Existence of Dependency-Based Attacks in NodeJS Environment

    Get PDF
Node.js is an open source server-side run-time platform for JavaScript applications. Node.js applications are dependent on several, even hundreds, packages, which in turn have many dependencies. There is always a risk of malicious code hidden in one of these dependencies. This work analyzes vulnerabilities found in Node.js based applications, discusses basic types of attacks and reports about the assessment of five frequently-used Node.js packages

    The Dynamics of Firm Lobbying

We study the determinants of the dynamics of firm lobbying behavior using a panel data set covering 1998-2006. Our data exhibit three striking facts: (i) few firms lobby, (ii) lobbying status is strongly associated with firm size, and (iii) lobbying status is highly persistent over time. Estimating a model of a firm's decision to engage in lobbying, we find significant evidence that up-front costs associated with entering the political process help explain all three facts. We then exploit a natural experiment in the expiration in legislation surrounding the H-1B visa cap for high-skilled immigrant workers to study how these costs affect firms' responses to policy changes. We find that companies primarily adjusted on the intensive margin: the firms that began to lobby for immigration were those who were sensitive to H-1B policy changes and who were already advocating for other issues, rather than firms that became involved in lobbying anew. For a firm already lobbying, the response is determined by the importance of the issue to the firm's business rather than the scale of the firm's prior lobbying efforts. These results support the existence of significant barriers to entry in the lobbying process.

Background: Puberty menorrhagia can pose a significant challenge to the gynecologist when associated with serious systemic complications like anaemia and hypoproteinaemia. Early diagnosis and treatment with individualization of each and every case is the keystone in the management of puberty menorrhagia. Exclusion of pregnancy is mandatory in every case, irrespective of the history, reassurance, counseling, regular follow-up along with a balanced nutritional diet and long term iron therapy go a long way in successful management of such cases. Methods: Data was collected from medical case records in each of these cases from indoor case sheets. Results: There were 35 indoor admissions in the gynaecology ward at GMC Akola 2011 to 2013 for critical puberty menorrhagia over a span of two years. The leading cause was anovulatory dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Other systemic associations included hypothyroidism, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, genital tuberculosis, and PCOD. Each case was analyzed for demographic profile, duration of menorrhagia, severity of symptoms, degree of anaemia, final diagnosis, requirement of blood and component therapy and response to conservative management.  Conclusions: Most abnormal bleeding in adolescents is caused by immaturity of the hypothalamic - pituitary ovarian axis resulting in anovulation. Approximately 20% of adolescents have an underlying endocrine or haematological disorder requiring targeted diagnostic testing

DEVELOPMENT OF HPLC AND CHEMOMETRIC ASSISTED SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS FOR THE SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF FIVE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN COUGH AND COLD TABLETS AND THEIR APPLICATION TO DISSOLUTION STUDY

    Get PDF
Objective: Chemometric assisted spectrophotometry, and HPLC methods have been developed for the simultaneous determination of phenylephrine hydrochloride (PEPH), paracetamol (PCM), guaifenesin (GNF), chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM) and bromhexine hydrochloride (BRM).Methods: The chromatographic separation was carried out on a Phenomenex RPC18 column. An isocratic elution was carried out with the mobile phase comprising methanol, acetonitrile and 10 mM phosphate buffer (pH 3) in the ratio of 27.5:22.5:50 respectively at a wavelength of 218 nm. Two chemometric methods i.e. principal component regression (PCR) method and partial least squares (PLS) method were also developed to quantify each drug in the mixture using the information included in the UV absorption spectra of appropriate solutions in the range 210–320 nm with the intervals of 2 nm at 51 wavelengths. Results: The three methods were successfully applied to a tablet formulation and the results were compared statistically by applying ANOVA, which showed no significant difference among the three methods. The methods were applied to the dissolution study of the five components in tablet formulation and the percentage release of all the five components was found to be greater than 85% within 45 min by all the three methods. Conclusion: Thus, the proposed methods, i.e., PLS, PCR and HPLC, were found to be suitable and can be successfully used for the determination of the PEPH, PCM, GNF, CPM and BRM in pharmaceutical tablet formulation as well as for dissolution study.Â

AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF PRAJASTHAPAN MAHAKASHAYA ON VANDHYATWA W. S. R. TO FEMALE INFERTILITY

In Charaka samhita, among the fifty important decotives, Prajasthapan mahakashaya (fertility promoters) was introduced according its Doshaj prabhav (specific action) of the drugs and promotes strength and conceiving by removing Doshas to female reproductive system. These drugs are also having Rasayana properties, which improve the quality of all body elements. These herbs can be used all together or individually or in permutation combinations of each other on the patient's condition. In short, Prajasthapan mahakashaya can be used in all conditions involving obstruction in the path of conception and help in fixing or lead to excellence in progeny. Female Vandhyatwa (Infertility) may cause twenty Yoni vyapad (gynaecological disorders), infections, weakness, psycological factors like anxiety, depression etc., may leads disturbance in the Ritu (fertile period), Ambu (nourishment for developing the zygote), Beeja (activated ovum), Kshetra (Physiological maturity and healthy organs of reproductive system). The objective of the present study is an analytical study of Prajasthapak mahakashay on Vandhyatwa with special reference to female infertility and to analyse all ten drugs of Prajasthapan Mahakashaya to collect the information on latest studies on above mentioned factors

Analysis of Labour Productivity in Construction Sector around Mumbai region

    Get PDF
Productivity is an important aspect of construction industry that may be used as an index for efficiency of production. Efficient management of construction resources can lead to higher productivity which can help to achieve cost and time saving. Construction is labour oriented industry. It heavily relies on the skills of its workforce. The labour is industry’s most valuable asset. It is important to improve efficiency of production by improving productivity of labour. Aim of this paper is to give the data collection for calculation of labour productivity. The data have been collected by using time study technique in Mumbai region. Method study for placing and binding the reinforcement of column has been done previously. Applying the changes in method the data have been again collected and analysis for productivity have done which results in saving of project time, labour cost with maintaining quality of work
