    Chemical properties of thymoquinone, a monoterpene isolated from the seeds of Nigella sativa Linn.

The Publisher's final version can be found by following the DOI link.Thymoquinone is the main ingredient of the essential oil extracted from the seeds of Nigella sativa L. (Ranunculaceae). The monoterpene is considered to be the active pharmaceutical ingredient in the seeds, which have traditionally been highly prized for their medicinal properties. The compound has been the focus of a considerable number of pharmacological investigations and has been reviewed regularly for its action against a variety of inflammatory diseases, its effect on metabolic syndrome, and its potential anticancer properties. While discussing the chemical and pharmacological properties of thymoquinone, recent reviews have reflected on the keto-enol tautomerism of thymoquinone. Specifically, thymoquinone is described as a tautomeric compound, where the keto-form is said to be the major configuration that is responsible for its pharmacological properties [1, 2]. In both reviews, reference is made to a 2005 review by Salem [3]. The latter review discusses a range of activities of thymoquinone, mainly on cell signalling and antioxidant (scavenging) molecular mediators involved in the process of inflammation. However, no mention is made in this review of keto- or enol forms of thymoquinone. Moreover, the chemical structure of thymoquinone does not allow keto-enol tautomerism

    The Covid-19 pandemic, which has not yet ended, has an impact on the implementation of learning, which still applies the learning process from home for several areas that are still at level 3. Therefore, teachers must continue to improve their abilities and creativity in managing an interesting learning process. Integrating technological advances by utilizing them in learning, especially for teachers in designing teaching materials or learning media that are multimedia and interactive is urgently needed. Many platforms or applications that can be utilized. One such application is Assembelr Edu. The results of initial observations show that not all teachers use the application in the learning process. This is due to limited information. Thus, a training is needed for teachers to be better prepared in carrying out distance learning. This PKM activity is in collaboration with partners, in this case SMP Kartika XIX-1 Bandung in the form of training and guidance on making interactive multimedia with the help of the Assemblr Edu application. This training activity was carried out by providing first, socialization and delivery of material. Second, direct training through mentoring and instructor guidance in making interactive multimedia with the help of the Assemblr Edu application. Third, the teacher simulates the multimedia that has been made in front of the other participants. In addition, feedback and follow-up plans will be carried out to find out the students' responses to the multimedia

    Identifikasi Tingkat Kerawanan Bandar Udara Di Indonesia

    The first priority in the airport business area is safety because the risks of fatality and death rates causing aircraft accidents are higher compared to those of other transportation modes. There is a need to investigate the rate of hazardous airports in Indonesia using a combination of Empirical Bayesian and Regression by calculating of their safety indicators. Based on the analyses it was identified that the overall safety rate of airports in Indonesia was 2,502 events per 100 thousand aircraft movements and this was classified as Safe/Regulated Systems. There was also identified 10 airports considered as hazardous ones, based on the deviation values from the largest to the smallest, namely Wamena, Hasanuddin, Polonia, Juanda, Soekarno-Hatta, Sultan Syarif Kasim II, Sepinggan, Abdul Rahman Saleh, Hang Nadim, and Depati Amir, respectively. Keselamatan Penerbangan merupakan hal serius karena risiko kematian yang diakibatkan oleh suatu peristiwa kecelakaan pesawat udara relatif tinggi dibandingkan dengan moda transportasi lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan indikator keselamatan penerbangan suatu bandar udara berdasarkan ketentuan International Civil Aviation Organization dan melakukan analisis tingkat kerawanan bandar udara di Indonesia. Penentuan tingkat kerawanan bandar udara dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kombinasi Emperical Bayesian (EB) dan Regression. Dari analisis yang dilakukan diperoleh tingkat keselamatan penerbangan di bandar udara Indonesia adalah 2.502 kejadian untuk tiap 100 ribu siklus penerbangan atau events dan diklasifikasi sebagai Safe/Regulated Systems.     Perkembangan dunia bisnis kini semakin dinamis seiring dengan semakin meningkatnya permintaan masyarakat terhadap produk dan jasa untuk memenuhi segala kebutuhannya. PT. PLN (Persero) adalah Perusahan BUMN yang bergerak dibidang penyediaan jasa kelistrikan di Indonesia, salah satunya adalah PT. PLN (Persero) cabang Manado sebagai agen listrik yang bertugas untuk membangun kegiatan-kegiatan usaha yang berkaitan dengan kelistrikan, yang tujuan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat serta mendorong peningkatan ekonomi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh promosi, harga dan kualitas layanan terhadap keputusan konsumen. Metode penelitian yang di gunakan asosiatif. Populasi penelitian ini berjumlah 703 pengguna dan sampel yang digunakan sebanyak 100 orang. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah sampling jenuh. Variabel yang digunakan keputusan konsumen, promosi, harga dan kualitas layanan. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah regersi linier berganda. Hasil analisis menunjukan promosi, harga dan kualitas layanan berpengaruh secara simultan terhadap keputusan konsumen. Sedangkan analisis parsial menunjukan hanya untuk kualitas layanan yang berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan konsumen. Pihak PLN sebaiknya memperhatikan faktor harga karena berpengaruh terhadap keputusan konsumen. Kata kunci: promosi, harga, kualitas layanan, keputusan konsume

    Kata Kunci : Beck, Budaya Populer, Musik rock, Permbentukan Identitas. Musik merupakan salah satu budaya populer di Jepang. Musik di Jepang lebih dikenal dengan sebutan J-Pop (Japanese Pop). J-Pop menaungi berbagai macam aliran musik Jepang, tetapi J-Pop berbeda dengan musik western rock. Perbedaannya terdapat pada nada-nada lagu dan juga fashion anggota bandnya. Musik sebagai budaya popler dalam film Beck karya Shiori Kutsuna ini berperan sebagai sarana pembentuk identitas tokoh utama.Musik tidak hanya populer dalam film, dalam dunia nyata pun musik sangat popular di Jepang. Baik J-Pop maupun musik rock sangat popular di Jepang, dapat dibuktikan dengan banyaknya band-band Jepang yang terkenal bahkan sampai di Indonesia, seperti Lar\u27c en Ciel, The Gazette, dan lain-lain. Film bertemakan musik yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah film Beck karya Shiori Kutsuna.Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan budaya populer dengan musik sebagai objek materialnya. Serta tiga aspek pendukung lainnya, yaitu exposure, consumption, dan use sebagai hal yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama untuk melakukan pembentukan identitas terhadap dirinya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa musik yang diterima seseorang dengan menggunakan aspek exposure, consumption, dan use dapat membentuk identitas seseorang. Seperti yang dialami oleh Koyuki selaku tokoh utama dalam film Beck ini. Koyuki yang sebelum mengenal musik rock hanyalah seorang anak SMA yang selalu mendapat ijime dari teman-temannya, berubah secara drastis setelah mengenal musik rock. Perubahannya terjadi pada sifatnya yang pendiam menjadi aktif, lalu Koyuki jadi memiliki hobi bermain gitar dan menyanyi, dan yang terpenting Koyuki menjadi seorang anggota band

    Nutritive values, Mineral and Antioxidant properties of Pistia stratiotes (Water lettuce)

    Proximate, mineral and antioxidant composition of the leaf and root samples of Pistia stratiotes were estimated using standard methods. The samples show appreciable levels of moisture (4.50±0.50%and 4.50±0.10%), crude fibre (17.50±0.87% and 20.50±1.80%), crude lipid (2.17±0.29% and 1.83±0.29%), crude protein (6.96±0.13% and 3.18±0.14%), ash (35.20±1.56% and 44.50±0.50%) and carbohydrate (38.20±2.08% and 30.00±1.46%) respectively. The minerals determined were sodium (373.00±0.50mg/100g and 113.00±0.06mg100/g), potassium (3283.00±0.76mg100/g and 1750.00±0.50mg100/g), phosphorus (336.00±0.10mg/100g and 313.00±0.03mg/100g), calcium (230.00±0.01mg/100g and 230.00±0.03mg/100g) and magnesium (370.00±0.03mg/100g and 230.00±0.03mg/100g) respectively. The antioxidant estimated are vitamin A (480.0±1.50mg/100g and1050.00±1.50mg/100g), vitamin C (560.00±0.20mg/100g and 3130.00±0.31mg/100g) and vitamin E (8260.00±3.00mg/100g and 3060±1.83mg100/g) respectively. The results show that the leaf and root portions of P.stratiotes have potential nutritional uses and the leaf parts have significant (P&lt;0.05) high values of mineral element and antioxidant than that of the root samples.Keywords: Pistia stratiotes, mineral elements, proximate analysis, antioxidant

    Truncation in the tcdC region of the Clostridium difficile PathLoc of clinical isolates does not predict increased biological activity of Toxin B or Toxin A

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The increased severity of disease associated with the NAP1 strain of <it>Clostridium difficile </it>has been attributed to mutations to the <it>tcdC </it>gene which codes for a negative regulator of toxin production. To assess the role of hyper-production of Toxins A and B in clinical isolates of <it>Clostridium difficile</it>, two NAP1-related and five NAP1 non-related strains were compared.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Sequencing was performed on <it>tcdC</it>, <it>tcdR</it>, and <it>tcdE</it> to determine if there were differences that might account for hyper-production of Toxin A and Toxin B in NAP1-related strains. Biological activity of Toxin B was evaluated using the HFF cell CPE assay and Toxin A biological activity was assessed using the Caco-2 Trans-membrane resistance assay.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Our results confirm that Toxin A and Toxin B production in NAP1-related strains and ATCC 43255 occurs earlier in the exponential growth phase compared to most NAP1-nonrelated clinical isolates. Despite the hyper-production observed in ATCC 43255 it had no mutations in <it>tcdC</it>, <it>tcdR </it>or <it>tcdE</it>. Analysis of the other clinical isolates indicated that the kinetics and ultimate final concentration of Toxin A and B did not correlate with the presence or lack of alterations in <it>tcdC</it>, <it>tcdR </it>or <it>tcdE</it>.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Our data do not support a direct role for alterations in the <it>tcdC </it>gene as a predictor of hyperproduction of Toxin A and B in NAP1-related strains.</p
