    Effect of Corn Silk-Boiled Water on Cholesterol Level in Patients with Hypercholesterolemia in Bandung, West Java

    BACKGROUND: Corn silk is a traditional medicine that has been identified to contain protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and fiber. It also contains chemicals which might work like water pills (diuretics), and it might alter blood sugar levels, and help reduce inflammation. Corn silk has been used for bladder infections, inflammation of the urinary system, inflammation of the prostate, kidney stones, and bedwetting. It is also used to treat congestive heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, fatigue, and high cholesterol levels. Hypercholesterolemia is a condition characterized by an increased level of blood cholesterol >200 mg/dL. Hypercholesterolemia contributed to approximately 4.4 million or 7.9% mortality rate in the world annually. This study aimed to examine effect of corn hair-boiled water on cholesterol level in patients with hypercholes-terolemia. SUBJECT AND METHODS: This was a quasi-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. This study was conducted in UPT Puskesmas Telaga Bodas, Bandung. A sample 0f 12 patients with hyper-cholesterolemia was selected for this study. The different in mean cholesterol level before and after treatment was analyzed using paired t-test. RESULTS: The cholesterol level decreased from before to after treatment by 14.92 mg/dL (p=0.001). CONCLUSION: Consumption of corn silk-boiled water can reduce blood cholesterol in patients with hypercholesterolemia. Keywords: hypercholesterolemia, corn silk-boiled water, traditional medicin

    Perencanaan Suksesi pada Perusahaan Keluarga Bidang Distribusi Makanan

    Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui perencanaan suksesi pada Perusahaan keluarga bidang distribusi makanan di Surabaya. Bisnis keluarga sangat erat kaitannya dengan perencanaan suksesi. Perencanaan suksesi diperlukan untuk dapat mempertahankan Perusahaan dalam jangka panjang. Suksesor harus dipersiapkan dan diberikan pelatihan dengan sebaik mungkin untuk dapat meneruskan bisnis keluarga. Suksesor yang dipilih harus memiliki kriteria sesuai kebutuhan Perusahaan. Faktor-faktor dalam penentuan suksesor berperan penting dalam suksesi dan proses mentoring. Penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan suksesi yang terjadi dalam Perusahaan keluarga serta proses pelatihan dan bimbingan terhadap calon suksesor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Perusahaan mempersiapkan perencanaan suksesi tanpa memperhatikan kriteria-kriteria yang harus dipenuhi suksesor dan proses mentoring yang informal serta tidak terstruktur

    Pertumbuhan dan Komposisi Serat Rumput Signal yang Dipupuk dengan Pupuk Hijau Cair Azolla dan Kihujan

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan pupuk hijau cair azolla dan kihujan terhadap pertumbuhan dan fraksi serat (NDF dan ADF) rumput signal (Brachiaria decumbens).Penelitian menggunakan stek rumput signal, pupuk hijau cairazolla dan kihujan, serta EM4. Penelitian disusun berdasarkan rancangan acak lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 5 kali ulangan.Perlakuan terdiri dari P0 (tanpa pupuk), P1 (pupuk azolla) dan P2 (pupuk kihujan).Parameter yang diamati adalah pertumbuhan tanaman meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, luas daun dan produksi bahan kering, fraksi serat (NDF dan ADF). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pupuk hijau cair azolla dan kihujan berpengaruh nyata (P0,05) terhadap jumlah anakan dan produksi bahan kering rumput signal. Pupuk hijauan cair azolla dan kihujan juga tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap kandungan NDF dan ADF rumput signal. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemberian pupuk hijau cair azolla dan kihujan mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan rumput signal khususnya tinggi tanaman dan luas daun, dan cenderung meningkatkan jumlah anakan dan produksi bahan kering.Penggunaan pupuk hijau cair azolla dan kihujan pada taraf P1 dan P2 belum mampu menurunkan fraksi serat (NDF dan ADF) rumput signal

    Developing Learning Media Based On Augmented Reality (Ar) To Improve Learning Motivation

    This research aims to reveal the development of Augmented Reality-based learning media to increase motivation to learn computer assembly materials. This research is an research and development type. The population was ninth students of SMP Harapan Ananda Kubu Raya totaling 112 students. The sample was 68 students with proportional random sampling technique. Data Collection using a questionnaire. To test the hypothesis, one-tailed t-test was used. Data analysis was performed descriptively. The results showed that one-tailed t-test data is posttest questionnaire motivation experimental class and control sig 0.000 <α 0.05, so it can be concluded that the motivation to learn the experimental group was higher than the control group

    Data Mining Implementation Using Naïve Bayes Algorithm and Decision Tree J48 In Determining Concentration Selection

    Computerization of society has substantially improved the ability to generate and collect data from a variety of sources. A large amount of data has flooded almost every aspect of people's lives. AMIK HASS Bandung has an Informatic Management Study Program consisting of three areas of concentration that can be selected by students in the fourth semester including Computerized Accounting, Computer Administration, and Multimedia. The determination of concentration selection should be precise based on past data, so the academic section must have a pattern or rule to predict concentration selection. In this work, the data mining techniques were using Naive Bayes and Decision Tree J48 using WEKA tools. The data set used in this study was 111 with a split test percentage mode of 75% used as training data as the model formation and 25% as test data to be tested against both models that had been established. The highest accuracy result obtained on Naive Bayes which is obtaining a 71.4% score consisting of 20 instances that were properly clarified from 28 training data. While Decision Tree J48 has a lower accuracy of 64.3% consisting of 18 instances that are properly clarified from 28 training data. In Decision Tree J48 there are 4 patterns or rules formed to determine concentration selection so that the academic section can assist students in determining concentration selection

    Total Karbohidrat Nonstruktural Pada Pangkal Batang Dan Akar Tanaman Rumput Gajah

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tingkat pertumbuhan dan regrowth terhadap total nonstructural carbohydrates (TNC) yang terakumulasi dalam pangkal batang dan akar rumput gajah. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan tersarang dimana faktor regrowth (R) tersarang pada faktor tingkat pertumbuhan (P). Faktor tingkat pertumbuhan terdiri atas tingkat vegetatif (P1) dan tingkat reproduktif (P2). Faktor regrowth terdiri atas R0 (regrowth 0 hari), R4 (regrowth 4 hari), R8 (regrowth 8 hari) dan R12 (regrowth 12 hari). Peubah yang diamati adalah produksi bahan kering (BK) dan TNC yang terakumulasi dalam pangkal batang dan akar rumput gajah. Data dianalisis dengan analisis ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, produksi BK dan TNC yang terakumulasi pada pangkal batang dan akar pada tingkat pertumbuhan reproduktif sangat nyata (P<0,01) lebih tinggi dibanding dengan tingkat pertumbuhan vegetatif. Produksi BK dan TNC yang terakumulasi dalam pangkal batang dan akar pada tingkat pertumbuhan vegetatif dan reproduktif masing-masing pada regrowth R0, menurun tidak nyata pada R4 dan nyata pada R8, kemudian meningkat tidak nyata pada R12. Disimpulkan, bahwa ada perbedaan produksi BK dan TNC yang terakumulasi pada tingkat vegatatif dan reproduktif dalam pangkal batang dan akar rumput gajah. Produksi BK dan TNC yang terakumulasi dalam pangkal batang dan akar lebih tinggi pada tingkat reproduktif dibanding dengan tingkat vegetatif. Produksi BK dan TNC yang terakumulasi dalam pangkal batang dan akar menurun pada hari ke 0 hingga hari kedelapan, kemudian meningkat pada hari kedua belas untuk tingkat pertumbuhan vegetatif dan reproduktif

    Galilee: an Internet Web Based Distance Learning Support System

    This paper presents a project of Web-based Distance Learning support system. The system has been built based on the Internet and World Wide Web facility. The system could be accessed with a web browser which is directed to a certain web server address so that students can do learning process just like in the real situation, such as student admissions, taking course materials, syllabus, assignments, students grades, class discussions through web, and doing online quizzes. Students could also join collaboration works by giving opinions, feedback and student produced paper/web which can be shared to the entire learning community. Therefore, it will build a collaborative learning environment where lectures together with students make constructive knowledge databases for entire learning community. This system has been developed based on Active Server Pages (ASP) technology from Microsoft which is embedded in a web server. Web pages reside in a web server which is connected to an SQL Database Server. Database server is used to store structured data such as lectures/students personal information, course lists, syllabus and its descriptions, announcement texts from lecturers, commentaries for discussion forum, student's study evaluations, scores for each assignment, quizzes for each course, assignments text from lectures, assignments which are collected by students and students contribution/materials. This system has been maintained by an administrator for maintaining and developing web pages using HTML. The administrator also does ASP scripts programming to convert web pages into active server pages. Lectures and students could contribute some course materials and share their ideas through their web browser. This web-based collaborative learning system gives the students more active role in the information gathering and learning process, making the distance students feel part of a learning community, therefore increasing motivation, comprehension and interaction with other students
