    Clinical report about the effectiveness of andriol, tamoxifen, vitamin A and lecithin on low acrosome

    BackgroundAcrosin is the most important proteolytic enzyme in fertilization, acrosome dysfunction affects fertilization. Recently, our group found that the treatment of andriol, tamoxifen, vitamin A and lecithin helped to improve acrosome function.AimsTo assess the effectiveness of andriol, tamoxifen, vitamin A and lecithin on low acrosome.MethodsSeventy-eight infertility males in my hospital were enrolled. Kenedy test was used to test acrosome function. Andriol, tamoxifen, vitamin A and lecithin were used for one to four months.ResultsSperm concentration (t=5.05, P=0.000) raised while seminal volume (t=1.93, P=0.057), normal morphology (t=0.24, P=0.811) and progressive sperm (t=2.14, P=0.036) did not show statistical difference after treatment. Acrosin was (37.62±11.07)μIU/106 sperm before treatment and raised to (52.68±15.68)μIU/106 sperm after treatment and showed statistical difference (t=8.18, P=0.00). In all the 78 males, the acrosin of seven men (11 per cent) bellowed after treatment while the acrosin of 71 males (91 per cent) raised and ten couples (13 per cent) got pregnant.ConclusionThe combined treatment of andriol, tamoxifen, vitamin A and lecithin were effective on low acrosin

    ObjectiveTo assess the effectiveness of medicine on non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA). Cases32 male patients were enrolled from March 2012 to March 2016, with age range of 23–41 years old and infertility time of 1–3 years.Methods According to “WHO Human Semen Detection and Processing Experiment Manual";;;;;; fifth edition, semen routine was based on manual detection and serum hormones based on chemiluminescence detection, semen volume, sperm density, forward moving sperm ratio. If sperm was detected in semen for more than two consecutive times, the treatment was considered effective and was included into the statistical analysis. The detection parameters took the first test data and the last test data. Treatment Andriol and tamoxifen were used for idiopathic NOA while aescuven forte and aspirin used for NOA with varicocele (including two varicocelectomy). The time was four months.ResultsOf the 32 patients, 13 underwent testicular biopsy, pathological results showed six patients (46 per cent) with hypospermatogenesis, five patients (39 per cent) with maturation arrest, and two patients (15 per cent) with sertoli cell syndrome. Nine patients (28 per cent) had varicocele; two patients (6 per cent) underwent surgical treatment. After treatment, sperm was detected in 20 patients (63 per cent), seven of them (22 per cent) had detectable sperm in semen after one month of treatment; five (19 per cent) had sperm after two months of treatment; eight (25 per cent) had sperm after three months of treatment. Among the 23 patients with idiopathic azoospermia, 13 patients had detectable sperm in semen after treatment (56 per cent). The level of hormone gradually increased in 15 patients, rapidly increased in four patients, but four patients had no obvious change of hormone level. Among the nine patients with varicocele, three persons (including one patient undergoing surgery) had normal sperm density after 3–4 months of treatment, continuing the treatment for another 2–3 months, wife of the patients gained pregnancies. After treatment, seven patients had gradually decreasing serum level of FSH, LH and T while two patients had increased serum level of hormones. Excluding the three pregnancy patients, it was showed that the sperm density increased (t=-3.342, p=0.004) after treatment, so did the forward moving sperm ratio (t=-4.037, p=0.001), but semen volume had no significant changes (t=-1.698, p=0.109). ConclusionThe treatment of varococele is important for the NOA with varicocele while andriol and tamoxifen is other method for the treatment of idiopathic NOA

    Study on Flavor Characteristics and Nutritional Evaluation of Free Amino Acids in Walnut Pellicle

    In order to explore the composition, taste characteristics and nutritional value of free amino acids in pellicle of different varieties of walnut, the content of free amino acid in the pellicle of 6 walnut varieties was detected, and the taste activity value (TAV) analysis, principal component analysis and comprehensive evaluation were carried out. The results showed that a total of 17 free amino acids could be detected in the pellicle of walnut, with a total content of 2673.86~3490.12 mg/kg. Nine medicinal amino acids accounted for 57.67%~68.23% of the total amino acids, and Leu was the first limiting amino acid in the pellicle. Glu, Asp, Thr, Cys and Arg were the main amino acids of free amino acids in the pellicle, with Glu having the highest content. The TAV value of Glu among the six cultivars was 2.34~3.81, which contributed the most to the umami of the pellicle. The TAV values of Arg in 'Jing 861', 'Bokexiang' and 'Jinboxiang 8' were 1.03~1.26, which contributed to the bitterness of the pellicle. Among the flavor amino acids, the content of umami amino acids was the highest, while aromatic amino acids had the lowest contentm. The ratio of bitter to sweet amino acid content in the 'Nonghe 1', 'Jing 861', 'Bokexiang' and 'Jinboxiang 8' was greater than 1. While the ratio of bitter to sweet amino acid content in the 'Fenhe 2' and ' Fenhe 4' was less than 1. The comprehensive quality of amino acids was also relatively higher. The amino acids in pellicle had high nutritional value and medicinal value, and the taste was bitter, as a food auxiliary material to supplement Thr, Ile and sulfur-containing amino acids, it could increase the overall taste richness of food

    ‘Qinquan 1’, a new apomixis walnut cultivar

    Introduction. Shanxi province is one of the main walnut production areas in the North of China. The cultivated species mainly belong to a Chinese walnut tree population, named ‘Mian Hetao’ (Juglans regia L.), which reproduces from seedlings. Although the walnut apomixis characteristics were discovered very early and have an important breeding value, this variety has not yet been reported as an important breeding resource. Cultivar origin. ‘Qinquan 1’ is a new cultivar of walnut tree (Juglans regia L.), selected in 1982 from walnut seedling resources in the department of Shanxi, in the North of China. This cultivar is characterized by apomixis, the ratio of which can reach 24.7%. After more than 20 years of selection and many local experiments, its characteristics were given and the cultivar was certificated in March 2007. Cultivar characteristics. Characteristics of ‘Qinquan 1’ fruits, trees, development stages, production and the apomixis rate are given. Main cultural techniques. Many characteristics of this new cultivar are suitable for its growth in the middle or south Loess Highlands (China), where the annual average temperature is 9~13 °C and rainfall is above 450 mm. The cultivar is also cultivable in the North of China where the soil and climate conditions resemble those of the original area. Other recommendations are given for improving the ‘Qinquan 1’ tree growth

    Black persimmon in the literature. The persimmon (Diospyros kaki L.) is a deciduous fruit tree originating in China. One type consisting of a group of similar cultivars is the black persimmon, which is a precious germplasm resource of China. Black persimmon is mainly distributed in the south of the Taihang Mountains in northern China. Black persimmon is astringent, though this astringency can now be removed easily via normal maturity of the fruit. The skin of the fruit is black and the flesh has abundant nutritional value, with vitamin C and carotene. Information given by a black persimmon orchard. A trial on black persimmon was carried out from 2003 to 2009 in Zhengzhou, Henan province, China. Plant growth, yields and phenological characteristics were studied. The fruit has a thick skin which assists in storage and transportation; it has excellent flavor and quality, making the fruit highly valued by producers, marketers and consumers.     Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and various modified SWCNTs have drawn a lot of attention due to their potential applications in biomedical field. Before further moving on to real clinical applications, hydrophobicity and toxicity of SWCNTs should be investigated thoroughly. In this paper, 2-methacryloyloxy ethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) was adopted to modify SWCNTs and phosphoryl choline was grafted onto SWCNTs as small molecule moieties and polymeric chains, which made SWCNTs dispersed stably both in water and in cell culture medium for a long time. Cytotoxicity of pristine and modified SWCNTs were assayed upon successful preparation of the designed modified SWCNT. Furthermore, the internalization of SWCNTs by three cells was investigated using a live cell station under normal culture temperature (37°C) and low temperature (4°C). The results showed that the internalization of modified SWCNTs was related to both the active transport and the passive transport. Although the modification with phosphoryl choline remarkably reduced the cytotoxicity of SWCNTs, the results were probably due to other reasons such as the decrease in the ratio of cells which internalized modified SWCNTs since the cells without SWCNTs occupation still exhibited normal states

    The predictive value of serum sex hormones for the outcome of testicular sperm aspiration in azoospermia

    Azoospermia is a condition that affects the reproductive health of approximately 1% of the male population, typically diagnosed through testicular biopsy. Noninvasive serum markers can play a significant role in the diagnosis of azoospermia diagnosis. This study aims at evaluating the predictive value of serum sex hormone levels to improve the outcome of sperm extraction in azoospermia patients. The data from 203 patients with azoospermia from the Urology and Reproductive Andrology Department of Peking University, Shenzhen Hospital, between January 2017 and March 2022. The cases were divided into the sperm extraction group (95 cases) and the non-sperm extraction group (108 cases), based on pathology results. The levels of serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone (T), and inhibin B (INHB) were collected and their predictive effect on the outcome of sperm extraction by testicular sperm aspiration was discussed using statistical analysis. The levels of FSH and LH were lower in the sperm extraction group were lower compared to those in the non-sperm extraction group, while the levels of T and INHB were higher in the sperm extraction group than those in the non-sperm extraction group. These differences were statistically significant (p < 0.05). Receiver Operating Characteristic-Area Under the Curve (ROC-AUC) of INHB was 0.950, ROC-AUC of FSH was 0.893, ROC-AUC of LH was 0.78, and that of testosterone was 0.593. The best predictive point of INHB was 94.30 pg/mL, and that of FSH was 10.95 IU/L, calculated by the Youden index. The levels of four serum sex hormones were significantly different between the sperm extraction group and the non-sperm extraction group. The findings suggest that FSH and inhibin B are the ideal serum predictors of the outcome of sperm extraction by testicular sperm aspiration
