Multispectral and Hyperspectral Image Fusion by MS/HS Fusion Net

Hyperspectral imaging can help better understand the characteristics of different materials, compared with traditional image systems. However, only high-resolution multispectral (HrMS) and low-resolution hyperspectral (LrHS) images can generally be captured at video rate in practice. In this paper, we propose a model-based deep learning approach for merging an HrMS and LrHS images to generate a high-resolution hyperspectral (HrHS) image. In specific, we construct a novel MS/HS fusion model which takes the observation models of low-resolution images and the low-rankness knowledge along the spectral mode of HrHS image into consideration. Then we design an iterative algorithm to solve the model by exploiting the proximal gradient method. And then, by unfolding the designed algorithm, we construct a deep network, called MS/HS Fusion Net, with learning the proximal operators and model parameters by convolutional neural networks. Experimental results on simulated and real data substantiate the superiority of our method both visually and quantitatively as compared with state-of-the-art methods along this line of research.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figure

A Supply Chain Design Model with Unreliable Supply

    Get PDF
Uncertainties abound within a supply chain and have big impacts on its performance. We propose an integrated model for a three-tiered supply chain network with one supplier, one or more facilities and retailers. This model takes into consideration the unreliable aspects of a supply chain. the properties of the optimal solution to the model are analyzed to reveal the impacts of supply uncertainty on supply chain design decisions. We also propose a general solution algorithm for this model. Computational experience is presented and discussed

Fentanyl widely used in clinics as practices is potentially utilised as an incapacitant in countering terrorism and its analogues would be used as an addictive drug, so the degradation of these compounds need to be investigated for protecting environment and human health. In this work, the degradation of fentanyl was examined in a series of oxidant aqueous solutions. Meanwhile, the degradation pathways of fentanyl in the oxidant solution were discussed according to all products identified by GC/MS and LC/MS.Defence Science Journal, 2011, 61(1), pp.30-35, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.61.6

TegFormer: Topic-to-Essay Generation with Good Topic Coverage and High Text Coherence

Creating an essay based on a few given topics is a challenging NLP task. Although several effective methods for this problem, topic-to-essay generation, have appeared recently, there is still much room for improvement, especially in terms of the coverage of the given topics and the coherence of the generated text. In this paper, we propose a novel approach called TegFormer which utilizes the Transformer architecture where the encoder is enriched with domain-specific contexts while the decoder is enhanced by a large-scale pre-trained language model. Specifically, a \emph{Topic-Extension} layer capturing the interaction between the given topics and their domain-specific contexts is plugged into the encoder. Since the given topics are usually concise and sparse, such an additional layer can bring more topic-related semantics in to facilitate the subsequent natural language generation. Moreover, an \emph{Embedding-Fusion} module that combines the domain-specific word embeddings learnt from the given corpus and the general-purpose word embeddings provided by a GPT-2 model pre-trained on massive text data is integrated into the decoder. Since GPT-2 is at a much larger scale, it contains a lot more implicit linguistic knowledge which would help the decoder to produce more grammatical and readable text. Extensive experiments have shown that the pieces of text generated by TegFormer have better topic coverage and higher text coherence than those from SOTA topic-to-essay techniques, according to automatic and human evaluations. As revealed by ablation studies, both the Topic-Extension layer and the Embedding-Fusion module contribute substantially to TegFormer's performance advantage

Editorial: Untangle the broad connections and tight interactions between human microbiota and complex diseases through data-driven approaches

It is well-known that microorganisms are ubiquitous in the environment and occupy almost all habitats in animals and humans (Finlay and Clarke, 1999; Rosenberg, 2021). Traditionally, microorganisms are studied as individuals grown in isolation under artificial conditions; however, with the development of experimental techniques and computational methods, microbes are now frequently considered as a functional group in a particular niche and studied at the community level in order to best mimicking the real-world situations (American Academy of Microbiology, 2004). During the study of microbial communities, two terms are commonly used, that is, microbiota and microbiome

A pulping method using KOH-K2SO3-AQ system as cooking liquor on wheat straw was studied in this paper. Digestion quantities on pulp yield and hardness during cooking was discussed and determined. It looks promising to use effluents of cooking into fertilizer because it contains rich nutrition such as potassium and lignin. A new pattern of ecological cycling may be set up between paper industry and farming

CircularRNA_0119872 regulates the microRNA-582- 3p/E2F transcription factor 3 pathway to promote the progression of malignant melanoma

OBJECTIVES: Malignant melanoma (MM) is an invasive tumor that poses a threat to patient health. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are important regulators of MM carcinogenesis. In this study, we investigated the expression characteristics and biological functions of, and mechanism underlying, circ_0119872 expression in MM. METHODS: Quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was employed to examine the circ_0119872, microRNA (miR)-582-3p, and E2F transcription factor 3 (E2F3) mRNA expression levels in MM tissues and cell lines. Western blotting was performed to quantify E2F3 protein expression. MM cells with circ_0119872 knockdown were established, and cell counting kit 8 (CCK-8) and transwell assays were utilized to examine the function of circ_0119872 and its effects on the malignant characteristics of MM cells. The MiRDB and TargetScan databases were used to predict the target genes of miR-582-3p. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis was used to explore the biological functions of the target genes of miR582-3p. Additionally, a dual-luciferase reporter gene experiment was performed to verify the targeting relationship between circ_0119872 and miR-582-3p as well as that between miR-582-3p and E2F3. RESULTS: Circ_0119872 was remarkably upregulated in MM tissues and cell lines. Circ_0119872 knockdown suppressed the cell proliferation and metastasis In addition, miR-582-3p was identified as a downstream target of circ_0119872. The target genes of miR-193a-3p are involved in melanogenesis and cancer-related signaling pathways. Mechanistically, circ_0119872 facilitated MM progression by adsorbing miR-582-3p and upregulating E2F3 expression. CONCLUSION: Circ_0119872 is an oncogenic circRNA that participates in the promotion of MM progression by regulating the miR-582-3p/E2F3 axis
