Indexación: ScieloThe lichen Pseudocyphellaria nudata is a species endemic to southern South América. From the lichen tallus, methyl orsellinate, 2-methoxy-3,6-dimethyl-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, methyl-evernate, tenuiorin, hopan-6ß,22-diol and hopan-6α,76,22-triol were isolated and identified as the main lichen constituents. This is the first report of the occurrence of 2-methoxy-3,6-dimethyl-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde in lichens.http://www.scielo.cl/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=s0717-97072008000300017&nrm=is

Entre los hongos, Cryptococcus neofomans y Aspergillus fumigatus no mostraron desarrollo y las especies de Candida presentaron una CIM de 50 µg ml-1Using the tube dilution method, the possible antimicrobial activity of epiphorellic acid 1 (diphenyl e ther of lichenic origin) was tested against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. The compound tested against Staphylococcus aureus showed a CIM geometric mean of 16,3 µg ml-1; CIM 50 and CIM 9O was of 13.5 and 44.5 µg ml-1, respectively. The specific inhibition constant obtained from microbial kinetic studies, related to standard strain S. aureus ATCC 6538 was 1.41 x 10-4 min-1 ml µg. Fungi presented different levels to susceptibility. Cryptococcus neoformans and Aspergillus fumigatus did not show development, but in Candida species CIM was of 50 µg ml-1.Colegio de Farmacéuticos de la Provincia de Buenos Aire
