of Input Parameters of Incremental Forming Process Applied to the AA6061 Alloy

    Incremental forming is mainly based on the deformation occurring locally on sheet metal. A hemispherical head tool deforms the sheet metal progressively, and its path is controlled by means of a CNC machine. Even though the process is a time-consuming one, the cost reduction connected with punches and dies makes this process attractive for rapid prototyping. In single point incremental forming, the quality of formability mainly depends on the forming parameters and the tool path generated. In this study, cone-shaped components were formed from AA6061 alloy sheets with a thickness of 1.15 mm. Factors, such as feed rate, spindle speed, and step depth are considered as input parameters to determine the output response in terms of surface roughness and wall thickness. Taguchi’s technique was used for conducting the experiments with the smallest number of repetitions to evaluate the output. Grey relational analysis was introduced to determine the optimal forming parameters with respect to the output response. The experiments conducted with the optimised parameters show a minimal deviation of 0.15% in the grade value compared to the predicted grade which is acceptable

Due to modern city life we never find time to check any of our electric appliances, switches, thermostats, air conditioners and so on, whether they are regularly switched off when not in use. This results in Energy wastage, security risk, and eventually leads to stress. In our method we suggest an ease off method by using an Android phone with minimal power specifications

    Study of sickle cell anaemia with clinical and hematological correlation

    Background: Sickle cell anaemia is a hemoglobinopathy with the production of abnormal hemoglobin, HbS which when exposed to hypoxemia produces sickling of RBC. Severity of the disease depends on the percentage of HbS. Rise in the levels of Hb F is associated with less intense clinical course. Drugs targeted at increasing levels of HbF have prognostic significance. The aim of the study is to analyse the age, sex distribution, clinical, hematological and electrophoretic appearances and to compare with other studies.Methods: 300 sickle cell positive patients, both male and females who attended OPD were studied with all the clinical findings  and hematological parameters. 52 cases were subjected to electrophoresis.Results: Males were 154 and females were 146. Degree of anaemia was severe in females when compared to males. Of 52 cases subjected for electrophoresis 36 were homozygous, 15 were heterozygous and 1 case Sickle thalassemia. 7 cases showed HbF above 5%.Conclusions: Most of the patients were under 40 yrs suggesting decreased survival after that age.  An increased level of HbF was associated with better prognosis suggesting the need to target at drugs which increase HbF
