    Open access journals in library and information science: a study

    Visualization of Authorship Patterns and Research Trends of Annals of Library and Information Studies

    The study was designed to know the year-wise research growth rate, author collaboration pattern and productivity, sub-domain research in library science, research keyword network, thematic and cluster analysis of journal Annals of Library and Information Science. The data search and download has been done under (Scopus database) sources by selecting the subject area Social Science/Library and Information Science and the journal Annals of Library and Information Science. A total of 388 articles from the study period 2011 to 2022 have been downloaded with all bibliographic information from the Scopus database. VOSviewer (version, 1.6.9) and R (Biblioshiny) software have been used for data visualization and keyword analysis. Total 388 articles were published in which 2014 noted as the most productive year (11.60%) and 2019 as least productive (4.64%) year. Citation analysis indicates that highest 315 citation (18.39%) for year 2011 and lowest 32 (1.87%) in 2022, noted so for averaging 4.41 per article annually. multi-authored articles were found prominent (48.20%), followed by single authors (33.76%). The Collaborative Index ranged from 1.81 to 2.03 (average 1.88), and the Degree of Collaboration found between 0.88 to 0.73 (average 0.82). The Collaboration Coefficient, reflecting averaged collaboration 0.365, with values from 0.29 to 0.41. B K Sen, B Dutta, and K C Garg, noted as highest contributor for this journal where with article “Internet of Things and Libraries published by Pujar S M & Satyanarayana K V in year 2015 has highest number of citations for any article. Keyword analysis indicate that term Scientometrics, Bibliometrics, and India, occurred most time where Library Services, H-index, and Covid-19 noted as latest occurred term for year 2021. The thematic analysis of subject shows that koha, vufind, ethics, open source, ontology, academic integrity, citation impact, altmetrics, lexicon etc. found as emerging subject areas for research. As expected, India emerged as the primary contributor in publications (76.80%) and citations (75.55%), followed by Nigeria (6.44% publications, 5.78% citations) which shows the journal must make its presence on international level.The institute analysis indicates that research institutes are sharing more publication comparing to the central university where the library science department exist

    Contribution of Annals of Library and Information Studies in SCOPUS database (2011-2021): An analysis Bibliomatrice study

    The paper is based on the bibliometric analysis of 44 issues of Annals of Library and Information Studies published during 2011 to 2021. Each issue published 9.74% research output by and large. Of the total 344 were retrieved from 44 issues of Four volumes with an average of 46.15 from Annals library journal in the period 2011-2021, in which year 2014 has got the highest number of publications i.e, 45 with an average article of 11.2 per issue India 263, Nigeria stands next with 24 contributions and Sri Lanka 15 contributors, Bangladesh with 09 contributions, Iran 07 contributions, South Africa 04, followed by USA (03), Brazil (02), Canada (02), and other Counties 26.contributionsB. K Sen (19) contributed the highest number of publications in Annals Journal library. the year 2014 has recorded highest citations 269 , Council of Scientific and Industrial top rank contributor 31 publication and 9.01 % contribuation

    The article presents the conceptual framework and structural components of the next generation library’s model, i.e. the Library 4.0. The state-of-art online technologies that could be exploited in course of the library services implementation, specially designed for meeting of the information needs of the users, while taking into account the peculiarities of the information interaction in society, are considered. The reader, librarian and artificial intelligence technologies are forecasted to create a base for the Library 4.0. However, it has been proven that the Library 4.0 Model cannot be grounded at the technologies only, while their implementation will cause the priority shift in the users’ information needs, libraries’ physical space transformation, and general reinterpretation of both the organizational and funding models of the information industry. That is why, some specific trends of the American Center for the Future of Libraries that is involved in performance of future tendencies in the librarian industry have been used for the comprehensive assessment of the perspective construction of the Library 4.0 integral conceptual framework

    The latest information and communication technologies in LIS education

    This paper concerns the latest information and communication technologies (ICT) as educational tools. The aim is to determine the potential of these tools in the teaching of library and information science (LIS). The technologies considered include virtual and augmented reality, the Internet of Things, mobile technologies, geolocation, and 3D printing. Analysis and criticism of the literature was applied in the first stage of the research. Based on a search of key databases using Google Scholar, the state of research in this field was determined. This was followed by a systematic search of network resources using selected criteria to find examples of good practices and draw conclusions regarding in the use of ICT in LIS education. Predictions were also made about the further development of this issue

    The present study is based on the data taken from the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), a database of fully open access peer-reviewed scholarly journals. The prime objective of the study is to explore quantitatively the inclusion of Law Journals from several perspectives. It is found that there are 626 Law journals indexed in DOAJ published from 62 countries in 38 different languages. While English is the dominant language of publication, 394 journals are in the English language.     INDIAN CONTRIBUTION TO OPEN ACCESS SCHOLARLY PUBLISHING IN DOAJ

    The basic purpose of this study is to provide a comprehensive view of Indian contribution towards open access journal movement, particularly the journals indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) - a service from Lund University. It seeks to explore the relative position of India among other countries and provides an analysis of the indexed journals from several parameters. A list of 318 Indian OA journals indexed in DOAJ has been served as the data source. The relevant metadata for each indexed journal such as title of the journal, journal URL, ISSN, country of publication, language, year since added in DOAJ, LCC subject category, APC charges of journals, publisher and publishers’ keywords and Journal license and other licensing attributes were analyzed to get the outcome. The study suggests India’s standing in the domain of open access scholarly publishing and establishes that India is one among the most productive countries those support universal access to knowledge.     Student teachers\u27 usage and access of electronic resources in the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) during the Covid-19 outbreak

    . The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kharagpur created the National Digital Library of India (NDLI). It is a single-window portal that accumulates and collates information from prestigious Indian and international educational institutions, as well as other relevant sources. It is free and accessible to the public. The objective of the study was to find out the student teachers\u27 usage and access of the NDLI during the Covid-19 outbreak. The online survey method was employed for the study. The investigator designed the questionnaire in Google Forms. The researcher sent the questionnaire about the National Digital Library of India via email and classroom WhatsApp group. A sample consisted of 92 student teachers who participated from the university department and colleges of education, Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu, India. The respondents for the research were chosen using a simple random sampling technique. The investigator prepared a structured questionnaire about the NDLI and the access and usage of various electronic resources for academic purposes in the digital library. The data was collected from the participants and analysed in MS Excel. The results of the study revealed that 78.26% of the student teachers are aware of the NDLI and 78.26 percent of student teachers using the NDLI. A total of 54.35 percent of student teachers have an account in the NDLI. The majority of student teachers used NDLI resources daily (21.74%), weekly twice (40.22%), and weekly (32.61). The majority of the student teachers satisfied the electronic resources available in the NDLI

    AWARENESS AND USAGE OF SWAYAM COURSES AMONG LIBRARY AND INFORMATION SCIENCE STUDENTS: A SURVEY

    The Government of India initiated SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-learning for Young Aspiring Minds), where the objective of the programme is to take the best teaching and learning resources to all with no costs. To find out the awareness and usage of SWAYAM courses among Library and Information science students, survey method of research used. To collect data from selective Universities students a structured questionnaire was prepared. The results show that most of the responses received from Annamalai University, majority respondents are aware of SWAYAM course. Respondents are aware of these courses through their teachers. 74.73% of respondents replied that their University providing orientation programme on SWAYAM. Half of the respondents prefer Word file format for submitting their assignment. More than 82% of respondents are spending 1-3 hours for SWAYAM course. Half of the respondents are agreed SWAYAM courses help to gain new knowledge and supports life-long learning. Further, the result reveals that the numbers of students continue their enrolled courses and only less number were discontinued due to some reason
