    An analysis of the vibrating motion of an axially moving thin plate using the HHT method

    Axially moving plates can be found in many industrial applications. Characteristics of the motion of thin moving plates are demonstrated in this paper using real-time signals and the Hilbert-Huang transform method. Ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and calculation procedures are used to determine the instantaneous frequency, Hilbert spectrum and marginal spectrum of a moving plate. Some comparisons between different cases are discussed briefly. The motion is sensitive to the velocity, the initial tension of the conveyor strings and the weight of the plate. In addition, to express the motion (including the pitch and roll) of a moving plate quantitatively for field applications, a motion indicator is introduced. The signal processing method used is based on EEMD and time domain filtering. The indicator should be helpful for monitoring or adjusting the motions of axially moving plates

    Visual Truth and Image Manipulation: Visual Ethical Anomie and Reconstruction of Digital Photography

    Digital photography has impacted the visual truth in terms of image operation technology. The paper analyzes the performance of image manipulation in digital photography, and asserts that the operation image’s resolution of visual truth can be described by three aspects: the fact deviation, the reconstruction of the situation, the trust crisis, the filter survival, the second reprint, and the value change. Consequently, there are three visual ethical problems associated with the manipulation of images by technology, the siege of images on people, and distortions of social order caused by the manipulation of images by technology. Thus, it is suggested that visual ethics be reconstructed from three perspectives: reconstructing the dominant role of human beings in the digital era, returning to the original significance of visual images, and constructing multiple visual structures

    Multi-View Clustering via Semi-non-negative Tensor Factorization

    Multi-view clustering (MVC) based on non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) and its variants have received a huge amount of attention in recent years due to their advantages in clustering interpretability. However, existing NMF-based multi-view clustering methods perform NMF on each view data respectively and ignore the impact of between-view. Thus, they can't well exploit the within-view spatial structure and between-view complementary information. To resolve this issue, we present semi-non-negative tensor factorization (Semi-NTF) and develop a novel multi-view clustering based on Semi-NTF with one-side orthogonal constraint. Our model directly performs Semi-NTF on the 3rd-order tensor which is composed of anchor graphs of views. Thus, our model directly considers the between-view relationship. Moreover, we use the tensor Schatten p-norm regularization as a rank approximation of the 3rd-order tensor which characterizes the cluster structure of multi-view data and exploits the between-view complementary information. In addition, we provide an optimization algorithm for the proposed method and prove mathematically that the algorithm always converges to the stationary KKT point. Extensive experiments on various benchmark datasets indicate that our proposed method is able to achieve satisfactory clustering performance

    Oridonin nanosuspension was more effective than free oridonin on G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in the human pancreatic cancer PANC-1 cell line

    Oridonin, a diterpenoid isolated from Rabdosia rubescencs, has been reported to have antitumor effects. However, low solubility has limited its clinical applications. Preparation of drugs in the form of nanosuspensions is an extensively utilized protocol. In this study, we investigated the anticancer activity of oridonin and oridonin nanosuspension on human pancreatic carcinoma PANC-1 cells. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay was performed to investigate the effect of oridonin on cell growth. Propidium iodide and Hoechst 33342 staining were used to detect morphologic changes. The percentage of apoptosis and cell cycle progression was determined by flow cytometric method staining with propidium iodide. Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)/PI staining was used to evaluate cell apoptosis by flow cytometry. Caspase-3 activity was measured by spectrophotometry. The apoptotic and cell cycle protein expression were determined by Western blot analysis. Both oridonin and oridonin nanosuspension induced apoptosis and G2/M phase cell cycle arrest, and the latter had a more significant cytotoxic effect. The ratio of Bcl-2/Bax protein expression was decreased and caspase- 3 activity was stimulated. The expression of cyclin B1 and p-cdc2 (T161) was suppressed. Our results showed that oridonin nanosuspension was more effective than free oridonin on G2/M cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in the human pancreatic cancer PANC-1 cell line

    Dynamical Variations of the Global COVID-19 Pandemic Based on a SEICR Disease Model: A New Approach of Yi Hua Jie Mu

    The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused more than 150 million cases of infection to date and poses a serious threat to global public health. In this study, global COVID-19 data were used to examine the dynamical variations from the perspectives of immunity and contact of 84 countries across the five climate regions: tropical, arid, temperate, and cold. A new approach named Yi Hua Jie Mu is proposed to obtain the transmission rates based on the COVID-19 data between the countries with the same climate region over the Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere. Our results suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic will persist over a long period of time or enter into regular circulation in multiple periods of 1–2 years. Moreover, based on the simulated results by the COVID-19 data, it is found that the temperate and cold climate regions have higher infection rates than the tropical and arid climate regions, which indicates that climate may modulate the transmission of COVID-19. The role of the climate on the COVID-19 variations should be concluded with more data and more cautions. The non-pharmaceutical interventions still play the key role in controlling and prevention this global pandemic

    The relationship between work–family conflict and job satisfaction for preschool teachers in rural China: a moderated mediation model

    BackgroundJob satisfaction for preschool teachers in rural areas has an important impact on their professional development, physical and mental health, and the development of preschool education. However, few studies have explored the factors that influence rural preschool teachers’ job satisfaction.PurposeThis study aims to examine the influence of rural preschool teachers’ work–family conflict on their job satisfaction, and the mediating effect of occupational identity, the moderating effect of social support.MethodParticipants included 3,065 rural preschool teachers from Zhejiang Province in mainland China. Teachers completed questionnaires on work–family conflict, occupational identity, job satisfaction, and social support. The correlation and moderated mediation analyses were conducted using SPSS PROCESS.Results(1) work–family conflict is associated with poorer job satisfaction in preschool teachers; (2) occupational identity mediates the relationship between work–family conflict and job satisfaction; and (3) a high level of social support alleviates the negative influence of work–family conflict on job satisfaction and promotes the positive effect of occupational identity on job satisfaction.ConclusionThe study revealed the negative impact of work–family conflict on preschool teachers’ job satisfaction, and the protecting effect of social support, which has important implications for improving teachers’ future job satisfaction

    Subclinical Hypothyroidism in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

    Background: The association between subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has been reported in several studies, but it is not well-recognized. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of SCH in women with PCOS.Methods: An extensive literature search was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases. All articles published before May 2018 was considered for eligibility. No language restrictions were implemented. The prevalence of SCH in PCOS was calculated by the meta-analysis to produce an odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval (CI).Results: A total of 6 studies including 692 PCOS patients and 540 controls were eligible for the meta-analysis. The combined odds ratio (OR) of SCH risk for women with PCOS compared with controls was 2.87 (95% CI = 1.82–9.92; P < 0.000001). The OR increased to 3.59 when limiting thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) cut-off to ≥4 mIU/L.Conclusions: Women with PCOS are more likely to develop SCH
