Vanishing Cosmological Constant in Modified Gauss-Bonnet Gravity with Conformal Anomaly
We consider dark energy cosmology in a de Sitter universe filled with quantum
conformal matter. Our model represents a Gauss-Bonnet model of gravity with
contributions from quantum effects. To the General Relativity action an
arbitrary function of the GB invariant, f(G), is added, and taking into account
quantum effects from matter the cosmological constant is studied. For the
considered model the conditions for a vanishing cosmological constant are
considered. Creation of a de Sitter universe by quantum effects in a GB

Dynamics of damped oscillations: physical pendulum
The frictional force of the physical damped pendulum with the medium is usually assumed proportional to the pendulum velocity. In this work, we investigate how the pendulum motion will be affected when the drag force is modeled using power-laws bigger than the usual 1 or 2, and we will show that such assumption leads to contradictions with the experimental observation. For that, a more general model of a damped pendulum is introduced, assuming a power-law with integer exponents in the damping term of the equation of motion, and also in the nonharmonic regime. A Runge-Kutta solver is implemented to compute the numerical
solutions for the first five powers, showing that the linear drag has the fastest decay to rest and that bigger exponents have long-time fluctuation around the equilibrium position, which have not correlation (as is expected) with experimental results.http://unidadinvestigacion.usta.edu.c
Finding evolved stars in the inner Galactic disk with Gaia
The Bulge Asymmetries and Dynamical Evolution (BAaDE) survey will provide
positions and line-of-sight velocities of ~20,000 evolved, maser bearing stars
in the Galactic plane. Although this Galactic region is affected by optical
extinction, BAaDE targets may have Gaia cross-matches, eventually providing
additional stellar information. In an initial attempt to cross-match BAaDE
targets with Gaia, we have found more than 5,000 candidates. Of these, we may
expect half to show SiO emission, which will allow us to obtain velocity
information. The cross-match is being refined to avoid false positives using
different criteria based on distance analysis, flux variability, and color
assessment in the mid- and near-IR. Once the cross-matches can be confirmed, we
will have a unique sample to characterize the stellar population of evolved
stars in the Galactic bulge, which can be considered fossils of the Milky Way

Astrometric Galactic maser measurements cross-matched with Gaia
Using the VLBA, the BeSSeL survey has provided distances and proper motions
of young massive stars, allowing an accurate measure of the Galactic spiral
structure. By the same technique, we are planning to map the inner Galaxy using
positions and velocities of evolved stars (provided by the BAaDE survey). These
radio astrometric measurements (BeSSeL and BAaDE) will be complementary to Gaia
results and the overlap will provide important clues on the intrinsic

Maser, infrared and optical emission for late-type stars in the Galactic plane
Radio astrometric campaigns using VLBI have provided distances and proper
motions for masers associated with young massive stars (BeSSeL survey). The
ongoing BAaDE project plans to obtain astrometric information of SiO maser
stars located in the inner Galaxy. These stars are associated with evolved,
mass-losing stars. By overlapping optical (Gaia), infrared (2MASS, MSX and
WISE) and radio (BAaDE) sources, we expect to obtain important clues on the
intrinsic properties and population distribution of late-type stars. Moreover,
a comparison of the Galactic parameters obtained with Gaia and VLBI can be done
using radio observations on different targets: young massive stars (BeSSeL) and

This paper studies the liberalization of the Mexican lemon market in a world perspective using a spatial equilibrium model with endogenous prices. Several scenarios were designed related to the lemon market involving the countries that integrate NAFTA, and MEUFTA, and the removal of commercial barriers related to this fruit. The potential impact of eliminating tariffs on commercial flows, prices, and welfare are estimated. The results suggest that Mexico will benefit from NAFTA, and MEUFTA, as well as, the removal of commercial barriers in the world lemon market.
Dynamics of quantum correlations and linear entropy in a multi-qubit-cavity system
We present a theoretical study of the relationship between entanglement and
entropy in multi-qubit quantum optical systems. Specifically we investigate
quantitative relations between the concurrence and linear entropy for a
two-qubit mixed system, implemented as two two-level atoms interacting with a
single-mode cavity field. The dynamical evolutions of the entanglement and
entropy, are controlled via time-dependent cavity-atom couplings. Our
theoretical findings lead us to propose an alternative measure of entanglement,
which could be used to develop a much needed correlation measure for more
general multi-partite quantum systems.Comment: New discussions on the generality of entanglement-entropy

Kullback-Leibler and Renormalized Entropy: Applications to EEGs of Epilepsy Patients
Recently, renormalized entropy was proposed as a novel measure of relative
entropy (P. Saparin et al., Chaos, Solitons & Fractals 4, 1907 (1994)) and
applied to several physiological time sequences, including EEGs of patients
with epilepsy. We show here that this measure is just a modified
Kullback-Leibler (K-L) relative entropy, and it gives similar numerical results
to the standard K-L entropy. The latter better distinguishes frequency contents
of e.g. seizure and background EEGs than renormalized entropy. We thus propose
that renormalized entropy might not be as useful as claimed by its proponents.
In passing we also make some critical remarks about the implementation of these

Survey for âCandidatus Liberibacterâ and âCandidatus Phytoplasmaâ in Citrus in Chile
The considerable economic losses in citrus associated with âCandidatus Liberibacterâ and âCandidatus Phytoplasmaâ presence have alerted all producing regions of the world. In Chile, none of these bacteria have been reported in citrus species. During the years 2017 and 2019, 258 samples presenting symptoms similar to those associated with the presence of these bacteria were examined. No detection of âCa. Liberibacterâ associated with âhuanglongbingâ disease was obtained in the tested samples; therefore, this quarantine pest is maintained as absent in Chile. However, 14 plants resulted positive for phytoplasmas enclosed in subgroups 16SrV-A (12 plants) and 16SrXIII-F (2 plants). Although they have been found in other plant species, this is the first report of these phy-toplasmas in citrus worldwide
