The key ideas for each of the technologies are stated, along with the potential impact on 5G networks architecture. The proposed HetNet architecture key elements such as Small cells, Massive MIMO, mm-waves,  D2D communication, full-duplex communication, energy harvesting, Cloud-RAN and Wireless Network Virtualization,  all of these technologies serve together to ensure users with Quality of service (QoS) requirement in a spectrum & energy efficient manner. Keywords: 5G networks, wireless cellular networks, 5G networks, 5G heterogeneous network architecture, small cells, D2D communications, Massive MIMO, mm-wave, C-RAN, energy harvesting

THE HIGHER AND LOWER-ORDER THINKING SKILLS (HOTS AND LOTS) IN UNLOCK ENGLISH TEXTBOOKS (1ST AND 2ND EDITIONS) BASED ON BLOOM’S TAXONOMY: AN ANALYSIS STUDY

    Get PDF
This study aims at analyzing Unlock English Reading, Writing and Critical Thinking Skills Textbooks (First and Second editions) in terms of the inclusion of the lower and the higher order thinking skills. The current study is a descriptive content analysis paper that followed a checklist containing the cognitive levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy as well as a checklist of the possible verbs by OPAR (2012) that combined the Revised Taxonomy as well. The finding in this study indicated that majority of the cognitive objectives in the second edition belong to both LOTS (Comprehension) and HOTS (Analysis and Synthesis) whereas the focus of the first edition was mainly on Comprehension and Analysis. Some objectives, also, were paraphrased to reflect the cognitive objectives where they were more related to reading comprehension sub-skills (skimming, scanning, previewing, etc.).  Based on the findings, some recommendations were listed

Effect of Ag2O nanosheets thickness on the performance of Al/GeO2/Ag2O/GeO2/C multifunctional electronic devices

Herein, stacked layers of germanium oxide comprising silver oxide nanosheets are used to fabricate multifunctional electronic devices. The performance of these devices is enhanced by altering the thickness of Ag2O nanosheets. The effect of Ag2O nanosheets on the electronic performance of stacked layers of GeO2 is reported. The three stacked layers (GeO2/Ag2O/GeO2; named GAG) which are coated onto Al substrates under a vacuum pressure of 10-5 mbar are subjected to measurements by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron, X-ray fluorescence, impedance spectroscopy, capacitance –voltage and current-voltage characteristics techniques. The impedance spectroscopy analysis indicates that altering the thickness of the Ag2O layer in the range of 25-75 nm could successfully engineer the operation ranges of the GAG devices. When operated as band pass/reject filters in the frequency domain of 0.01-1.80 GHz, the device shows the existence of three pass lines near and above 1.0 GHz. In addition, a controllable negative capacitance effect accompanied with resonance-antiresonance phenomena is observed in the studied frequency domains. On the other hand, investigations of the capacitance-voltage characteristics revealed metal-oxide-semiconductor-fields effect transistor characteristics displaying PMOS and NMOS channels under reverse and forward basing conditions, respectively

Determinants of Exclusive Breastfeeding and Mixed Feeding Among Mothers of Infants in Dubai and Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

Breastfeeding (BF) is considered the ultimate method of infant feeding for at least the first 6 months of life. Exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) is one of the most effective interventions to improve child survival. The main objective of this study was to assess the prevalence and duration of exclusive breastfeeding and the associated factors among women in Dubai and Sharjah, UAE. A cross-sectional study was conducted in four hospitals and four healthcare centers in Dubai and Sharjah between September 2017 and December 2017. Hospitals and centers are governmental and provide maternal and child health services. A convenience sample of 858 Arab and Emirati mothers with children under the age of 2 years participated in the study. Face-to-face interviews were conducted by using structured questionnaires. The study was approved by the University Ethical Committee and the UAE Ministry of Health before data collection. Descriptive statistics were computed to describe all the questionnaire items. The chi-square test was used to compare the study\u27s categorical variables. A binary logistic regression analysis was used to predict the relationship between BF and its associated factors. Statistical tests with P-values \u3c 0.05 were considered statistically significant. The mean age of the participating mothers was 30.6 (SD 5.5) years. Results showed that the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding among the study participants was 24.4% (31.1% in Sharjah and 22% in Dubai; P = 0.003). The binary logistic regression reported that mother\u27s and father\u27s education, skin-to-skin period, number of children, mothers\u27 health, and place of living were significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding (P \u3c 0.05). The results reported a significant association between EB and duration of breastfeeding (OR = 6.9, P = 0.002), husband education (OR = 2.1, P = 0.015), mother education (OR = 1.3, P = 0.027), number of children (OR = 7.9, P = 0.045), having any health problem (OR = 1.2, P = 0.045), and living place (OR = 1.4, P = 0.033), and a non-significant positive effect of family size and family income. Furthermore, the result reported a significant association between mixed breastfeeding and duration of breastfeeding (OR = 0.1, P = 0.000), skin-to-skin period (OR = 0.3, P = 0.002), underweight (OR = 4.7, P = 0.034), last infant\u27s sex (OR = 1.6, P = 0.010), having maid at home (OR = 2.1, P = 0.000), number of children (OR = 0.2, P = 0.013), and living place (OR =1.1, P = 0.014), and a non-significant association with family size and family income. Therefore, a health promotion program for exclusive breastfeeding during antenatal health visits, together with initiating health policies in maternal hospitals to encourage the initiation of breastfeeding during the first hour of birth and the introduction of skin-to-skin contact during the first 5 min of birth are highly recommended

Gastric Metastasis from Renal Cell Carcinoma, Clear Cell Type, Presenting with Gastrointestinal Bleeding

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for 80-85% of all primary renal neoplasms. Although RCC can metastasize to any organ, gastric metastases from RCC are exceedingly rare. A 67-year-old male presented with melena and acute blood loss anemia. The patient had a history of RCC that had been treated with a radical nephrectomy. He had a recent myocardial infarction and was receiving double antiplatelet therapy. After hemodynamic stabilization, esophagogastroduodenoscopy showed a polypoid mass in the gastric fundus. The mass was excised. Histological and immunohistochemical evaluation were consistent with clear cell RCC. The polypoid lesion is consistent with a late solitary metastasis

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome while receiving irinotecan with fluorouracil and folinic acid for metastatic gastric cancer

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) is a clinical-radiographic syndrome with seizures, headache, altered mental status and visual disturbances. It is typically associated with posterior cerebral white matter oedema on neuroimaging. There is an increasing number of cases of PRES reported with different chemotherapeutic protocols. However, PRES is rarely reported in association with irinotecan, fluorouracil and folinic acid (FOLFIRI). We report a 28-year-old female patient with a history of Stage IV gastric cancer who presented with abdominal pain and recurrent vomiting that was thought to be related to a partial intestinal obstruction secondary to peritoneal metastasis. Eventually, she was treated with FOLFIRI. A few hours after initiation of the fluorouracil infusion in the second cycle, she developed a tonic-clonic seizure. MRI of the brain showed multiple bilatera
