Ultrafast dynamics of neutral superexcited Oxygen: A direct measurement of the competition between autoionization and predissociation

Using ultrafast extreme ultraviolet pulses, we performed a direct measurement of the relaxation dynamics of neutral superexcited states corresponding to the nl\sigma_g(c^4\Sigma_u^-) Rydberg series of O_2. An XUV attosecond pulse train was used to create a temporally localized Rydberg wavepacket and the ensuing electronic and nuclear dynamics were probed using a time-delayed femtosecond near-infrared pulse. We investigated the competing predissociation and autoionization mechanisms for superexcited molecules and found that autoionization is dominant for the low n Rydberg states. We measured an autoionization lifetime of 92+/-6 fs and 180+/-10 fs for (5s,4d)\sigma_g and (6s,5d)\sigma_g Rydberg state groups respectively. We determine that the disputed neutral dissociation lifetime for the \nu=0 vibrational level of the Rydberg series is 1100+/-100fs.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

In this paper analysis of two dimensional airfoils model of NACA002412 and NACA0012 forthe aerodynamic characteristics at various Reynolds number for a range of attack from lift through stall, based on the chord length of the airfoil. Using the Spalart-Allmaras, the k-epsilon (RNG) and the k-omegashear stress transport (SST) models are used to simulate drag, pressure coefficient, local characteristicsand the lift. In the wind tunnel of NACA(National Aeronautics Advisory Committee) experimentalmeasurement and comparison prognosis for selected aerodynamic airfoils are presented. The geometricparameters of blade including twist angle distribution and chord are determined based on aerodynamicparameters results at a specific Reynolds number. This study is carried out by providing an optimal bladedesign strategy for horizontal-axis wind turbines operating at different Reynolds numbers. In this approachcan be further developed to create the most efficient of horizontal axis wind turbine blade design. As aconclusion the experimental results were compared with simulation results, good concordance were note

This is a descriptive study from Aurangabad district, Maharashtra, India to evaluate epidemiologic profile of oral cancer patients who underwent treatment during 2012 to 2016.Methods: Demographic and clinical profile of 500 patients was recorded with validated questionnaire. Results: With male: female ratio was 2.90:1; the mean age of the patients of oral cancer was 47.73 years. Tobacco consumption was the leading cause associated with statistically significant association (p value < 0.000) among the gender and tobacco use suggesting men are more prone to use tobacco than women. 74% patients received satisfactory treatment and all the patients strongly reported need of doctor’s advice, family support, discontinuation of substance abuse habits and financial help. Patients reported the need of acceptance by society and good diet and nutrition. However, many denied the need of psychological counseling and regular check-up. There was statistically significant association (p value < 0.001) found among the gender and needs for good diet and nutrition, psychological counseling, regular check-up, discontinuation of tobacco habits. Statistically significant association (p value < 0.001) found among the occupation and needs for good diet and nutrition, psychological counseling and acceptance by society. Conclusions: The study projects the epidemiology and focuses on the needs of the patients which require the specific attention and efforts through patient’s education and awareness

Minimum-cost multicast over coded packet networks

Get PDF
We consider the problem of establishing minimum-cost multicast connections over coded packet networks, i.e., packet networks where the contents of outgoing packets are arbitrary, causal functions of the contents of received packets. We consider both wireline and wireless packet networks as well as both static multicast (where membership of the multicast group remains constant for the duration of the connection) and dynamic multicast (where membership of the multicast group changes in time, with nodes joining and leaving the group). For static multicast, we reduce the problem to a polynomial-time solvable optimization problem, and we present decentralized algorithms for solving it. These algorithms, when coupled with existing decentralized schemes for constructing network codes, yield a fully decentralized approach for achieving minimum-cost multicast. By contrast, establishing minimum-cost static multicast connections over routed packet networks is a very difficult problem even using centralized computation, except in the special cases of unicast and broadcast connections. For dynamic multicast, we reduce the problem to a dynamic programming problem and apply the theory of dynamic programming to suggest how it may be solved

Puerperal sepsis is among the leading and preventable causes of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide and especially in developing countries. We report an interesting case of home delivery complicated with puerperal sepsis, who required obstetric hysterectomy. Inspite of being a resident of an urban metropolitan city patient had no access to antepartum, intrapartum or even postpartum care. She presented on day eleven postpartum to our institute by which time, her condition had progressed to frank pyoperitoneum and severe anaemia. Urgent, aggressive intervention in the form of evacuation of intra-abdominal pus, obstetric hysterectomy with oophorectomy saved her life

252-258Alphonsea sclerocarpa Thwaites belonging to the family Annonaceae is a small tree, which grows up to 10-15 m tall the leaves are simple and alternate. Despite its medicinal properties the plant seems to be less explored and hence this research aims at exploring the antiurolithiatic activity of ethanolic leaf extract of A. sclerocarpa on ethylene glycol induced urolithiasis in rats. A. sclerocarpa leaf powder was extracted using ethanol. The effect of ethanolic leaf extract of A. sclerocarpa (250 and 500 mg/kg, p.o.) was studied in experimentally induced renal stone in rats by in vivo model. Ethylene glycol model (0.75% in drinking water, for 28 days) was used for renal stone induction. The blood, urine and kidney samples were used for various parameters. The concentration of calcium, oxalate, phosphorus, creatinine and blood urea nitrogen was observed in each group. The phytochemical analysis was carried out to detect the presence of secondary metabolites like saponins and flavonoids in the ethanolic extract of A. sclerocarpa leaf extract. In ethylene glycol (0.75% v/v) treated animal model ethanolic extract of A. sclerocarpa leaf extract showed significant results on stone promoters (calcium oxalate, inorganic phosphate and sodium), kidney function parameters (uric acid, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine). On the basis of biochemical parameters and histopathological study it was confirmed that A. sclerocarpa leaf extract protected the renal cells from oxidative stress and injury induce by calcium oxalate crystals. The investigation of ethanolic extract of A. sclerocarpa leaf has shown promising antiurolithiatic activity and support folklore claims of these plants as antiurolithiatic. The mechanism of action of these plants for antiurolithiatic is apparently related to increased diuresis and lowering of urinary concentrations of stone-forming constituents, though it should be confirmed by the extensive exploratory studies

Get PDF
Space-based electronic intelligence system provides wide coverage and unrestricted access to adversary radar signals. These systems play a vital role in strategic intelligence gathering for assessing electronic order of battle. These systems need to be SWaP optimized with highly efficient algorithms to extract accurate radar parameters. The realization of such a system is a persistent challenge due to the limited availability of space graded components and associated tools. Towards this, the paper deliberates upon various signal processing algorithms to achieve highly accurate direction-of-arrival (DOA), high-frequency resolution and precise timing information for pulse width and pulse repetition frequency extraction. All the proposed algorithms have been implemented, ported and tested on Xilinx Kintex Ultra Scale FPGA KU060 and being evaluated in the radiation setups to establish the performance. High DOA accuracy and frequency accuracy of the order of 0.3 degree and 0.64 MHz respectively have been achieved

BackgroundIntimate partner violence (IPV) victimization is linked to a broad range of negative maternal health outcomes. However, it is unclear whether IPV is directly related to poor maternal outcomes or whether IPV is a marker for other forms of chronic, mundane maltreatment of women that stem from the culture of gender inequity that also gives rise to IPV. To determine the prevalence of non-violent forms of gender-based household maltreatment by husbands and in-laws (GBHM), and violence from in-laws (ILV) and husbands (IPV) against women during the peripregnancy period (during and in the year prior to pregnancy); to assess relative associations of GBHM, ILV and IPV with maternal health.MethodsCross-sectional data were collected from women <6 months postpartum (n = 1,039, ages 15-35 years) seeking child immunization in Mumbai, India. Associations of IPV, ILV and GBHM during the peripregnancy period with maternal health (prenatal care in first trimester, no weight gain, pain during intercourse, high blood pressure, vaginal bleeding, premature rupture of membranes, premature birth) were evaluated.ResultsOne in three women (34.0 %) reported IPV, 4.8 % reported ILV, and 48.5 % reported GBHM during the peripregnancy period. After adjusting for other forms of abuse, IPV related to pain during intercourse (AOR = 1.79); ILV related to not receiving first trimester antenatal care (AOR = 0.49), and GBHM remained associated with premature rupture of membranes (AOR = 2.28), pain during intercourse (AOR = 1.60), and vaginal bleeding (AOR = 1.80).ConclusionAfter adjusting for ILV and IPV, peripregnancy GBHM remained significantly associated with multiple forms of maternal morbidity, suggesting that GBHM is a prevalent and reliable indicator of maternal health risk
