    The Jacobi Elliptic Equation Method for Solving Fractional Partial Differential Equations

    Based on a nonlinear fractional complex transformation, the Jacobi elliptic equation method is extended to seek exact solutions for fractional partial differential equations in the sense of the modified Riemann-Liouville derivative. For demonstrating the validity of this method, we apply it to solve the space fractional coupled Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky (KD) equations and the space-time fractional Fokas equation. As a result, some exact solutions for them including the hyperbolic function solutions, trigonometric function solutions, rational function solutions, and Jacobi elliptic function solutions are successfully found

    The market value of sustainable practices in the luxury industry:An identity mismatch and institutional theoretical perspective

    Shareholders of luxury firms uphold a view of identity mismatch between being luxury and sustainable. We examine the associated market value with sustainable practice adoption of luxury firms from an institutional theoretical lens and an identity mismatch perspective. Based on 289 announcements made by public luxury firms, results from event study show that the stock market reacts negatively to the announcements of sustainable practices. Nevertheless, the negative effect attenuates in more recent year announcements, and more profitable and smaller luxury firms. Our results alert managers to better align their sustainability goals with luxury firms' identity and the ever-changing environment

    Effects of Tonal Coarticulation and Prosodic Positions on Tonal Contours of Low Rising Tones: In the Case of Xiamen Dialect

    Few studies have worked on the effects of tonal coarticulation and prosodic positions on the low rising tone in Xiamen Dialect. This study addressed such an issue. To do so, a new method, the Tonal Contour Analysis in Tonal Triangle, was proposed to measure the subtle curvature of the tonal contour. Findings are as follows: (1) The low rising tone in Xiamen Dialect has a tendency towards the falling-rising tone, which is significantly affected by the tonal coarticulation and prosodic positions. (2) The low rising tone presents as a falling-rising tone when preceded by a tone with a high offset, and as a low rising tone when preceded by a tone that ends up low. (3) The curvature of the low rising tone is greatest in the sentence-initial position, and is positively correlated to its own duration.Comment: To be published in InterSpeech 202

    New Gronwall-Bellman Type Inequalities and Applications in the Analysis for Solutions to Fractional Differential Equations

    Some new Gronwall-Bellman type inequalities are presented in this paper. Based on these inequalities, new explicit bounds for the related unknown functions are derived. The inequalities established can also be used as a handy tool in the research of qualitative as well as quantitative analysis for solutions to some fractional differential equations defined in the sense of the modified Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative. For illustrating the validity of the results established, we present some applications for them, in which the boundedness, uniqueness, and continuous dependence on the initial value for the solutions to some certain fractional differential and integral equations are investigated

    Diagnotic Value of the Combined Determination of Telomerase Activity in Induced Sputum, Pleural Effusion and Fiberobronchoscopic Biopsy Samples in Lung Cancer

    Background and objective It has been proven that telomerase activation correlates with the carcinogenesis, aggressiveness and turnover of lung cancer. Telomerase is one of the improtant molecular biomarkers for diagnosis and targeting therapy in lung cancer. The aim of this study is to investigate the diagnostic value of the combined determination of telomerase activity in induced sputum, pleural effusion and fiberobronchoscopic biopsy in lung cancer patients. Methods The technique of TRAP (telomeric repeat amplification protocal)-PCR-ELISA was employed to detect telomease levels of induced sputum, pleural effusion and fiberobronchoscopic biopsy in 80 lung cancer patients with pleural effusion and 50 benign pulmonary disease patients with pleural effusion. Results Telomemse levels of induced sputum, pleural effusion and fiberobronchoscopic biopsy were all significantly higher in patients with lung cancer than those with benign pulmonary disease (P < 0.001). There was no significant difference in the level of telomerase activity between different pathologic types (P>0.05). The sensitivity of induced sputum, pleural effusion and fiberobronchoscopic biopsy were 62.5% (50/80), 46.3% (37/80) and 60.0% (48/80), respectively. The specificity were 72.0% (36/50), 66.0% (33/50) and 70.0% (35/50), respectively. The overall accuracy were 66.2% (86/130), 53.8% (70/130) and 63.8% (83/130), respectively. The sensitivity, specificity and overall accuracy of combined induced sputum, pleural effusion and fiberobronchoscopic biopsy were 85.0% (68/80), 78.0% (39/50) and 82.3% (107/130), respectively. The sensitivity of telomease level in combined detection for diagnosis of lung cancer was much higher than that in single sample detection (P < 0.01). Conclusion The sensitivity of telomease activity in combined three samples was the highest. It can further improve the accuracy for the diagnosis of lung cancer with pleural effusion
