Rotating effects on the scalar field in the cosmic string spacetime, in the spacetime with space-like dislocation and in the spacetime with a spiral dislocation
In the interface between general relativity and relativistic quantum
mechanics, we analyse rotating effects on the scalar field subject to a
hard-wall confining potential. We consider three different scenarios of general
relativity given by the cosmic string spacetime, the spacetime with space-like
dislocation and the spacetime with a spiral dislocation. Then, by searching for
a discrete spectrum of energy, we analyse analogues effects of the
Aharonov-Bohm effect for bound states and the Sagnac effect.Comment: 12 pages, no figure. To be published in The European Physical Journal
Solar array strip and a method for forming the same
A flexible solar array strip is formed by providing printed circuitry between flexible layers of a nonconductive material, depositing solder pads on the printed circuitry, and storing the resulting substrate on a drum from which it is then withdrawn and advanced along a linear path. Solderless solar cells are serially transported into engagement with the pads and are infrared radiation to melt the solder and attach the cells to the circuitry. Excess flux is cleaned from the solar cells which are then encapsulated in a protective coating. The resulting array is then wound on a drum
Generalized WDVV equations for B_r and C_r pure N=2 Super-Yang-Mills theory
A proof that the prepotential for pure N=2 Super-Yang-Mills theory associated
with Lie algebras B_r and C_r satisfies the generalized WDVV
(Witten-Dijkgraaf-Verlinde-Verlinde) system was given by Marshakov, Mironov and
Morozov. Among other things, they use an associative algebra of holomorphic
differentials. Later Ito and Yang used a different approach to try to
accomplish the same result, but they encountered objects of which it is unclear
whether they form structure constants of an associative algebra. We show by
explicit calculation that these objects are none other than the structure
constants of the algebra of holomorphic differentials.Comment: 8 page
Determination of Backscattering Sources in Various Targets
The objectives of this research are to identify the primary contributors to 10 GHz radar backscatter from various natural and man-made surfaces and objects, and to use this information in developing new and better models for the scatter. When the true sources are known for the scattering that leads to variation in intensity on radar images, the images (and sets of them) may be interpreted more meaningfully in terms of the variation of parameters of interest for science or application. For example, better interpretation of vegetation images may be possible for yield forecasting and stress detection

If I am woman, who are 'they'? The construction of 'other' feminisms
Characterizations of feminist identities are presented, represented and, arguably, misrepresented within current public debates and popular media. Issues of sameness and difference have come to the fore as both timely and politically relevant. This paper aims to address issues arising from engagement with feminisms, in particular those which we experience as 'other' but which, concurrently, resonate with many of our concerns. Conflicting views revolve around the viability of constructing stable political identities for women who elect to include the term 'feminist' in their selfdescription. These debates become increasingly complex when contextualized within relative power positionings of knowledge production in differing arenas. Drawing on the literature around the legitimization of gender and political identities, the authors reflect in this paper on the possibilities of engaging with these identities, both in our capacity of 'others', but also as individuals whose theoretical positioning resonates with the issues under consideration
